Chapter 5: Escaping the Spider’s Web
Chapter 5: Escaping the Spider's Web
Ben grinned, buzzing his wings in excitement. "Hehehehehe... it's the kind of skill I can imagine a mosquito will possess."
[Passive skills, on the other hand, are abilities that are always active, providing you with passive benefits.]
[Blood Tracer: Helps you detect any blood source about 100meters near you. ]
"Being a passive skill, I don have to worry about the energy consumption when using it." Ben sat on edge of a branch and decided to test his skill.
As soon as he thought about blood tracker skill, the world around him turned into white and black colour. Everything around him was shaped in boxes, except for red energy coming from living beings.
Impressed by his abilities, Ben asked the system about his evolution part "You said earlier that if I keep evolving and levelling up, I can get a human form. So how many steps of evolution I need to climb before I can get back to human form?"
[ Host, by constantly levelling up and completing the quests you can reach an evolution very close to being human. But I don't have any intel about how many evolution its needed to be.
[I believe you can even evolve after evolving into human, to become something even better than human.]
Ben, who was just lazing around, had his mosquito eyes widen as soon as he heard these words. His wings buzzed with excitement as he absorbed what system said. "Something even better than being human? Now that's intriguing!"
[Yes, host! Evolution is never ending, nothing is perfect and to attend this perfection one needs to evolve. Every being has this ability, any you are no exception.]
A mischievous grin spread across Ben's face. "So, you're saying I could become a mosquito-god or something similar?"
[ That's true host, but sadly my knowledge and calculations are only true up to Evo 1. So I cant give you any more information regarding this topic.]
"So basically, I just need to gain experience, as much as I can if I don't want to end up being a cosmic barbeque." Ben finally understood the whole thing clearly. From the time he came to this world, he was just in a hurry of time limit he never got the time to explore about his new life.
"Alright then! Bombard me with every fucking quest you have." Ben asked in excitement, with a completely new determination in his eyes. Going up against the odds was something he always enjoyed, and this new world with new challenges were no exception.
[The system can only grant you one daily quest every 24 hours to get any new daily quest. The host needs to trigger the quest first.]
"Buzz!!!"
[???]
"Alright, never mind, I will just work on my flying skills until then," Ben said before jumping off the leaf, directly towards the ground, falling by the head.
"whooooshhh!!"
Ben flew along the branches before he took a dramatic turn and flew vertically down the earth. With increasing speed due to gravity, Ben took a sharp horizontal turn just before he was about to hit the ground. The whole experience for him was like a punji jumping without ropes.
"And another sharp turn! Wait a second!" "Why am I not falling?" Ben asked with a confused expression, sensing that his flight was being obstructed by something.
"What the hell! Why can't I move my wings... ugh...damnit! Why does it feel like I am stuck in some kind of web or something?" Ben groaned, trying to move his limbs, before a sudden thought crossed his mind, making him freeze on the spot.
"Why does it feel like I am stuck in a mosquito web or something?"
[Ding!!]

"Gulp"
Ben's heart raced as he realized he was caught in a spider's web. Panic surged through his tiny mosquito body as he frantically struggled to free himself. He buzzed his wings furiously, hoping to break free, but the sticky threads held him firmly in place.
"Just when I found a good aim in my new life, fu*k me sideways!" Ben cursed internally, trying to gather all his strength to break free of the web.
"Why did I have to get overexcited and jump down on the web anyway?" Just when the hell would I learn to learn from my mistakes?" Panicking, Ben frantically tried to wriggle free, but the sticky silk of the web held him firmly in place.
Beads of sweat formed on his tiny mosquito body as he struggled against the impending danger. The thought of facing a mutant spider was enough to send shivers down his spine.
As Ben continued to struggle, he heard a faint rustling sound in the distance. His compound eyes widened in fear as he realised that the mutant spider was approaching. The mere thought of facing a spider many times his size sent a wave of terror through his minuscule body.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!" Ben muttered, his tiny voice trembling with panic. "I didn't sign up for this when I born into a mutant mosquito!"
He desperately glanced around, searching for any possible means of escape. His agile mind raced, trying to come up with a plan to outsmart the impending arachnid threat.
"Think, Ben, think!" he urged himself. "You have the mosquito's buzzing skill. Maybe there's a way to use it to distract the spider!"
...
Ben's mind raced as he considered his options. With each passing second, the sound of the approaching spider grew louder, filling him with a sense of urgency. He knew he had to act quickly if he wanted to escape.
Drawing upon his newly acquired skills, Ben focused on his "Mosquito's Buzz" ability. He had to find a way to use it strategically to divert the attention of the spider and buy himself some time.
Taking a deep breath, Ben mustered all his strength and let out a high-pitched, annoying buzz. The sound reverberated through the air, piercing and irritating any creature within earshot.
The spider, now just a few feet away, paused for a moment, its eight eyes darting around, trying to locate the source of the disturbance. Ben seized this opportunity and intensified his buzzing, making it even more obnoxious and distracting.
The spider, annoyed and confused, started moving away from the direction of the sound, leaving Ben momentarily forgotten in the web.
"This might just work!" Ben thought, his tiny mosquito heart pounding with adrenaline. He continued to buzz, alternating the pitch and intensity, keeping the spider's attention fixated on him.
The purpose of his skill was to confuse enemies, and he hoped it would work on the mutant spider as well. Ben knew that spiders were highly sensitive to vibrations, and he hoped to exploit that weakness.
"This is probably the only freaking chance I have; I am going to fu*k the world with all I have got!" Ben screamed internally before using all his strength and concentration on the mosquito buzz skill.
As his buzzing intensified, the sticky web vibrated, amplifying the sound and causing the whole web to vibrate with it. Ben watched with bated breath as the vibrations travelled through the strands, reaching the edges of the web.
