Vol. 5 - Chapter 294 - Dean Quest (1/2) Complete! ... We overdid it!?

"Dean. Here's the delivery of ‹Electric Bear-cum-Squirrel› material."

"Hmm, hard work, Zephyr. You have really surprised me by achieving this quest in the short deadline of just five days."

"That was indeed hard work. We had to use all the flutes we were holding up."

"Ho-Ho. Even I didn't expect you to already have five flutes."

"Sure enough, there's nothing hidden from your ears huh."

I was currently in the Dean's office. Of course, it was to submit the materials of the said quest.

It was Sunday, the clock was ticking 6:00 p.m, not an ideal time to visit him at this late hour, but I got the permission since it was the last day of the material submission deadline.

Today's schedule was pretty much like yesterday, where we farmed the rare boss for its material until possible which was why I was so late.

We had directly taken the teleportation circle and had Ester run straight the carriage to the final floor taking a shortcut.

We also encountered the wandering boss ‹Spooky Bear-cum-Armadillo› midway who re-appeared, though after fighting the rare boss 22 times yesterday and raising our level, the battle against it was a cinch.

I’m not sure if I was imagining things, but it felt like the wandering boss was kinda... shivering when he saw Lana and other girls? Anyway, we blew the flute and fought with the rare boss till the count reset to 0, temporarily returned back to the surface, rushed to the Lenka-senpai's shop super quick to have the flutes repaired and then once again divided into groups again (2nd time).

We fought the rare boss ‹Electric Bear-cum-Squirrel› for a total of 42 times, including both runs.

We also had raised our level from the battles so far so each battle time was greatly shortened compared to yesterday and eventually, we were done with hunting by 5:00 p.m.

We went a bit overboard in our operation.

In fact, we had already reached the required material amount by the time our first round had ended, but it was a rare chance where we had 2 more flutes loaned by the academy and even paid for their recovery.

So, I just felt, why not do it again? I may have gone overboard but there's no regrets.

We have hunted the rare boss a whopping 64 times in two days, and the number of materials we collected was equal to 640. That was a count even I hardly see.

The number of materials we had to deliver was; «Electric Bear-cum-Squirrel's Large Hide» × 20, «Thunder Claw of Electric Bear-cum-Squirrel» ×30, «Electric Bear-cum-Squirrel's Silver Whiskers» × 2.

We needed to deliver 62 materials, while we could also add any excess amount. But this was no longer just a bit, we completely overdid it by a great margin.

It seemed like even Dean hadn't known that I also had 5 flutes. And that was the result when I got a bit too serious.

Anyway, I submitted the extra 50 materials too alongside the original amount to the Dean.

Including the original amount, everything was converted to 54,000 QP! Not to say we also had many drops to be appraised by the ‹Clearing House›! Fuhaha!

Our other quest regarding the ‹Mechanical Carriage› was also progressing at a smooth rate. I received the report that Sierra and the party had gotten a decent amount of ‹Bamboo Puppet› material and apparently have already handed them to Gant-senpai.

Gant-senpai 一 although he couldn't complete it in few days just like before 一 have confirmed he would be able to deliver it in 10 days.

Today's the 19th, so he should be able to make it before the month's end.

I passed the same details to Dean.

"Oh, I wasn't wrong to request ‹Eden› for it. Great work."

"It's nothing, we are also receiving so many QP so it's a win-win for both parties. Please ask for ‹Eden› again if you have any request in the future."

"Hmm, alright. I will be relying on you all by then."

"Thank you very much. Well then, excuse me."

"Ah, I almost forgot, I also have one more request to you, Zephyr-kun, it may take some time but I hope you listen to me."

I had just stood up when Dean said so and returned my back to the couch again.

"Actually, it's about the classes that Zephyr is giving."

Oh, so the topic is finally here.

I have been acting as a provisional lecturer and giving elective classes since the day before yesterday. I had just given my first class, and it seems like this news has finally reached his ear.

But this shouldn't be posing any problem, I believe... Probably. I couldn't be sure since the class I was teaching was on how to have a mindset different from mainstream.

Rather than saying we were discovering a new path, the class was more about researching the best path with everyone, so it wasn't supposed to be causing any big uproar, in my say or should be.

My expression stated, "Is there any problem?" as I urged Dean to continue.

"Hmm. It's about your lecture, there are more and more students, professors, and businessmen applying who want to take your class. So if it's alright with you, I would like you to increase the size."

Is that the problem?

Dean had already given me a subtle warning to keep it low, so I was wondering if it may have run into some problems, but of all things, I didn't expect him to be told to expand the scale.

No wait—rethinking about it, I should have expected it.

High-ranking jobs were a milestone that only a few selected people could have ever hoped to get. In this world, in the real ‹Dungeon Activity›. In short, the ones with high-ranking jobs were few in number.

You can infer from this that this also means research wouldn't be progressing well on that count.

High-ranking jobs are strong. It was a universal fact. However, the research on how to properly draw the power of such jobs hadn't advanced at all, which was also the reason why I applied for a provisional lecturer position.

Rather than saying it stands to reason, there are a lot of students now who have gained high-ranking jobs—an unattainable height they always longed for—but with no knowledge about how to proceed further and are lost.

Though considering the fact that even professors and businessmen are urging it, I guess even the academy is willing to spread it.

I see. Not a bad thing, I would say.

I had also given a little thought to the future. About how to recruit the members since we will soon be at D-rank with our current pace.

In the game ‹Dungeon Activity›, guilds would welcome the strong members at a regular pace as the days passed and your fame values went up.

But there is no such thing as waiting for players to teach you at lv0 in reality. Even if just a bit, they may have gone through some training. However, the job’s functionality would be dead if it was raised in the wrong direction.

I have experienced it many times in the game. I have even forgotten the count of how many times I raised SP in the wrong direction and was then unable to reset it. There might be a lot of students that are like me in the past.

In gaming terms, the situation was like “Ignorant NPC raising their status on their whim”.

Wrong. That was wrong in so many ways.

There's no way I could accept such a thing when it sounds so horrifying just by putting it into words! Dean's proposal was like a lifeboat from my perspective. He wanted to uproot this ideology as much as possible, even completely, when my goal is to reach the peak!

Eden would become stronger if we had more students with the proper status raising ideology. Though it would also strengthen other guilds.

But that's also fun in itself. So, there's no reason for me not to accept it.

"...... Very well. Then, Dean, I accept your request."

The decision that was made today will shake the world.

However, at that moment, I was unaware of the storm that this decision would cause.
