Chapter 34: Class Names, Tricky Quest
’Ashenvoid Grimblade or Riftveil Grimblade….’
’Which one will synergize with me more with my first class and can enhance my style?’
Almond was thinking of all the possibilities and crazy fantasies that could be possible with those two class names.
’Ashenvoid sounds more powerful for obvious reasons…Void is related to space-time, or rather, the absence of it. It’s nothingness. It should be offensive based on its name.’
’But,’ Almond’s eyes were glued on the last option. ’Riftveil is more mysterious... it also has the concept of void in a way since it nullifies connections, but it seems to be able to do more, and I cannot figure out everything. Who knows what kind of possibilities are there?’
’Riftveil…this word, it’s more mystical, and it definitely has more unique possibilities.’
Almond’s thoughts swirled, and he made a decision.
’This is it.’
[You have chosen Riftveil as your special class’s prefix.]
[The initial potential rank of your Specialized class has been determined, which is based on not just the simple words but also your thoughts and desires.]
’Show me the rank,’ Almond’s eyes burned with anticipation. A second later, it finally appeared.
[Riftveil Grimblade’s initial potential class rank is SS. Depending on your next quest’s result, this rank could decrease or increase.]
’Decreases too?’ Almond winced.
[Second Quest of your specialized class: Skill Visualization. This will determine the first skill of your class and also its rank as well as the number of class skills you can initially have and get hints regarding the development of your next class skills.]
’Here it is…’ Almond gulped.
[Quest: Skill Visualization.]
-Objective:
—> Imagine and visualize a skill completely based on your class name. Derive meanings, bend them to your will, and draw your skill. You may visualize multiple times, and you don’t have to think about restricting your imagination. Be sure to name your visualized skills so you can submit one.
"Almond, did you finish your class name?" Lily asked.
Almond opened his eyes and nodded, "Yep."
"Here’s mine," Natalia excitedly said as she used Mana to write in the air with her control with a stylish font.
[Chaosbound Serenador]
Both Lily and Almond were surprised.
"Chaosbound Serenador…sounds good," Lily blinked as she said.
"Guess the rank," Natalia said cheekily.
"S rank," Almond smiled. "That class name deserves S rank for sure."
"Can’t deny that," Lily nodded before asking curiously, "So, what’s the rank?"
"Never mind, your expression gave it away," Lily said with a chuckle before Natalia could speak.
Natalia merrily grinned, "It’s an S-rank class, and I’ll make it SS-rank! What did you two get?"
"SS-rank class," Lily said as her smile contained a hint of joyous pride. "I am satisfied with it because I feel like it’s going to synergize with my ego well."
Saying that she also wrote her class name and rank using Mana.
[Dreadspire Warlock]—SS-rank.
"Woah, that’s one scary class name," Natalia exclaimed and then snickered, "Definitely suitable to you."
Lily showed her paws and growled while smiling, "I’ll make sure you tremble in fear and wet your bed after I get this class."
"Nyo!!" Natalia dramatically said before she and Lily couldn’t help but laugh.
"What did you get, darling?"
"Mine is also SS-rank, but not as scary sounding," Almond smiled and snapped his finger, drawing his class name in the air as Lily and Natalia looked at it.
[Riftveil Grimblade]—SS-rank.
Natalia smacked her lips, amazed, "That’s one hell of a cool name, damn."
"Very cool, just like mine," Lily grinned. "And if we just take suffixes of our class, Grimblade sounds more scary than Warlock."
"Grimblade is strange…I don’t think I’ve seen that suffix on anyone before. Did you, Lily?"
Lily shook her head, her eyes twinkling in curiosity, "There are a lot of suffixes, but there’s no suffix that’s completely unique to oneself so far. Many people have the same suffixes, but it’s my first time seeing Grimblade."
"That’s kinda true," Almond thoughtfully nodded. "I saw familiar suffixes in the list, but this one struck me."
Serenador and Warlock were not suffixes that appeared the first time.
One of the top ten strongest Adventurers had a Warlock in his title, and it was because of his special class. There were even Warlock in the starting class of people.
Like Blood Warlock, Storm Warlock, and such.
Serenador was also not that rare. It was just like Bard. There were class names with Serenador as a suffix as well.
But Grimblade seemed to be a new addition.
"Anyway, our class ranks are promising, but we have to be careful with our next quest," Lily said, her expression turning serious. "Based on the information I have, the chance of increasing our class rank with the next quest is low."
"In fact, the likelihood of our class rank decreasing is higher. You can say that decreasing in rank and keeping the same rank have the same chance on average while increasing the rank has a low chance."
"Interesting…" Almond was surprised. He didn’t have information about this, but it wasn’t strange Lily had that information.
"Having parents in the Global Adventurer Association sure is handy," Natalia grinned. "Share some tips with us!"
"The tip is already given in the quest. You can imagine and visualize a drum that shatters the planet, but as the quest mentioned, we have to visualize the skill…completely!" Lily said, emphasizing the last word.
"Completely…" Almond muttered. "You see, the quest tells us not to restrict our imagination, but it also wants us to visualize skills fully."
"I feel like we have to visualize an overpowered skill with great details and multiple possibilities based on the meanings we derive from our class names," he added.
"Yes, darling," Lily smiled. "That’s exactly what I feel, and most people don’t do that. I also think that we have to put as many details as possible in our skill visualization while keeping it tied to our class name’s meanings."
"But Almond, your class name sounds confusing," Natalia said as she looked at Almond, "Riftveil Grimblade…I am having a headache just thinking about what to visualize with that to make it overpowered, lol. Do you have any idea?"
Lily nodded in agreement, "True, it’s a bit tricky."
Almond’s expression was blank, "I have no idea yet. I haven’t even begun thinking about anything overpowered related to it."
"But," Almond’s eyes glinted as his face shifted into a grin filled with anticipation and excitement, "I’ll definitely come up with something awesome."
"That’s good to hear. Let’s finish off this area and clear the Briarwood Grove area after that," Lily said as she took out a bunch of things from the storage pouch, "The evening would descend by then, and we’ll take our time visualizing the skill at the camp in high hills at the upper part of the mountain."
"Sounds good," Almond nodded, followed by a growling sound from his stomach.
"I was hungry, but now I am even more hungry! Almond, help us this time so we can cook faster," Natalia rolled up her invisible sleeves.
"Alright."
"I am famished," Lily rubbed her stomach. "Let’s make something quick and filling."
The three of them grinned and spoke at the same time.
"Steak!"
After all, they were exhausted after fighting, consuming all their physical energy at the end, and Almond was even more so since he exhausted himself twice.
Stamina’s recovery heavily depends on hunger, especially for Adventurers who exhaust themselves multiple times a day. If the physical body doesn’t have any energy, stamina recovery considerably slows down.
As such, the trio cooked a meal with a makeshift outdoor kitchen as usual, thanks to the tools Lily brought with her.
Half an hour later, everyone had eaten and fully recovered as they resumed their journey towards the final cavern of White Polan’s Lair.
