Chapter 86 86:Date[II]
Sophia and Leon, after an pleasant date, took a walk in the street under the faint glistening moonlight covered by the veil of clouds.
The winds were chilly and it was already late at night, and the streets were somewhat empty, but that didn't deter them from taking a night walk.
However, the atmosphere between them was a bit solemn and awkward.
"How is your sister? Good, evil, or both," Leon inquired, breaking the silence.
Sophia shifted her eyes towards Leon, pecking up her chin to observe Leon's expression.
It was quite nonchalant and emotionless, hard enough for someone to understand his trail of thoughts.
'Everything was going well until I spoke about my sister. Does he have some kind of enmity with her? His expression was similar to the time when he killed that girl.'
Mustering her courage, Sophia voiced her thoughts, "Are you thinking about harming her?"
Leon, with a dazed expression, stared into Sophia's eyes and gave a brief nod.
"It depends on the situation. We haven't met, and I don't know her personally, but if there is a conflict between us and she is on the wrong side, things are bound to become difficult."
Leon decided to come clean.
Most protagonists start off as good, but as they progress, they change, creating numerous conflicts. The novel's protagonist isn't a hero fighting for justice but rather a realistic portrayal of a person who does everything to gain power, whether it's for good or bad.
Doing everything to gain power might be their own choice, but taking a life was Leon's decision; however, he didn't want to kill everyone he met.
"Let's hope she isn't that bad, and we don't have any conflicts."
Suddenly, a loud thunderclap echoed in the sky followed by drops of rain that commenced plunging from the sky.
"What a mood spoiler!"Sophia muttered.
TAP! TAP! TAP! TAP! TAP!
The rain grew heavier, splattering against the floor and creating beautiful splashes under the street lights.
"Damn! Let's look for cover," Leon cursed, pulling out his jacket and placing it over Sophia's head.
Sophia's body trembled at Leon's warm touch in the cold wind. She was about to thank him with a smile, yet she was forced to swallow her words.
"It seems we can't take cover for now, "A chuckle emerged from her lips but her eyes shone with a chilling coldness.
"Why?" Leon asked, then his lips curled in an 'O' shape, understanding something.
Leon raised his gaze around. Instead of danger, all he noticed was some bonus experience points.
"Things seem to be quite complex this time. Since this doesn't involve you, why don't you escape while I finish…"
Leon's words stuck in his throat as Sophia held his collar and pulled him towards her face.
"Listen to my words and etch them in your heart for eternity, Mr. Noel Star."
Leon swallowed his saliva seeing her tigress gaze burning with an irresistible flame.
"Even if I have to bear the weight of my mistakes and get haunted by the shadows of past, present, and future , I'll confront them all to be by your side. Whether you are revered as a hero or scorned and condemned as a sinner, I'll stand unwavering, by your side embracing every step of this wretched destiny."
"What did you say? Escape…flee…Run…"
"The moment I took a liking to you, there is no escape for me in the damned world unless you betray me and betray those damned principles of yours.
Declaring her words boldly, Sophia kissed him forcefully, but…
It was on his forehead.
'It seems she is still hung up on that.'Leon chuckled.
"So how can I leave you alone here in this precarious situation?" Sophia grinned with a mischievous smile, making Leon's lips twitch as he pulled himself back from her hold.
"You just molested me, and I am going to add this to the debt," Leon snorted and summoned Exitus.
Swish!
A sharp glint reflected from the sword under the lightning flashes.
"Your sword is quite nice," Sophia muttered, taking a glance at a pitch-dark sword emitting a sharp, bloody intent lusting for blood.
"So many people came to accompany us on this lonely night. Don't you find it amusing, dear?" Leon asked with a smile.
"It's really funny how bugs crawl around not knowing just who they are messing with." Sophia's crimson eyes glowed like a fierce tigress ready to hunt.
Walking on the empty street on a dead night, they arrived before a statue in a square devoid of people.
Thunder howled in the sky, illuminating the whole place. When everything returned to normal, Sophia, who was standing beside Leon, vanished into thin air.
Raising his sword, with a gleeful smile, Leon slashed at the statue before him.
Swish!
A shadow flickered, jumping away.
The statue of the nobleman on the square was cut like butter and slid down, falling on the ground with a thud.
Larson landed on the ground a few meters away, drenched in the mixture of rainwater and his own sweat.
'What was that?'
He was really surprised to see his stealth being discovered by him. Just a single glimpse of this man was enough to ring the warning bell in his mind. So, without wasting time, he immediately whistled for help.
"Noel Star, we don't have any enmity, and we don't want to make things difficult for you. We just want to know the truth about Mr. Reno Jeffson's death." Larson gripped tightly on the hilt of his longsword and rushed toward Leon in seamless quick steps.
At the same time, five people hiding in the dark emerged from different directions and charged at Leon with weapons in their hands.
"Sigh.... You people don't value life. Coming here to die," Leon made a saddened gesture.
"I hope God gives you some brains in the next life," the moment his words fell, he sprang into action, shooting toward Larson like an arrow.
*Swish!*
A ripple spread due to the force Leon stepped onto the ground and tore the rain. Leon charged as the hint of calmness in his eyes turned into the madness of a hunter looking at his prey.
Larson's heart thumped wildly, looking at the man's maniacal smile as he closed in. Coming straight at him and drawing his sword, he stabbed toward Leon who swung his sword vertically and flicked his sword upward in a seemingly casual motion.
DING!
The two swords clashed, and Larson's longsword was cut down in the middle.
A flicker of sparks emerged, and a shock wave spread apart as the two swords intersected.
Larson's eyes widened as he looked at his longsword being severed by his opponent. His body screamed at him to get out of the dazed state, but it was late...
A cold sensation glanced past his neck, and all feeling left his body. Blood gushed out from his neck, and as his head fell to the ground, Leon saw his headless corpse collapsing in the rain.
[You have gained 300 Kp.]
After decapitating Larson, Leon didn't even take a single glance back at him before charging toward the next figure in a black robe.
A pillar of blood erupted into the air as Larson's head thumped to the ground. He seemed to have been slain in the blink of an eye, contrary to everyone's expectation.
The members of Red Falcon were taken aback. Their eyes widened in shock and horror upon seeing that, but none of them retreated. Instead, they tightened their grip on their weapons.
They took a look at one another and came to a sudden decision in an instant.
All of a sudden, Leon stomped his ground and shot towards lashing out his sword at one of the dark figures.
The dark figure raised his dagger to deflect the blow, but Leon's sword combined with strength was like a surge of the tide that shook down his body.
CLANG!
With a crisp sound, the dagger bounced off from his hands, and the tip of his sword pierced through his chest, cutting it open.
CRUNG!
Golden light shimmered as Leon hacked the man seamlessly and stepped on him to use as a launching pad towards the others.
*BOOM!*
The man's shoulder cracked and broke instantly, crashing down on the ground with a terrifying force.
Leon's figure, drawing an arc in the air, reached two who were taken aback by his speech.
Leon raised his sword above his head to slash, but before he could do that, he felt a thumping pain due to being hit in his chest.
BANG!
His figure swept due to being hit by shrapnel, and he slammed into the ground, sliding down for a few meters.
