Chapter 185: Over The Moon
The whole ride home, Rong Yue was on her laptop, as the calls got worse with every minute, she turned off her phone and used her laptop to log into the Fox Alliance account.
Since she already had a vague idea of what had happened with her results, she planned to discuss it with Qin Yichen.
She didn't have connections with people in the education sector and knew that even if somehow she was able to hack her way around it, the result and clarification it would provide would be different from knowing the relevant people.
Her intention was simple, rely on the big boss that was at home!
The car ride was very short with Butler Yang's skilled driving. As soon as the car parked in front of the mansion, Qin Yichen walked out to the front.
He was in the garden doing some studying and getting some air when he heard the sound of the car. As it wasn't a residential area that was open to others, sounds were easy to hear when they were outside and not in the soundproofed house.
Lu San didn't enter with them, and since Qin Heng had gone back to the main house to attend a party, only the both of them were at home.
"What's the matter?" Qin Yichen asked, his gaze not leaving her as she settled into a chair.
A month ago, she might have refused to talk and try to find a way out herself, it would have been hard and might even take some time, but now, she didn't mind him helping.
"Someone swapped out my results with theirs. My dashboard shows that I scored 510,"
Qin Yichen's eyes darkened as he heard her words. He sat up instinctively. "Hacking?"
Rong Yue shook her head. It had happened so smoothly in the past and now. She suspected this was an arrangement that was made long before she even went for the competition.
"The papers were most likely swapped out. It's a girl from City A, Tong Yang…."
She gave him some more details, including her usual performance in school and how Tong Yang had stolen her paintings in the past.
The things that Tong Yang had done at this point weren't too wicked, and Rong Yue also didn't say anything about the future to Qin Yichen.
She wasn't ready to share that much with him.
Qin Yichen pulled out his phone directly and called the Minister of Education. His call was picked on one ring, "President Qin," the minister greeted respectfully.
"Rong Yue took her college examination in City A. But it seems like you have been lax in monitoring cities that aren't the capital,"
With the threat hanging in the air, the Minister felt like he had once again returned to when he just started his career.
"W…What's the matter, President Qin?" He managed to ask.
"For all the papers, get your colleagues to bring out Rong Yue's papers, I need to see how they were marked with my own eyes," since he couldn't exactly tell the Minister that the papers had been swapped, the first thing he could do was demand to see them.
When they fetched the papers out, it would be easy to see what had happened to them.
He ended the call and casually passed it to Rong Yue, "he will call back. Bring the phone into the kitchen,"
Rong Yue had gone out early in the morning and only came back after lunchtime. But it was too early to start making dinner, so he wanted to make her a simple meal that she could eat until it was time for dinner.
True to his words, he had just finished making the noodles and poached eggs when the Minister returned the call.
Rong Yue dropped her laptop on the table in front of her and went into the kitchen. She met Qin Yichen on his way back carrying the tray with two bowls of noodles.
Although it was just noodles, the fragrance from the food immediately made the tension in Rong Yue's shoulders disappear, and she picked up the call and kept it in hands-free mode.
"P… President Qin," the Minister's voice was shaky, and one could already see that he seemed to have figured out what happened behind the scenes already.
"Have her papers been found?"
"We have found the papers and checked them well, the grade markings are correct as they follow the standard marking guide that was issued, but we noticed that there seems to be some name change in all the papers"
If it was one paper, he might not have mentioned it. However, correction pens were used on all her papers. It was really suspicious.
Also, they had seen her answer the questions on the television. The Minister didn't also believe that she could score this low.
Luckily, his attention to detail made Qin Yichen happy, and his expression wasn't as tense as it was before.
However, instead of giving him direct instructions, he only told him, "Go and do what you should do,"
The call ended, and the both of them went to the dining table.
"To become a Minister of Education, one must have flawless grades and academic performance in every area. I'm sure that he would have seen things like this even when he was the student union president. He would handle the matter well,"
Rong Yue nodded in understanding and said nothing more. Since they have confirmed that the papers were indeed compromised, what she was thinking about now was the best way to deal with Tong Yang!
Usually, the results would be released individually a day before and then released to everyone after.
From what Sun Li had said, it was easy to see that she was already showing off her scoff.
Rong Yue sneered as she thought of Tong Yang going around flaunting full marks when she knew full well that she didn't deserve it.
In City A,
Most of the people in the province considered education as the most important thing. Since their kid's futures depended a lot on how well they performed, no family would miss a chance to show off their kid's performances.
The same went for the Tong family, and they had, in a matter of hours, gone into celebration mode.
"Yang'er, your brother and his friends will be coming down from the capital. They want to be around when the results are made public tomorrow," Madam Tong told Tong Yang that was currently dressing up.
"Where are you going? A lot of people already know that you scored full marks. If you go out now, there will be a lot of eyes on you,"
As her mother, she had already started plans that would make her congratulations party the best in the city. Since she was planning the party, she didn't think that Tong Yang needed to go out again.
At the very least, she had to seem like a serious student, right?
Tong Yang smiled in satisfaction as that was the exact reaction she wanted.
"Some of my friends are hanging out together tonight and invited me. The Sun's family princess and Mayor Bo's daughter would be there also,"
Mother Tong's eyes lit up as she heard that, "She's back in the city?"
"Wear a nicer dress, I heard that she's in one of the good schools in the capital if you can make her your friend now, by the time you pick the school you want, the both of you can help each other out,"
Tong Yang nodded, agreeing with her mother's thoughts. Usually, the best student would be competed for by all the good schools.
This time around, she even had full marks. She was certain that the schools would start vying for her from tomorrow!
"Okay, go. Your brother's flight will arrive soon. I'll tell him that you went out,"
Tong Yang nodded dismissively. She didn't care too much about her brother and his friends that were coming. After finishing up her makeup, she checked herself in the mirror one last time before leaving.
When she got downstairs, her mom was in a meeting with some of the party organisers.
"I didn't know Tong Yang was such a good student too. Seems like City A high school has been able to churn out so many great geniuses this year," one of the ladies said.
"That's true. The two world champions are from there also," another person added from the other side.
Upon hearing that, Mother Tong's body stiffened slightly.
"The teachers and principal all deserve to be praised for their efforts," she stood up with a flimsy excuse and rushed to meet Tong Yang that was just about to enter the car.
"Tong Yang!" She pulled her aside until she was sure that no one else was there.
Even though the whole family was sharing the glory, only both of them knew what they had done behind the scenes.
"Is that girl going to be there?" Mother Tong asked.
Tong guessed who she was talking about and rolled her eyes in dismissal.
"Even though she won something that big, she is, after all, still from a poor family. No one has seen her around for a while,"
Mother Tong sighed in relief, "There's no need to keep her around you anymore, with this your score. Your future is settled,"
