Vol. 11 - Chapter 524 - Final Preparation, and the Role Division!
"«Wolf» and «Leader Wolf» are still alright, what in the world is that monster with 70 costs!!?"
Saturn's scream echoed. Fabulous reaction!
"Fufu...... it sure has a demanding cost. Which dungeon monster is it, I wonder?"
And right then, Jilong asked the question that I had been waiting for someone to ask. Of course, it's my utmost duty to share that then!.
"Hahaha, hold onto each other as this may stunned you silly! This is the 10th floor's field boss from... one of the Intermediate-high dungeon—«The Mountain of Fierce Demons Dungeon»!"
"W-What!? A boss's summon disk!?"
"And you're saying Intermediate-high dungeon?!"
Tom and Helck eyeball almost hadn't popped out in sheer astonishment when I revealed the answer. Saturn next to them was also letting out a befuddled 'Int-high? Have Zephyr's guild already reached that step?' voice.
I focused on my ears and heard the gasp of the rest of class members too, except those who knew.
This surprise was a great success. They all had an expression of extreme shock but, this wasn't yet the end.
"Ah, well. We just happened to get a Gold Chest tomorrow~. Man, it had really stumped us, ahaha."
Of course, that was a lie. But, one must brag humbly. (Not being humble at all).
The «Summon Disk» from Int-high's gold chests were expensive as heck. While summoned monsters were not comparable to actual bosses, it was still a boss nonetheless.
Bosses had always been the type of enemies to require a well coordinated team to fight against. The summoned bosses had been no different. Not to say, this «General» is strong.
"T-This is quite an outrageous item, Zephyr......"
"Fufu, for enemies, he's a nightmare. But, as allies, we couldn't have asked for a more reliable person."
Saturn had a cramped cheeks for incomprehensible reasons. Jilong seemed to have finally seen my awesomeness. Good grief, don't give me such an intense stare, even I can be embrassed~.
Having everyone's attention, I explained the usage.
"We're going to deploy a total of one «General», two «Leader Wolf», and 7 «Wolf» which will amount to a total of 98 costs. «Wolf» objective would be to create chaos and split the opponent's group into small teams. «Leader Wolf»'s leadership will raise the abilities of «Wolf». «General» would be our trump card. Our opponent should be quite exhausted after breaking through our defence line. We will dispatch «General» immediately after «Wolves» attack on them."
"Aaahh..."
Someone gasped amidst my explanation. They must have tried to imagine the situation in such a case. Umu, an interesting strategy I know, right?
"Pushing others into despair just when they think they're past the hardest hurdle...... what're you, a demon?"
“Fufu, he really is the same Zephyr we know."
"I feel sorry for our opponents."
"For real."
I received all sorts of comments. Hmm, I guess they're just as impressed as I imagined, eh?
In the game, guardian monsters had always been seen as the obstacles to put. After all, the defence was best suited to do by yourself. It was interesting to theorise about monsters placement and their synergy, but that was it. They'd never been anything more than pawns so it was whatever in the bigger picture.
But otherwise, monsters like «General» were a nuisance to deal with, and they're often recommended to place among guardian monsters. Though best options were always the monster capable of inflicting abnormal stats or debuffs.
However, a match without its up and down was no fun. Summoner and Tamers jobs were akin to toys you could never have enough of. So, I decided to ignore the typical strategy, and opted out for the monsters I found interesting.
Well, that being said, I didn't take it quite seriously. Couldn't have an accident happen in our first interclass battle, right?
«Leader Wolf» and «Wolf» would always be a troublesome combo. The more «Leadership» skill was in effect, the more its effect would be displayed. They would become a nuisance to take down. This was best for earning some time. Plus, they're fast. And I bet the memory of how «Battle Wolf» destroyed their teamwork easily must have still been fresh into their memories. Now, if a power-type boss jumped into the frey, that would surely take down or two teams for sure.
They'd low cost, could buff themselves, and were easy to use.
Basically, it would be first a clash between students, since the monster' range of movements were fixed around base + two adjacent squares. There was a possibility that we might never get to use guardian monsters, but their presence was a strong assurance nonetheless in case some opponents managed to outsmart the defence team and slip inside the base. A look at the defence team's expression of faint relief was proof the assurance was already showing its effect.
Personally, I couldn't wait to try 'Go, my «General»! Mow down the enemy!' Though I know better than to shout out my wish of seeing enemies invading the base.
"Alright, I am going to summon them. Defense team, make sure to memorise how it's done."
I operated the console, and summoned guardian monsters. The console command was closer to elevator buttons in style. I selected the target monster, then how many of them, and finally pressed the summon command button.
Immediately, the floating monolith released a blinding light, and a magic circle, similar to what had been on the summon disk, was engraved into it. The magic circled shined and soon, we saw «General Bull-Orc» standing in front of us.
A gasp of astonishment, followed by a delightful squeal erupted from classmates.
"And everyone, this is how you do it. Our preparations are ready, and it's about time as well."
The giant floating screen in the air had already started the countdown.
We left the base and arrived at the edge of the square boundary—important to not cross it out. After confirming it, I turned around and announced.
"Everyone, since we're going to do it, let's aim for victory! Let's show everyone the might of Class-1. No offense shall pass our defense, and our spear shall decimate the opponent's Base! Our target is top spot, No.1 spot is of no one but ours!"
A crackling atmosphere swallowed everyone present. Everyone's motivation was at its peak.
I paused once, and made the final call.
"Victory shall be ourrrrr!!!!"
" " " " "Victory will be ours!!" " " " "
" " " "Let's do it!" " " "
Boys yelled with a thunderous momentum, while Girls followed with motivated shouts.
This is it. Burn more in the flames of enthusiasm! It's only then it would be the true interclass battle of «Dungeon Activity»!
"Onto your position, everyone! Offense team will depart the instant buzzer rang. The rest is according to plan!"
Soon, the Class 1-1 split into offense team, and defense teams. At present, I would be joining the offence team.
There was no lack of motivation, and everyone's morale was it's all time high.
A moment later, buzzer sound echoed out from the screen, signalling the start of Interclass battle.
