Chapter 281 - The Culinary Masters
Time flies, and a new day dawns!
Early in the morning, within the esteemed confines of the Heavenly-Mansion Tavern's supreme section.
Xue Zixi stood facing eight middle-aged men, all clad in chef's attire.
She surveyed the group of chefs before speaking.
“Ladies and gentlemen, today we have a VIP who wishes to host a banquet here, and he has chosen to take on the cooking himself.”
“Thus, I must ask one or two of you to lend a hand.”
No sooner had Xue Zixi finished her announcement than a ripple of shock ran through the crowd.
The chefs stared at her, disbelief and dissatisfaction etched on their faces.
“Miss, the kitchen is sacred ground. We can't just let anyone waltz in!”
“Exactly, Eldest Miss!”
“And why should we, esteemed culinary masters, be asked to assist him? Who does he think he is?”

The room buzzed with heated discussions!
To be a chef in the supreme section of the Heavenly-Mansion Tavern was no mean feat.
Each one of them was a master chef, with decades of dedication to the culinary arts!
And with talent often came pride.
The idea of assisting some unknown upstart left them seething.
They were culinary virtuosos; how could they simply swallow their pride and play second fiddle?
Xue Zixi, taking in the chefs' heated emotions, knew that as their employer, he had to address their concerns.
“Alright, everyone, please hear me out!”
With that, Xue Zixi commanded their attention, though their eyes remained fixed on her, awaiting an explanation.
Without delay, she continued.
“I understand your feelings. Each of you is a master in your own right, and the thought of assisting just anyone is understandably frustrating.”
“Put yourself in my shoes: I'd feel the same way.”
She paused for a moment, letting her words sink in, then addressed the crowd once more.
“But when did I ever suggest that our guest was just anyone? Do you really think I'd entertain such a request otherwise?”
At that, even the head chef, though still skeptical, couldn't help but temper his discontent.
“Even if he's not just anybody, could his cooking skills really surpass ours?”
The head chef's words struck a chord with all the chefs present, and they quickly chimed in agreement.
“Exactly! That's what I'm saying!”
Yet, upon hearing this, Xue Zixi couldn't help but smile. As she spoke, she dropped a bombshell that left every chef in the room utterly astounded.
“Master Lin, you've actually hit the nail on the head!”
“Our esteemed guest's culinary prowess does indeed exceed yours, for he is none other than a true culinary Grandmaster!”
The moment Xue Zixi's words landed, they sent ripples of shock throughout the crowd.
Eyes wide with disbelief, everyone turned to Xue Zixi.
“What?”
“How can that be?”
In the midst of his shock, Head Chef Lin had an epiphany and exclaimed.
“Miss, could it be that the Grandmaster of our Heavenly-Mansion Tavern is going to step in personally?”
The others, upon hearing this, were equally stunned and burst into animated discussion.
They all fixed their gazes on Xue Zixi, eagerly awaiting her confirmation of the truth.
Xue Zixi, however, simply offered a mysterious smile and a shake of her head, deepening the mystery.
Now, the confusion among them grew.
If not Wu Shi, then which Grandmaster could it be?
