Protagonist's Evil System: My Girlfriend Turned Into A Dragon

Chapter 102 The System's Doings

By the way, it judged Lucas, it saw that he still had no proper control of his avatar Phoenix, nor he was good with a sword the system gave him.

[I'm sending you back to the field, train on your way to the mission]

[Goodbye]

With the last sentence, the colour of the room that was filled with darkness changed into a white light.

Lucas returned to a place where there were so many people wearing white uniforms. There were also many unfamiliar faces.

"Welcome."

A young man in a red robe approached Lucas and smiled at him. The other people present looked at this person as well.

"This is the place for training?" He asked after seeing their surroundings.

"Yes, this is the place for training. This is not a battlefield but an enclosed area that will be used by all those who are going to undertake the mission." The young man replied. "And I am Master Luu, I hope we can get along well until the day comes when you have to go to war."

The young man seemed like a kind person from his attitude but Lucas couldn't help but feel uneasy about the fact that he was sent here without being told anything beforehand.

"You may ask any question if there's something you don't understand. I'll try to answer them as best as I can," Luu said to Lucas.

The young man then began explaining what was happening.

"My name is Luu, and I am in charge of this academy. You may call me Master Luu and I will be responsible for teaching you everything you need to know before the mission begins. Today is the first day of classes, and we will begin with self-examination.

"Whe-where are my friends?" Lucas stuttered.

"Your friends are already undergoing training. They will come here soon enough." Luu answered.

"What? But... they're my friends... I wanted to meet them..." Lucas tried to object.

"They have been assigned to different classrooms. It's better that way, they would not be distracted by each other. If you want to see them, you will have to visit the dorms," Luu said.

"Dorms?" Lucas asked surprised.

"Yes, we live here as well. We are supposed to be students of this Academy. And because we are students, all of us share the same place like a dormitory." Luu explained. "Now, let's start with the self-examination."

Luu took out a book and showed it to Lucas. The cover was made of leather and had a picture drawn on it.

"This is the Book of Prophecy. In this book, there are prophecies recorded over a long period of time. By looking at the past, we can predict the future, which is why we do this."

"The past... How does it relate to the future?" Lucas asked confused.

"Everything has its own past. Every event that happened in the past had an influence on the current situation. For instance, if there is a murder in the village, the villagers will become more vigilant. Or maybe they'll start to have the feeling that someone is watching them. These things are happening due to past events. And it's the same thing with the prophecy, if you study the past, you will be able to foresee the future."

"So, I'm supposed to read all of these books?" Lucas asked. "How much longer will this take?"

"Every single one of them. At least, about a hundred years' worth of prophecies. That means you have to read almost every single page of this book. Not only that, but you will also need to memorize every single line of every single prophecy. Even if you learn everything perfectly, you won't be able to read the rest of the books unless you pass the test." Luu answered. "If you want to know how long this will take, it depends on you. But it's useless to ask me since I don't know either."

"But... I want to see my friends!" Lucas exclaimed.

"You can't see them until you finish learning the prophecy. I suggest you do it now so that you can have more free time later," Luu said. "It's up to you."

"Fine." Lucas sighed. He turned around and faced the first page of the Book of Prophecy.

"All right, here goes nothing..."

Lucas began reading.

As he was doing this, he wondered why he was even reading the Book of Prophecy. It didn't seem like it was really important at all.

He just needed to read all these books and memorize everything, that was all.

"That's it... How am I supposed to remember all this stuff?!" Lucas frowned.

"There's no need to worry about memorization. Just focus on understanding the content of the prophecy," Luu said.

"I understand, I understand! Just leave me alone!" Lucas furrowed his eyebrows and clenched his jaw.

"No, don't get angry. If you want to complete the mission, you need to calm down and focus on your work. Now, keep going," Luu ordered.

"Okay... But, this is not fair!" Lucas complained loudly.

"Is it not fair for you to have to spend this much time reading the books? Is it fair that your friends were separated from you so that they could undergo their own training? Is it fair that you are forced to do this every day? No, it isn't. But, this is our fate. If you wish to avoid death, you must endure this burden. If you think you can fight against the gods, then I suggest you try to do it." Luu said.

After hearing those words, Lucas understood what was going on.

For him, everything was unfair.

But, he knew that this wasn't the time to complain or argue. This was the time when he needed to focus and read.

"B-but I don't want to die!" Lucas cried.

"We need to accept the fact that we will all die someday," Luu said.

"And until that time comes, we need to live our lives as best we can!" Lucas shouted.

"Live how you want to. But there is always a limit. There is a time for everything. Do you know what time it is?" Luu asked.

"What time... What do you mean?" Lucas asked, confused.

"Time for the next lesson," Luu replied.

Lucas continued to read through the Book of Prophecy. After finishing all the pages in the first volume, he went back to the beginning and started reading once more.

"I'm so tired..." Lucas yawned as his eyes felt heavy.

He had been reading all night without sleeping, *peri* *peri* a cute and soft voice echoed throughout the room.

He looked down and saw his little old friend.
