Chapter 2389: Request
Chapter 2389: Request
"What do you have in mind?" Arkiv's voice became a lot more exciting than it was before. "Heard of the new announcement?"
"The one you made with that Hub thing? I forgot to thank you by the way. All my boys didn't get anyone's info attached to them."
"I did give my word. Even though I am interesting in seeing how you would have handled the heat."
"Don't. Not everyone has a interest in dancing with these overpowered assholes like you do."
"Alright, anyway, can't get sidetracked now. That is not the announcement I am talking about. It is about the Conquest of restricted worlds."
"Oh, yeah. Is it important?"
"That's the reason why people are not killing each other even after being tempted by the technology. So, you tell me. Is it important?"
"Damn, really? Then why the hell the elders didn't give out any information?"
"They will in all due time. I got it from a senior who is way too enthusiastic about everything. So, I got a plan."
"What would that be?"
"As I said, something that will stick it right to Hou Yi's face. But of course, it focuses on the Hou Yi's academy."
"Alright..."
They kept on discussing the plan for a while.
"Don't you think this will be a bit risky? This collaboration might bring out our old friendship." Arkiv asked curiosly.
"Why? You are afraid of being associated with me?"
"Come on, man. You know that I don't mean it. Go on and announce it if you want. I don't care. But You have to a lot of lose here. The Dusk is at stake here. I am already surprised that they haven't already found you, with the massive footprint he left behind.
But I guess you covered a lot of your tracks, but the same cannot be said about me.
I might not have had a foolproof past like yours. That is all I am worried about."
"Don't bother about it. If they want to investigate, they can. I am sure Christos already found a lot about it. But they cannot move as freely as they want. I have measures in place. I also know it cannot be hidden for the rest of my life. A bit sooner or later wouldn't matter much.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Anyway, they will only suspect if the cover is blown. And you know. Do you really think it will be that easy to break my plan?"
"Well, its your decision. I will get myself a team and keep you updated."
"Got it. See you later."
Sam cut the communication and laid down on the ground looking at the ceiling. He realized, he kept all the players a bit too inactive. Under the shadows of all the chaos he is creating, they are getting by.
He didn't like.
And this is a great opportunity to put some of them to work and he also decided on the next target for the manager revenge.
It is not hard to guess who it would be.
Time passed. Sam didn't know how to prepare for the conquest. Even though Dove gave him enough information about the results and point system, she still doesn't know the minor constraints and other possible rules.
There are no records left that she could access to know those.
So, he just made some preparations that would apply for any general and ruthless conquest. Finally, five days before the determined announcement time, Sam heard some news. He was called to Dean's office once again. And Dove was the one who took him.
Wharton looked as bored as ever. Ling Tian as anxious as ever.
"What did I do this time?" Sam asked directly.
Ling Tian wanted to slap him on the head.
"We called you here about the Conquest of the restricted worlds. You might have guessed, you are a very favorite candidate for this kind of thing. Even if the other elders don't know, I know what you can do in these kinds of competitions."
"And? Are you asking me for something here?"
"I am sure, you have your own plans. But are you planning to take any teammates with you?"
"Why are you asking?"
"We are hoping that you could lead the second graders for this. Of course, the Gambler academy never places restrictions on the students. So, any students who want to go in with their own plans can go. But we want to run an academy representative team.
All the academies do it.
This team is consisted of the special candidates that the academy selects with a specific goal."
"Let me guess, the goal is most likely to aim for a high value world and persist in its conquest. Most likely an initial hundred percent conquest to ensure the compounded results to the highest."
"Yes, that is their go to strategy."
"I never thought the Gambler academy will be in the game of imitation. You want to make a representative team just like them? And you want to make me part of it?" Sam asked as if he was genuinely disappointed.
His tone is dripping with disdain as he leaned back into the chair.
*PAK*
Dove slapped him on the head and made him sit straight. He looked at her more shock than
anger.
"What the fuck did you just do?" Sam almost yelled out loud.
"Oy, you are in the presence of Dean and Elder. Mind your language. Or you will get more where that came from."
She glared at him and for some reason Sam felt a bit scared.
"This woman..."
"Stop it both of you." Ling Tian stopped them and continued.
"You don't have to be so disappointed. This time, instead of asking you to be something that you cannot be, I am thinking of playing more into your strengths this time."
"Really?"
"You are so set on creating chaos. So set on raising havoc. So, choose a team and do it. Do it as
a representative of the academy. Just tell me what kind of people you need and I will help you
form that team."
Sam almost wanted to laugh out loud.
"Elder Ling Tian. Are you sure, you are in your right mind? You do know what you are asking me to do right? You know what I can do with those words, don't you?"
"I am counting on it."
"Why the sudden change, though?"
"Just for the sake of it. Think of it as me taking some revenge on behalf of someone."
Sam raised an eyebrow not understanding what it is. Wharton and Dove are also surprised. Revenge. That is way out of character for Ling Tian.
"Alright, I will let you guys know. But there is no hurry in recruiting people. I need to know
more details before I do that."
"What details?" Ling Tian asked.
"Oh, now you are ready to give up the info?"
"Just say it and stop being a pain in the ass."
"What kind of restrictions can I expect for each world? How many worlds could there possibly
be there? And are there worlds that are for higher grades but still I can enter as second grade?
How will my points be calculated based on that?..."
Sam went on and on with his questions.
Ling Tian found a gap in the middle and slowly explained him everything.
Sam digested the info and thought of some plans.
"Alright, I do have a plan, but to make it perfect, I want to know your end result."
"You know my end result. I am sure you are not dumb enough to not understand what I said."
"Alright, you asked for it.
I will tell you all the details later on. But just know that the team and the requirements won't
be small.
I might not need them to do anything out of the world, but they do have to work a lot."
"Got it."
Sam left the room. Even though Ling Tian's requirement is way too vague, Sam clearly understood what he wanted.
They have been communicating for such a long time. There is no way for him to not get it.
Sam went knee deep into the preparations. Soon, he also sent the list of requirements to Ling Tian who said he will arrange everything accordingly. Sam is surprised that he didn't receive any pushback. Because the list that he sent is not just some list of chosen candidates. It is way more than that and can be considered nothing short of an imposition.
But since Ling Tian agreed so readily, Sam can only guess that he is really looking for some blood with this revenge pursuit.
Anyway, soon it is time for the final announcement regarding the Conquest.
On that day, every academy waited in anticipation to get the message from the Messenger council. This conquest can wash whatever happened in the past few months to nothing and
give them a fresh start.
They are all excited.
And the excitement doubled when they finally saw what the gods offered to them.
