Chapter 85: The Negotiation Part 2

Chapter 85: The Negotiation Part 2

Vincent stood in the open field, the bright morning sun casting a warm glow over the practice area. Several practice dummies were set up at different distances and made of sturdy straw and wood. The field was quiet except for the soft rustling of leaves from the nearby trees.

King Thandor, Princess Elara, and a group of elven advisors watched from a shaded area, their faces showing a mix of curiosity and doubt. Vincent's special forces team stood ready, prepared to assist if needed.

"Thank you for being here," Vincent began, his voice clear. "Today, I'll show you the pistol."

He held up the pistol, letting the elves see its sleek, compact design. "This is a semi- automatic pistol. It fires one bullet each time you pull the trigger until the magazine is empty."

Turning to the nearest dummy, about ten meters away, Vincent took a deep breath. With a steady hand, he aimed and fired. The pistol's sharp crack echoed through the field, and the bullet hit the dummy squarely in the chest, sending a small puff of straw into the air.

The elves murmured, clearly interested. Vincent continued, firing several more shots in quick succession. Each bullet hit the dummy in almost the same spot, showing the pistol's accuracy.

"As you can see," Vincent said, facing the elves again, "the pistol is accurate and reliable. It's effective in close-quarters combat and easy to handle."

He then pointed to a second dummy, about twenty meters away. "Let's see how it performs at a greater distance."

Vincent aimed carefully and fired. The bullet hit the dummy in the head. He fired a few more shots, each one hitting the target precisely. The elves nodded, impressed by the pistol's performance.

"Impressive, it shoots far and it's accurate."

"You don't have to nock an arrow or draw a bowstring," one of the elven advisors remarked amazingly.

King Thandor nodded thoughtfully, stroking his chin. "Indeed. The ease of use and precision are remarkable. Such a weapon could significantly change the dynamics of our defense. How many bullets can it store again?"

Vincent replied confidently, "This pistol can hold fifteen rounds in a single magazine. After that, it takes only a few seconds to reload with a new magazine."

The elves exchanged glances, clearly impressed by the efficiency of the weapon. King Thandor's eyes gleamed with interest. "Fifteen shots without reloading... That could make a significant difference in a battle."

Princess Elara inquired, her eyes fixed on the pistol. "And you said it's easy to learn? How long would it take for our soldiers to become proficient?"

Vincent nodded. "With proper training, your soldiers can become proficient within a few weeks. The basics are simple, and with regular practice, they can master the weapon quickly."

Another elven advisor, who had been silent until now, spoke up. "And I believe it can be enchanted. I spoke to Halamar, the enchanter that you have approached for it to be tested for enchantments, and the fact that it can be enchanted made it an ideal weapon for future warfare."

"That's correct," Vincent confirmed.

"Now, let's see the other weapons. The one that you call an assault rifle?" King Thandor requested, his curiosity evident.

Vincent nodded to Alpha 1, who stepped forward holding the assault rifle. "This," Vincent said, taking the rifle from Alpha 1, "is an assault rifle. It's designed for mid to long-range combat and can fire in both semi-automatic and fully automatic modes."

He held up the rifle, letting the elves see its design.

Vincent explained the basic operation and features of the rifle.

"Now, what you can see obviously is that this is bigger than the pistol. The magazines where the bullets are stored are different in design," Vincent began, showing the elves the 30-round detachable magazine. "This larger capacity allows for sustained fire, which is critical in prolonged engagements."

He continued, "This particular model, we call it the M4 Carbine is chambered for 5.56 millimeters rounds. The rifle is equipped with a gas-operated, rotating bolt system, which ensures reliability even in adverse conditions."

Vincent aimed at a dummy positioned fifty meters away. He switched the rifle to semi- automatic mode and fired a single shot, hitting the target in the center mass. He then switched to fully automatic mode and fired a controlled burst, the bullets tearing through the dummy.

"As you can see," Vincent said, turning back to the elves, "the assault rifle offers versatility in combat situations. It can deliver accurate single shots at longer ranges and provide suppressive fire when needed."

King Thandor and the advisors closely observed, their interest growing.

One of the advisors asked, "What about the recoil? Is it manageable for our soldiers?" Vincent nodded. "The recoil is minimal, thanks to the design of the rifle. It has a buffer tube that absorbs some of the recoil, and the stock is adjustable, allowing each soldier to find a comfortable fit. Additionally, the rifle is equipped with a flash suppressor to reduce muzzle flash, helping maintain visibility and accuracy during sustained fire." Vincent paused, considering the next step. "Would any of you like to try it?" he asked. Captain Aeron stepped forward immediately. "I would," he said.

Vincent handed the rifle to Captain Aeron, ensuring he had a firm grip and guiding him through the basic handling and safety procedures. "Take your time," Vincent advised. "Focus on your breathing and aim steadily."

Captain Aeron nodded, his eyes fixed on the target. He took a deep breath, aimed, and fired a single shot. The bullet hit the dummy squarely in the chest. He adjusted his stance slightly and fired a burst in fully automatic mode, each shot hitting the target accurately. The elves watched in awe as Captain Aeron demonstrated his proficiency with the rifle. He lowered the weapon and turned to Vincent. "This is easier than a bow, and it's lethal." King Thandor nodded approvingly, his expression thoughtful. "Indeed, the ease of use and effectiveness are remarkable. This weapon could truly revolutionize our defenses. Now, we have seen enough of the weapons, and we are interested in moving forward with our deal. But there is going to be one last thing."

"One last thing?" Vincent repeated.

"We want to see the one that killed the flame dragon," Thandor requested.

"You want to see Ghostrider?" Vincent asked.

"Yes...and we'd want to have that one as well."
