52 Chapter 52
"So?" Xavier asked while walking past her. "If they're stronger... Just get stronger and devour them."
It was a simple response, but doing so would have been unthinkable for anyone. Yet Xavier didn't even seem to care, the bloodlust he let out as he walked without a hint of fear... It terrified her.
'...'
The maid was speechless, and that fact that Xavier made it sound like such a minor thing irked her greatly.
'Is this really who the young lady chose...? Someone who isn't even aware of the risks? How can he be so carefree?' She wondered before following after.
Xavier who was walking was stopped by the butler who suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to him.
"Xavier... I have a question. If we decided to overthrow the royal family, would you play a part in it?" The butler asked.
The moment he asked the question, the maid felt shivers run down her spine.
"It's just a personal question of mine, nothing serious."
Xavier thought a bit about the question before responding.
'I could be honest and tell him that I won't get involved with any matters as it doesn't involve me and my family... But... I still can't trust him, what if he decides to use my family as a reason to get me involved?'
Although he had a carefree expression on his face at most times, Xavier was one to carefully consider
"You should already know, I'm neutral. If nothing bad happens to my family I won't get involved. Then again... I owe it to Sangrea for putting so much at risk for me, so if that was what she wanted in return, I'd do it."
The butler adjusted his glasses once more.
"You'd do what exactly?"
Xavier's eyes glowed a vibrant shade of red as stared at the butler right in the eyes.
"I'd devour them..."
The maid who had bene watching from afar felt shivers rush down her spine at his words. She could almost visualize a pile of corpses belonging to the royal family beneath him.
'What the hell..? He's just a fledgling... How can he give off this kind of pressure?'
The butler grinned at the pressure, before turning away and walking ahead.
"That's good to know..."
"Because right now, as the way things stand, this war won't just be between humans and Vampires."
Xavier had already known this fact, even he wasn't dumb enough to not have noticed the hints. Sangrea's family did something bad by helping him, and now they were most likely going to pay the price.
[Skills]
[Hyper-Regeneration: Level 1]
[Gluttony: Level 2]
[Rewind: Level 2]
Xavier took a moment to stare at his skill tab while he walked. The journey ahead of them still appeared to be quite far.
'Level two... I need to Level up Gluttony again... Especially if I want to get stronger...'
Xavier recalled the fight he had with the butler.
During the end, he had figured out a way to level up Gluttony. One which he did not expect to figure out.
'Levelling it up was far simple than I'd imagined. There were only two conditions.'
The first condition was hunger, Xavier needed to let himself drown in his hunger, his gluttonous desire to consume anything.
THen came the second condition, to devour enough blood.
When Xavier had previously become a ghoul, he'd managed to level up gluttony because of how hungry he was nad how much blood he'd consumed. That sparked the evolution of his [Gluttony.]
p
'So to level it up to level htree... I'll have to starve myself and devour a multitude of blood or just use a level up orb...'
Xavier sighed, the path of growing stronger was still a long journey ahead.
But it didn't dismotivate him at all.
'If I can level up gluttony... Then I may be able to devour people's abilities like the system said... Whether it'll be level 3, or a higher level however is something I'll gamble.'
Xaiver couldn't even begin to imagine what the next level of gluttony held in store for him.
Xavier then looked back at the skill tab and frowned.
[Rewind: Level 2.]
'The only problem is rewind... If skills and abilities level up with continuous use, then now that I've finally acquired level two... As long as I continuosly use Retract, I should be able to level it up...'
Xavier was placing his bet on this theory, for it was his one and only shot.
After reaching his conclusions, Xavier turned to the sewers roof. There weren't any ghouls anywhere to be seen.
"There aren't any ghouls down here, are there?" Xavier asked.
"No, there are." The maid responded. "You were inside the camp and underground for a while so you porbably wouldn't know, but it's night outside. The ghouls are active during this time."
Xavier moved his hand closer to his swords handles.
"It's fine, they won't disturb you if you're with us. They're not down here ianyway, they leave the underground and go out to hunt." Reassured the butler.
A dejected look spread across Xavier's face.
'And here I wanted to collect some XP on the way...' He thought to himself.

The three travelled along the sewers with their guards up, not because of the ghouls but in case any Vampires had decided to follow and find them.
Eventually, they'd reached a ladder which led them upwards towards an exit.
After taking it, they found themselves standing in the middle of the underground train tracks.
"There really aren't any ghouls here..." Mumbled Xavier as he looked at the tunnel's ceiling.
He prooced to look down the tunneln on both sides while asking. "What station is this?"
Fortunately for him, his question would be shortly answered as they were near a platform.
"Let's find out." Said the butler as he walked down the tracks towards the platform.
Xavier and the maid followed after, but after a few steps, they suddenly stopped in their tracks.
There were three figures standing by the platform, quietly waiting. One had bright red glowing eyes and stared at them while the other two didn't seem to notice.
Xavier who had stopped walking slowly narrowed his eyes as he tried to see who they were before opening them wide.
*FWOOSH!*
Kicking off the ground, he suddenly left the butler and the maid's side before rushing to the platform. His heart was pounding with excitement, joy and fear as he saw their faces through his [Night-Vision.]
*SWOOOSH!*
Xavier's figure vanished and appeared just ahead of the platform where the three were sat down.
With tears streaming down his eyes, he watched as they slowly turned to him. It was as if everything was moving in slow-motion.
"Mum... Sis...!"
