Chapter 297 - He Subdued the Jia Family
Under the guidance of Mother Jia and her son, Jiang Hao was soon face-to-face with Jia Renjie once again. Jia Renjie lay on the bed, his limbs bound, his eyes bulging and roaring incessantly, his body drenched as if he had just been pulled from water. Nearby, Steward Jia, who had administered medicine to Jia Renjie, lay unconscious on the ground, as did a middle-aged man in the garb of a doctor—evidently the one tending to Jia Renjie.
Witnessing Jia Renjie's agony, Mother Jia rushed to his side, disregarding everything else. She tenderly stroked his face, then turned to Jiang Hao with eyes brimming with desperation. Jiang Hao, sparing further words, produced a pill and handed it to Mother Jia, who promptly placed it in Jia Renjie's mouth. Before long, the torment in Jia Renjie's expression eased.
As Jia Renjie came to, Mother Jia, her voice laced with tears, called out to him, “Renjie, Renjie, are you alright?” Jia Renjie, gazing at his mother, replied feebly, “Mother!” Then, catching sight of Jiang Hao standing behind her, fear filled his eyes, and he began to tremble.
Jiang Hao, seeing his reaction, cracked a smile. “Young Master Jia, there's no need for alarm,” he reassured. “Your mother has agreed to align the Jia Family with me, so I have no intention of harming you. In fact, I'm here to heal your wounds and help you recover swiftly. The Jia Family without you is nothing but a shell.”
Jiang Hao then laid out the entire situation to Jia Renjie. “You wouldn't want to endure that pain again, would you?” he asked, prompting Jia Renjie to shudder. After a moment of fluctuating expressions, Jia Renjie locked eyes with Jiang Hao and said, “Fine, I just hope you'll keep your word.”
Jiang Hao responded with a smile. “Excellent! A smart man knows when to yield. You'll soon be grateful for the wise choice you've made.” Without hesitation, he then produced a bottle of Vital Essence and offered it to Jia Renjie, saying, “Drink this!”
Mistaking it for poison, Mother Jia's face turned pale with fright, and she was on the verge of begging for mercy.
Jia Renjie fixed his gaze on Jiang Hao, mulling over the situation repeatedly before accepting the medicine handed to him. Without any hesitation, he swallowed it.
He was no fool; he understood that Jiang Hao needed him to take the reins of the Jia Family, and it stood to reason that he wouldn't be harmed.
Jiang Hao likely had two motives for his actions.
Firstly, to test Renjie's compliance with his commands.
Secondly, there might be more to this medicine than meets the eye.
Jiang Hao observed Jia Renjie's movements and a satisfied grin spread across his face.

He looked at Jiang Hao, his eyes wide with astonishment.
The enigmatic smile on Jiang Hao's face now made sense to him, in light of his earlier words.

Mother Jia and Jia Renyi exchanged glances with Jiang Hao before quickly freeing Jia Renjie.
Once untied, Renjie eagerly ripped away the bandages wrapped around him, revealing his torso.
But now, beholding Jia Renjie's unblemished skin and scar-free upper body, Mother Jia and Jia Renyi gasped in surprise and turned their attention to Jiang Hao.
With a cryptic smile, Jiang Hao spun on his heel and strode out.
“Young master Jia, please change into fresh clothes. I'll be waiting just outside,” he called back.
Jiang Hao exited, with Mother Jia and Jia Renyi hurrying after him.
