Chapter 63: Fish on the Hook (6/6)
"Floor Boss…you defeated it alone?" Dagon asked, dumbfounded.
Sabrina was also taken aback and thought she had heard wrong.
"Not exactly alone, as I have my summons," Almond chuckled. "But it’s mainly thanks to my specialized class’s skill."
Almond didn’t want to leave them in suspense after sharing this revelation, so he decided to demonstrate the skill directly. After all, they were Lily’s parents, fully supportive of her—and of him. They had even prepared everything he needed with genuine care. If he couldn’t trust them, then who could he trust?
"I can show you the effect directly on you if you don’t mind?" Almond asked with a smile.
Dagon’s eyes immediately gleamed as he laughed, "Alright, throw it on us. I assume it’s not direct offensive skill since you suggested using it on us."
Almond nodded, his eyes gleaming as he used Divine Diver’s Harvest on both of them, halving their Strength stat.
Dagon and Sabrina were shocked as they felt a clear reduction in their Strength.
"So you halved that Floor Boss’s Vitality by half, borrowed its Strength as well, I suppose?" Sabrina asked, her eyes blinked once, showing amazement.
"This…is powerful," Dagon calmed waves in his heart before he heartily laughed. "Alright, boy, you got one hell of a specialized class, I can tell. What’s its name?"
"Riftveil Grimblade," Almond answered with a smile and returned their Strength.
…
Dagon and Almond arrived at the Darkwood family mansion.
Almond finished showering, and they departed on an advanced private magitech airplane given to high-ranking members of GAA.
In just an hour, they crossed seven thousand kilometers and reached Skytree City, landing at the Global Adventurers Association’s headquarters.
Since Dagon had notified Admiral Rudra that he was coming with Almond, the play had already started.
Mr. Han led Draven to the restricted area of the headquarters, leaving in the corridor before gesturing to him. "Please go ahead. You’ll meet Admiral Rudra past that door, and he’ll show you the video."
Mr. Han left, and Draven walked as he arrived at the door.
It automatically opened the second later, with a single big screen showing Jacob, Seyung, and Lamp.
"Jacob…" Draven muttered, his lips trembling. He looked at Admiral Rudra’s back facing him and composed himself, "Greetings, Admiral Rudra."
"Come in and stand here," Admiral Rudra replied without turning around, his hands still behind his back as he calmly stood at the center of the big room.
The other screens were off at the moment—only one big screen was turned on.
The door behind closed as Draven walked in and stood beside Admiral Rudra, his gaze on the screen.
"Do you know the crime of killing another Adventurer in the Labyrinth?"
Draven nodded, "Imprisonment to death sentence depending on the circumstances and reasons after investigation."
"This law will change soon," Admiral Rudra said, his voice lacking any emotion. "But that doesn’t concern you anymore. Here, take a look at what your son did inside and what happened to him in the end as a result."
"Astra, play from the start."
Draven wanted to ask something, but in the end, he didn’t say anything and just looked at the screen.
But his expression soon changed as he saw the three of them cornering Almond.
"T-This…."
Draven gulped, foreboding something bad. And indeed, Seyung looked at Jacob and said something while Jacob waved his hand, his expression commanding.
Right after that, Seyung slit Almond’s throat. The trio left, leaving Almond twitching in pain and agony, heading towards his death.
"If your son were alive, he would’ve been subjected to the new punishment law. Not imprisonment but enslavement and forced labor with period mind-controlled moral tests to determine their disposition and further sentence."
The video paused there as Admiral Rudra commanded Astra, "Show the goblin settlement incident."
The video fast-forwarded as Draven saw Jacob, Seyung, and Lamp fighting against the Goblins.
But suddenly, Draven’s body jerked as he saw two explosions occurring around Jacob, exploding him into bits as his disfigured head landed beside Seyung.
"Jacob!" Draven shouted, his breath uneven. "Someone killed him!"
Admiral Rudra didn’t say anything as the video continued and soon showed Almond.
"H-He…" Draven was shocked, his eyes trembling.
To clear his confusion, Admiral Rudra promptly spoke with indifference, "He had a second awakening of sorts, the one that occurs upon meeting some special conditions resulting in awakening a new primary class."
Draven’s eyes were already bloodshot, his fist clenched.
To him, it mattered not if his son did that. He was captured only because of this new magitech.
He himself had killed people in the Labyrinth secretly.
To him, the only fault here was getting discovered.
’I am going to kill you even if it’s the last thing I do, bastard!’ Draven’s eyes glued hatefully on Almond as he saw him taking Jacob’s storage pouch and leaving.
"What are you going to do, Draven?" Admiral Rudra finally moved and stood across Draven, his eyes boring into his with sharp glints in them.
"I-I…" Draven’s heart was beating fast. He rationalized because the threat in front of him wasn’t something he could face. He knew what this Grand Admiral Rudra was like.
One wrong statement, and he would face hell.
Taking a deep breath, Draven suppressed his emotions as his expression turned weary and defeated, "What can I do except move on? I only wish that bastard fails the moral test and you give him appropriate punishment."
"I have called Almond here, and he will take the moral test soon, within half an hour. You are free to spectate."
Draven’s eyes twitched as he promptly bowed to hide his eyes that showed his current uncontrolled desire.
"Thank you. I will take up on that offer."
"Go, wait in the longue area. You’ll be called when it starts."
Draven left the room as Rudra watched his back with a somber gaze.
’It seems that he has given up on the future.’
Although Draven tried to hide it, Admiral Rudra clearly captured his desire to kill Almond.
This desire was set at an extreme level such that Draven didn’t think about any consequences at all.
All he wanted was just one opportunity to be near Almond, to make one move and kill him to avenge his son.
What happened to him after he killed Almond no longer mattered in his mind.
’Good thing that Sabrina hatched this plan in a timely manner. This piece of trash would’ve caused much damage in the Frostar city otherwise.’
Rudra sat down on the chair and sighed.
"Almond, you better pass the test. We need you on the good side."
