Chapter 2197.1: Empyrean Immortal

“The Lus lord it over everyone simply because they’re a big store! They sell trash pills and also bully and insult their customers! That’s why I personally took these two down and hang them before the public. But since they’re Marshal Lu Tianling’s foster son and follower, I won’t do anything to them. I will release them as soon as the Lu reparations arrive.”

A young man of twenty-four years old stood beneath the flagpoles. He wore long turquoise robes and a gentle smile on his face. White teeth gleamed out of red lips.

Cultivators gathered to whisper and point at the two dangling men.

“General Lu Xiaochi is an honest and upright man who accomplished many great deeds for Darklake! He is highly revered by the people and not someone a brat like you can insult!” A golden core cultivator in yellow robes couldn’t bear the sight. He flew up to release Lu Xiaochi when—

Whoosh!

Sword light flashed by and pulverized his dantian. He drifted weakly to the ground, staring incredulously at the young man in turquoise.

“You…”

“A Lu sycophant?” The young man curled his lip. “What a crude excuse. Everyone saw what happened in the Lu storefront earlier. Lu Xiaochi, honest and upright? How do you not know he’s a hypocrite who plays the act well?”

The crowd took a collective step back after seeing the young man cripple a golden core cultivator with one move. No one dared stick their necks out.

“A crude excuse? Well said.” The crowd gave way to a young man in long white robes. Waving a folded fan, he strolled out of the assembly. The corner of his eye twitched when he saw the dangling men, but he refrained from brashly leaping into action.

“What do the matters of a Lu establishment have to do with the Yuwens?” Lu Yun sneered.

“I couldn’t stand the injustice and simply acted for what is good and proper.” The young man didn’t think anything of Lu Yun.

“Then why does the Lu Clan need to pay compensation to the Yuwen trading company?” Lu Yun pressed.

“Because the customer that your family oppressed is now recuperating in my business.” The young man finally realized that the young man in white should be a Lu family member.

Yuwen Zhuifeng had departed from home at a young age due to a powerhouse accepting him as a disciple. He was here paying a home visit with his master, so he wasn’t fully aware of certain Darklake matters.

“Have them come out here then, and release my second uncle and Senior Blood.” Lu Yun’s lips stretched in a familiar smile. If Long Aotian was here, she’d immediately know that blood was about to flow.

“Heh heh heh heh heh,” Yuwen Zhuifeng chuckled. “So you’re the prodigal son of the Lu Clan. What, you’re used to bullying others through superior force and now think the Yuwen Clan is an easy target after you’ve destroyed the Ouyangs?”

He changed the subject, refraining from further discussing the customer.

“You’re right, I love bullying others through superior force and numbers. That’s what I’m going to do to your family today, what of it?” Lu Yun pushed off his feet and reached Bloodbath and Lu Xiaochi before anyone realized what the young man intended. He swiftly released them and threw the two flagpoles at the Yuwen trading company building, destroying its formations.

“Here I am, bullying you. What you gonna do about it?” Lu Yun tossed two healing pills into the men’s mouth and checked their wounds.

“You…” Yuwen Zhuifeng scowled, on guard as he hadn’t seen how Lu Yun managed the string of actions. He was also livid that the Lu young master had stabbed the flagpoles into his family’s business headquarters.

“Be careful, he has people ambushing his opponents for him.” Bloodbath sat down cross-legged when he slightly recovered.

“I know,” Lu Yun nodded. Lu Xiaochi likewise caught his breath and glanced at his nephew.

“Be careful.”

Whether it was Lu Xiaochi or Bloodbath, both knew that with Lu Yun’s personality, today’s matter could not be resolved in a peaceful way. The young man wouldn’t stop until he killed the person in front of them and razed the Yuwen trading company.

“What about me?” Lu Yun stepped forward. “We Lus love lording it over people and love bullying others. So what? You want reparations from us? I can consider burning some paper money for you after you die.”

Logic and reason? He wasn’t in the practice of dealing with that. Lu Yun couldn’t be bothered to play along with the other’s sanctimonious act. Anyone could tell that it was the Yuwens framing the Lus here.

“You court death—” Yuwen Zhuifeng was about to launch into a speech when he saw Lu Yun ball his fists up and charge. He hastily swallowed the rest of his remarks and raised his hand, meeting the Lu young master in his advance.

Bam!

Lu Yun was so fast that Yuwen Zhuifeng felt his eye socket ache when his hand was halfway up to his face. He suddenly felt lighter on his feet and flew backward, smashing into the Yuwen trading building.

The structure’s formations were already broken and the two flagpoles pierced through the building foundation. The entire structure collapsed after Yuwen Zhuifeng was thrown into it. Whatever customers and staff were inside came out moaning with agony.

“What is the meaning of this?!” A middle-aged man with a dignified air rushed out of the ruined building and leveled a vicious glare at Lu Yun.

“Heh heh, weren’t you hiding inside and peeking the entire time? What’s the meaning of coming out only now?” Lu Yun showed a complete lack of respect. “But since you ask, I’ll let you know that today, I’m here to loot and kill!”

The young man grinned brilliantly, but the look in his eyes was extraordinarily cold.

No one in the crowd lingered when they saw the pestilence of Dark City in fine fettle. Cultivators scattered in every direction, despite not understanding why Lu Yun’s cultivation level was suddenly so high. Regardless, the young man in front of them was indeed the good-for-nothing of the Lu Clan.

Lu Yun didn’t wait for the Yuwen nascent soul cultivator to reply—he flew forward and stepped on the man’s head, grinding his head into his body.

What a pity that this nascent soul powerhouse, a domineering heavyweight in Darklake, died ignobly to a single stomp from the Lu young master. The nascent soul of cultivators at this level could not leave their body, so death of the physical body meant death of the person.

“Father!!” Yuwen Zhuifeng screamed when he crawled out of the rubble to see Lu Yun kill that member of his family. He flung himself at the young man. “You will die for this!!”

A jade-green greatbow appeared in his hand, one without a bowstring. The young man raised the weapon and came howling for Lu Yun’s head.

“So that was your old man?” Lu Yun chortled and commanded a flare of light from Immortals Forbidden, slashing it at his opponent.

Bam!

A bow and sword crashed in the air. Lu Yun’s hands went numb from the impact and it was his turn to fly out.

“DIE!!” Yuwen Zhuifeng stood where the Lu young master had been and shifted like he was drawing back on the bow. Surprisingly enough, a string of pale-gold light actually appeared on the greatbow!

All wood energy within five kilometers surged toward them and formed a jade-green arrow of light on the bow within half a breath.

Twang!

The bowstring vibrated, sending the jade-green arrow sailing across the horizon.

Thud!

It pierced Lu Yun through, much to Bloodbath and Lu Xiaochi’s dismay.

“Yun’er!”

“Young master!”

Moments away from throwing themselves forward, the two jerked to a stop when they saw the young man flip around and land gently on the ground.

“A fine rank weapon that uses the connate five elements?” The Lu young master licked his lips with appreciation. “My World Tree happens to lack fertilizer as connate wood origin is too much for it. The sapling is too small to digest that level of energy, but pure connate wood is perfect!”

He could’ve easily dodged the arrow if he wanted to, but just when it was about to touch him, he noted a shift in the World Tree rooted in his dantian. It redirected the arrow of light to it and swallowed the projectile.

“Yo, your arrow is as floppy as a noodle. There was no strength behind it! I’ll stand right here and be your target. See if you can shoot me down!” Lu Yun crossed his arms and sniffed dismissively at his opponent.

“You!” Yuwen Zhuifeng was well aware of the greatbow’s power. He’d once used it to heavily injure a soul separation powerhouse!

Being no fool, he could tell that Lu Yun carried an incredible defensive treasure since the arrow had failed to harm him. It negated the greatbow’s might, so he put it back in his storage ring and unsheathed a flying sword glittering with arctic energy.

“Do you actually think you’re a match for me without that bow?” Lu Yun sneered at the change in weapon. Yuwen Zhuifeng had been able to send him flying solely because of the greatbow. The Yuwen young master wasn’t weak, but he was no match for Lu Yun.

“Hmph!” Yuwen Zhuifeng snorted, sending his true origin into the blade of frost. He brought it down on his opponent’s head.

When Lu Yun raised his right hand this time, however, overwhelming pressure abruptly bore down on him. Even the circulation of his Hongmeng qi was affected.

“So I see.” He stared coldly at the ray of sword light while Hongmeng qi operated furiously in his body. Ordinary true origin would be suppressed by this boundless pressure and be completely locked in place.

But he was no ordinary cultivator and he practiced extraordinary methods. Hongmeng true qi was also more than ten times higher level than ordinary qi. As colossal as this pressure was, it couldn’t do anything to him.
