Chapter 222: Chapter 222: When Obito Faces the Reincarnated Rin
Chapter 222: Chapter 222: When Obito Faces the Reincarnated Rin
Obito stared at Akira, his mind heavy with tension.
From Nagato, he had already learned about Akira's abilities. He could steal others' secret techniques, even their Kekkei Genkai, and make them his own. Akira's Mangekyō Sharingan abilities were far more troublesome than his own Kamui.
With Kamui, Obito could phase through attacks at will, as long as he wanted to, making himself invincible by slipping into another dimension. As long as his body wasn't in the same space, no one could touch him.
However, he had already experienced Akira's terrifying power back in the Leaf Village. Akira had managed to steal his Kamui ability, meaning if they both phased out of reality, they'd end up in the same dimension.
Without the safety of Kamui, Obito knew his strength would drop by at least thirty percent. If there was anyone in the ninja world Obito didn't want to face, Akira was definitely one of them.
And now, after Obito and Kakuzu had just subdued the Three-Tails, the Mizukage had shown up, clearly waiting for them. To make things worse, Akira had appeared as well.
Did Akira already know about their plan and had been lying in wait this entire time?
"Summoning Jutsu-Impure World Reincarnation!" Akira didn't rush into battle
immediately. Instead, he formed hand seals and slammed his palm into the ground. A coffin began to rise from the earth.
"What technique is this? A summoning jutsu?" Obito looked confused as he saw the coffin slowly emerging from the ground.
Because Orochimaru had returned to the Leaf Village early, the Impure World Reincarnation technique hadn't yet become widely known. Even Obito, seeing Akira summon the coffin, was perplexed. He had no idea what this summoning was about.
"A coffin? What's he planning to summon?" Mei Terumi, the Mizukage, and even Konan, still hidden nearby, wore similar looks of confusion.
Most summoning jutsu called forth creatures or defensive items like the Rashomon gates, but a coffin?
As everyone watched the coffin rise, puzzled, the lid fell open, revealing a figure inside-a girl, around twelve or thirteen years old, her face painted with purple markings, brown hair tied back, and wearing a Leaf Village forehead protector. However, her body was marred with cracks, making her look like a damaged clay statue.
"This...!" Obito's pupils constricted behind his mask, his body frozen in place as if struck by lightning. His gaze was locked on the girl in the coffin.
"Who is this?" Mei and Konan were equally shocked as they stared at the girl. Akira had summoned this coffin in the middle of a fight against a Kage-level opponent, yet the figure inside was just a young girl. Who was she, and why had Akira brought her out at such a critical moment?
But Obito wasn't focused on anything else. His eyes stayed glued to Rin's face, his voice trembling with suppressed rage. The sheer anger made his words shake. "What do you think you're doing, bringing out her corpse?"
"You've misunderstood," Akira replied calmly. He wasn't surprised by Obito's reaction.
Shaking his head, Akira explained, "This isn't just a corpse."
"This is a forbidden technique created by the Second Hokage. It's called Impure World Reincarnation."
"The process is simple. By using a living person as a sacrifice and some of the deceased's remains, you can summon the soul of the dead from the Pure Land."Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Their soul returns, attaching itself to the living sacrifice's body, allowing them to walk the earth once more."
"That's the essence of Impure World Reincarnation."
As Akira finished his explanation, the girl in the coffin-Rin Nohara-opened her eyes.
"W-where am I?" Rin looked around, confused, her voice shaky. She glanced down at her hands and body, clearly disoriented. "This body... it doesn't feel like mine, but the strength I sense... it's familiar..."
Finally, her gaze landed on Akira. "Are you from the Leaf Village? What's happening here?"
Naturally, seeing that Akira was wearing a Leaf forehead protector made Rin feel somewhat connected to him.
"I'm Akira, currently the head of the Leaf Village's Anbu. The current timeline is about seventeen or eighteen years after your death," Akira replied.
"I've been dead for that long?" Rin was shocked, but soon, she nodded. She remembered her death at Kakashi's hands. So she really had died, after all.
"Did you summon me? You have the power to call the dead from the Pure Land?" Rin asked, piecing together her resurrection through the chakra link she felt connected to Akira.
"Sorry for disturbing you. Yes, I'm the one who summoned you from the Pure Land," Akira admitted.
"Then, what's your purpose for bringing me back?" Rin asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice. "I need your help to deal with someone," Akira said plainly, pointing toward Obito. "You're the head of the Anbu, and yet you need my help?" Rin was taken aback by Akira's request.
"I'll need your assistance, yes," Akira replied without further explanation, simply nodding toward Obito.
"Alright then," Rin responded, not asking any more questions. She turned toward Obito, preparing for combat.
Despite her confusion, Rin trusted Akira as he was the only Leaf shinobi present. Helping him didn't feel wrong.
Akira, on the other hand, had no intention of using a control seal to force her actions. Rin would fight of her own free will.
"Her strength seems only around the level of a Chūnin," Mei noted, her experienced eye quickly gauging Rin's power level. Konan and the others shared the same assessment.
Summoning a young girl to face off against Obito, one of the most dangerous shinobi alive? It seemed absurd, like sending a moth into the flames.
However, as everyone questioned the purpose of summoning Rin, the young girl landed a solid punch on Obito's chest, sending him flying several meters back.
The onlookers were dumbstruck.
How was this possible? Even when Mei and her two bodyguards had attacked together, they hadn't been able to harm him. Instead, Chōjūrō had been seriously injured. And yet, this young girl, whose strength was only Chunin-level at best, had managed to send him flying?
Everyone was stunned, their jaws practically on the floor. The scene before them defied all logic. A Kage-level opponent being knocked back by a girl with Chunin-level strength?
How could this be?
"What exactly is this girl's significance?" Konan's gaze shifted to Akira, her mind reeling. By now, it was clear that Akira had summoned Rin for a reason. She just hadn't figured it out yet.
"Huh?" Rin seemed surprised herself after landing the hit. But she didn't dwell on it, charging toward Obito again with green chakra glowing in her palm.
It was the signature move of a medical ninja-Mystical Palm Technique. Rin had been a medical-nin in life, and this technique was a standard offensive move for someone in her role.
With another strike, she hit Obito again, severing the muscles in his chest.
Grunting in pain, Obito got back to his feet, his eyes locked onto Rin. Though she had been reincarnated, Obito could feel it through her chakra-this was unmistakably Rin.
Rin raised her hand for another attack, this time aiming for Obito's face. Her chakra pulsed as
she moved to shatter the mask that had concealed his identity for so long.
"It's happening!" Konan's eyes widened as she watched, anticipation building.
For so long, the man behind the mask had been a mystery. Would today finally reveal his true
face?
"Who is he?" Mei, too, was glued to the scene. Obito had demonstrated remarkable power with his space-time ninjutsu, but who was the man hiding behind the mask? "Will Obito dodge? Will he block?" Akira watched intently, his curiosity piqued. Would the man who had long claimed to be Madara dodge this attack? Or would he face it head-on?
In a way, Obito was probably the most devoted character in the entire shinobi world-perhaps even its most obsessive.
As Rin's attack neared, a dark shadow suddenly appeared, rushing toward her.
