Chapter 267: Thomas and Liz
Chapter 267: Thomas and Liz
"C'mon, can't you lower the price a little?" The negotiations hit a dead end after long hours of debate and two more meals of that meat.
Bloom didn't budge a penny from his price and despite all the efforts the mayor did he didn't accept anything at all.
"What about I pay half in gears and materials then?" The mayor finally started to give other solutions.
"Y'know how stingy person you are!" Bloom was already annoyed with this mayor's endless efforts to cut the price even by a hundred thousand coins. "Someone like you shouldn't hassle about any price. It's a dragon tail a complete and majestic dragon tail! Where else would you find such a treasure with a low price? I'm sure if I auctioned it I would get at least ten times that price without a sweat!"
"Please, please consider taking half of the price in materials and gears," yet the mayor seemed not to listen to any word he just said.
"Alright," Bloom gave him hope and made his face shine before saying what turned that mayor's face upside down. "but I'll need a twenty percent increase in return."
"That's stealing!"
"I'm done here," Bloom stood up for the million times already before the mayor hurriedly pinned him to his seat as he did all the times before.
"Please be more patient and merciful."
"I'm already generous to let you have the entire tail with such a low price hmph I should have listened to her advice and sold it in the capital auction."
The corners of the mayor's eyes twitched before he asked, "do you mean that penny town's mayor?"
"At least she has the balls to buy without playing any tricks!"
"She alright, I can accept that price," the mayor said before adding, "but I'll have to pay it on two no, on five times all over the year."
Bloom knew another level of shamelessness while dealing with this mayor. "I won't accept that," he said before standing and again the mayor pinned him to the seat.
"Don't hurry to reject, please think about it. you won't need all that money at once, right?"
"What do you have with my money?" Bloom angrily said, "it's my money, I'm free to do whatever I want with it."
"Then what about I increase the interest to twenty-one percent? Cool, right?"
""
Bloom controlled his emotions that were already off the roof after all these hours dealing with such a stingy NPC. "I can accept on condition you pay fifty percent extra," he paused while the face of the mayor got even darker, "and that's based on a complex ratio, not just a simple math."
"That's"
"I'm leaving," Bloom didn't even wait for him to say his already familiar word of how this being a daylight steal.
"Can't you lower the price? It's too high," the mayor said after pinning him to his seat once more.
"Not a single penny would be missing," Bloom said before adding, "and this would be only for half a year, not an entire year."
"It's"
"I'm leaving!"
Again he was pinned to his seat while the mayor took a deep breath. "Alright, take it out and let me see what this very expensive piece of old bones and ores is."
"Not before signing a contract and finalizing the deal," Bloom shook his head while the mayor kept glaring at him.
"A tiny piece then."
"Not even its shadow!"
"Then how can I know it's not a fake? Or you might have exaggerated its value or length?"
"You can put a condition to safeguard against fraud," Bloom shrugged, "after all I want this one to safeguard me from your dirty tricks."
"I never do any dirty tricks."
"Yeah, I can tell," Bloom sneered, "write the contract now and let's finish this exhausting deal already."
The mayor took longer than he expected to write down the contract. "Here, please sign it," the mayor gave him the contract and Bloom didn't do as he asked for.
He started to slowly and thoroughly read it.
"What? Don't you trust me?" the mayor suddenly sneered yet Bloom ignored him.
"Item four, seven, twelve, and twenty-four are needed to be omitted," Bloom said after he finished reading this long and complicated contract.
"This why?" the mayor feigned ignorance and surprise while Bloom only kept glancing at him without saying a word.
"Sigh, alright I was just keeping those for extra security," the mayor sighed while taking the contract off his hand.
"Asking not to pay the first payment until a month passes is a safety for what?"
"For the integrity of the tail of course," the mayor was really shameless, "what would be the case if you gave me a fake item?"
"There is a point specially for that purpose," Bloom kept his stern look over his face while the mayor only smiled and kept editing the points he asked to be removed.
"I said omit, not edit," Bloom calmly said.
"Oh, sorry misheard you."
""
Finally the contract was over and ready. "Here is my signature," the mayor signed after Bloom, "to be honest you are one of the hardest guys I ever dealt with. Now can I see my trophy?"
Bloom checked and saw the contract active inside his profile page before turning around. "Here?"
"What's wrong about here?" the mayor said with a doubt.
"The place can't fit," Bloom shrugged, "unless you are willing to pay for the losses here."
"We should see it here," the mayor insisted after a moment of hesitation, "I can't risk you running away."
"I'm bound by the contract," Bloom said, "and I didn't yet take anything from you."
"Just bring it out."
"As you wish," Bloom didn't hesitate to take the tail out. The moment it came forth, the entire roof of that restaurant was totally covered with that tail and even parts of it went beyond the edges of the building.
"Boom!" and the tail crashed over the rooftop and caused a wave of panic to everyone here, including the mayor.
"Damn! It's much bigger and a lot heavier than I thought," he hurriedly moved to take it back but Bloom was faster and stored it away.
"What have you done?" the mayor angrily shouted with his domineering aura, yet Bloom kept his calm.
"I want my money first," Bloom stated, "according to the contract this isn't a fraud item. I believe you didn't even need the system verification for that, but now I need my money."
"This" the mayor tried to control his excitement, "I might need a couple of days to prepare the money."
"" Bloom was speechless for a moment, "if you don't pay then I'll leave."
"Wait," the mayor hurriedly shouted, "I can collect the first payment tomorrow morning at most. It's not too far, and you can stay the night in a hotel or go back to your human world," the mayor tried to convince him with that.
"This" yet Bloom feigned hesitance.
"It's this simple request of me, don't let me down on this please."
"Sigh," Bloom nodded, "I'll wait then, but don't take longer than that."
"I won't," the mayor said in excitement before moving fast and disappearing from Bloom's sight.
"Despite it was a pain in the as* dealing with him, I can't say I'm not satisfied with this result," he returned to the nearly empty restaurant before clapping his hand, "waiter, please bring me another dish and put it on the account of the mayor."
In the meantime there was something else going on strangely near his place but he didn't know about it yet.
Inside a dark and gloomy looking place a group of players walked while their faces showed how serious they were about being here.
The place was like a deserted place of an ancient village. Parts of the old buildings were still present while being covered with thick sharp dark blue thorns that looked quite sharp.
"Careful," one player said, "it's poisonous."
"Thanks Thomas," the shield bearer player said in gratitude while retreating about to fall on the ground feet and could finally see one hidden thorn among the bushes.
"This place looks quite dangerous," one player said, "and it needs a level much higher than ours."
"The scroll said we can get here after reaching level thirty," Thomas said before adding, "and I brought ten players as mentioned there. It's here, I can already sniff it."
The small team of players whose levels were thirty at the least turned around and glanced at this gloomy relic site.
"I'm sure it's here," a shaded son player said, "but the question is can we get it?"
"We must," Thomas had a weird shimmering in his eyes before greedily adding, "the holy grail will be mine!"
"Ours," a light daughter tall and slender girl said with a strong tone, "I can't forget the insult I got from these two assholes."
"Calm down my pretty Liz," Thomas caressed her soft cheeks with his thick fingers, "what I got does always belong to the Triumphed eagles guild."
"Humph, I just want it to be used first by me," the girl pushed his hand away in a sharp move, "I want to make these two taste how bitter it is to fool with me!"
And from her tone and the silence of everyone here, Thomas had to sigh as he knew he would face fierce resistance from her after getting the relic he was seeking for.
"Let's first find the item and then fight over it," he said and she nodded in agreement as this was the unwritten rule of the triumphed eagles group.
