Chapter 137
137 Chapter 137 – The first ever mages
Feng and Elle followed the crowd of children who were heading to their respective classes with their schedules in hand.
“The Lineti family soldiers had their schedules and helped guide them to the correct hallway.
Walking through the crowd Feng noticed the gazes of each of their kids fall on them. So many children had that same calculative look she was familiar with. Some look at them with curiously and some with animosity.
it was unnerving being thrown into the post light after so long.
Elle suddenly grabbed her hand and gave a small squeeze. “it will be fine. you’ll get used to it Meimei. but be careful of people who approach you. not everyone has good intentions.” she whispered into her ear.
Feng nodded seriously.
Their school had a total of five campuses. they were assigned to the third building. as per usual the school was fucking extravagant from the floor top the walls to the ceiling. everything was decorated elegantly, showing that this was the first rates school.
the children did not run around instead they all chatted with themselves in soft voices, smiled to each other and acted with poise.
Feng somehow felt uncomfortable seeing this.
.....
these were all ten-year-old kids. They didn’t have to act so poised at such a young age. kids this age should run around and play and act rowdy.
‘what can I expect I’m in a fantasy game, what the creator says goes.’ she thought, rolling her eyes.
but she firmly that she would not be like those other kids. she decided to enjoy her school day to the max.
giggling she grabbed Elle’s hand and started to run.
for a second Elle was stunned but she too joined her in her sprint, giggling ad laughing.
“Misses! wait for us.” the three soldiers following them ran after them.
they entered the class joyfully. “I call the front seat!” Feng dashed to the front seat and took the empty seat.
Elle jumped in on the comfortable chair next to her and giggled. “that was super fun meiemi... Let’s do that again.”
“Yeah, let’s do that. this time ill teach you how to slippery slide.”
“What is that?” Elle looked at her curiously.
“The floor is so shiny so oof he run for a while and stops abruptly we can literally slide around. its super fun~” she gently touched the top of her head.
Elle giggled and nodded. “I’m so happy we have the same class. Ethan and Aiden must be fuming with rage.”
Feng chuckled. “they become a pouty little kid if they don’t get their way. is very cute.”
one group of young girls watched the two conversing happily with scrutinizing eyes. “That must be the new Rofles lady, so uncultured,” the young girl whispered flipping her stark green hair behind.
“Come on Fiona you can’t talk like that. The new lady of the Rofles family came from a very difficult origin. so we should make fun of her,” the blond girl whispered with a soft smile. her soft blond curls bounced as she tilted her head curiously. but what others didn’t know was that her beautiful clear eyes held malice. ‘Feng Mei Rofles you have jumped right into my web....just you watch how I tarnish your reputation and beat you to the ground you street rat.’
feeling that powerful gaze Feng glanced back with a frown.
seeing the familiar blond figure, she blinked. ‘Am I day dreaming. why is she... why is she here...’
Clarian gave her a soft smile and waved.
“You know her Clare?” Fiona condescending looked at Feng’s way.
“we met at passing.”
“don’t get close to her. who knows if she has lice.” Fiona whispered giggling.
the whole group of young ladies started to giggle among themselves.
Feng looked away sighing. ‘Enemies have to cross paths. but I didn’t expect this poisonous white lotus to be here. fucking hell. here I thought I can have fun and games at school. no, I might have to have fist fights and verbal fights with that b.’
“Meimei? What is it? you look down,” Elle handed her a small toffee candy. “You can have this. I didn’t mean to take it for you.”
“Feng jokingly pinched her cheeks. “I gave you three and you only give me back one?”
“I ate the other two.” Elle playfully put out her tongue. “now tell me what is it?”
Feng took a deep breath to calm herself. “Don’t look back right but.... the person I detest is sitting in the back row.”
“Person you detest? but you don’t hate anyone. who might that...” even though she was warned Elle looked back. After seeing Clarina talking with her friends, she seethed. “Shameless girl, how did she get in? all throughout the testing days she was in our prison. it was not possible to have gotten in unless....”
“Nepotism... crown prince must have got her in. is it so much of a surprise?”
she knew that Killian had power in this kingdom but to this extent?
Feng frowned slightly. ‘I must not underestimate Killian. he might be a dark horse in this game...’
just as she was thinking of this a middle age man walked in. his long blond hair was braided cleanly and was hanging down to his knees. little hair rings were added to the sides of his head.
the teacher placed a small transparent crystal on the table and finally faced them.
Feng was able to get a good look at his face. the man had long ethereal face with a sharp chin. his nose was chiseled and pointed.
his dull-looking green eyes peered at every single student with no expression on his face.
his small pink lips remained pursed. “I’m Fabian, I will be teaching you the history of mages.”
he was curt. he didn’t ask the students to introduce themselves. nothing. he started the class right after that.
Fabian gently tapped on the transparent crystal on the table.
all of a sudden Feng’s table lit up like a screen. on it was a display of two men and a woman. it looked like a picture of a very old painting. The parts of it were worn off. Especially the face. The only thing noticeable was their hair. The two men had blond curly hair and the woman in the middle had long brown slightly curly hair.
‘Wow, class is so advanced. I was wondering why we don’t carry any books. it’s all displayed right on the table. but how do we record it?’
she tugged at Elle’s sleeves. “How do you record this class?”
“oh here,” Elle took out a transparent crystal from a small compartment the table and placed it on the display. The crystal slightly lit up.
“oh cool.”
grinning Feng tapped on her transparent crystal. ‘magic crystals are so useful...’
“pay attention,” Fabian suddenly called out
Feng sat up straight looking at him with her eyes wide open. her teacher was definitely looking her way. ‘way to create a good impression on my first day....’
“as you can see in the painting those were our first ever mages. Daryn Ryde is to the right and to the right we see Rewis Ryde. a pair of twins who were the ones who create the illustrious town of Hailus. it was said that the whole city was made out of magic crystals. it was said that city was built to their lover Joane Tarth you see standing in between them. initially, everyone thought that magic originated from the earth, that one day it just arose to the surface and gave everyone their abilities.”
“But later on, records were unearthed about the three proving us wrong. Daryn and Rewis were not of our origin. The records said that they descended from the sky bringing with them the gift of magic to this world.”
The image on the table changed to that of a coffin.
“The three were found buried together in the same coffin.”
one of the boys lifted his hand. “You said they are gods why did they die?”
“They were gods but they fell for a mortal. Joane Tarth died of a mysterious sickness. the two stabbed their own hearts and killed themselves.”
Elle held her hand tightly. “Their love as so strong,”
Feng though, frowned. She didn’t believe in such a blind love like that.
She knew that the one left living must carry the burden and the loss of their loved ones but going to the extent of killing oneself was... it was too much.
That too, the two were gods. If they wanted to, they could have found Joane’s soul which was reincarnated.
‘Wait is there a reincarnation or does the soul just disappear?’
She thought boat it deeply.
Fabian’s voice became a soft buzzing in her ears. Slowly her eyes started to droop. Se laid down and started to sleep.
Elle gently tugged at his hand.
Feng could not even keep her eyes open properly.
“don’t sleep Meimei...” Elle pouted.
“Can you brief me about what was taught later on?”
With a slight pout, Elle agreed.
Feng fell asleep thinking about the three ancient ancestors.
The two ancient mages, Daryn and Rewis had similar features to the twins. in her mind somehow Their faces merged together. From the curly blond hair to mismatched blue and green eyes. The elders looked quite similar to them.
