Chapter 2186.2: Red Spider Lily, Hell Flower
Chapter 2186.2: Red Spider Lily, Hell Flower
The latter nascent soul elder of the trading company was beginning to suspect that this noble scion hailed from a high rank empire or from Great Xia. The Trading Company of the Four Seas had long witnessed the might of Great Xia cultivators, but to think that someone possibly from them would appear here today!
“Sir!” The grand steward shuddered when he saw Lu Yun break through the formation and ran up to bow.
“Heh, you can run pretty fast when you put your mind to it.” Lu Yun smiled lazily and gently slapped the steward’s mouth. Sweat beaded the man’s forehead. If he still couldn’t tell that this young man was no ordinary person after he broke through a third rank defensive formation in seconds, then he might as well end himself right here.
“Does this piece of Purplestar Silver belong to your trading company?” Lu Yun hefted an ore the size of a fist that was missing a corner. He waved it in front of the steward.
“No no, not at all. It was your follower who risked his life to fish it out of Jade Ice Lake. How is it ours?” the steward hastily shook his head.
“Hahaha, what a farce! Is this the Trading Company of the Four Seas who dominates Dark Orchid? You’re a complete joke!” The twenty-eight year old burst into raucous laughter to see the steward curry favor with a young man.
“No matter how we are, it is not your place to talk about us!” The grand steward whirled around with fury and released his aura without restraint. It crashed over the latter golden core young man, causing the blood to drain from his face as he stumbled a dozen steps backward and fell to a sitting position on the ground.
“How dare you, Qu Jing!” An incensed initial nascent soul elder next to the twenty-eight year old helped him up.
“Xu Feng, your Nineheavens Pagoda may be the number one sect of Dark Orchid, but you’re nothing in the eyes of the Trading Company of the Four Seas! We will show you no mercy if you further run your mouth in our domain!” Qu Jing sniffed as he looked at the sect elder.
“Do you represent the Trading Company of the Four Seas?” Xu Feng replied frostily.
“Grand Steward Qu Jing is part of the trading company’s senior council. Of course he represents us,” came a gentle and empty voice from upstairs. It echoed in the lobby before an eighteen year old young man floated down from the second floor.
Dressed in long white robes and as dainty as a sprite, he was utterly pristine like a snow flower in winter. His features were exquisite and his face clearly structured, but a hint of sickly pallor in his complexion gave him an unusual tenderness.
The only thing that invoked pity was that there was no focus to his eyes, like he was blind. He held an unnaturally brilliant red flower in his hands, its long petals as bright as blood. It bloomed with an unusual fragrance that set one at ease.
Lu Yun could tell with a single glance that the young man was very ordinary and latter nascent soul. However, the corner of his eyes twitched.
“Red Spider Lily… Hell Flower!” He stared fixedly at the flower in the young man’s hands. The Red Spider Lily, also known as the Hell Flower, grew on the banks of the River of Forgetfulness in the underworld of the three realms. It bloomed once every five hundred years and wilted after another five hundred. Also known as the Flower of Death, Lu Yun had hardly expected to see a legendary demonic item here.
Indeed, the Red Spider Lily was also known as the flower of demons. It fed on blood and souls. With such a diet, it would never wither. In the underworld, however, it was beyond sacred. It wasn’t often seen on the banks of the River of Forgetfulness and was ranked third among the top ten materials in existence.
There weren’t many who could recognize it. Lu Yun had happened to see it by chance when he reincarnated through the underworld. One who owned it was no ordinary soul. More importantly was that a strange spasm shifted through his heart when he saw the flower.
“Hell Flower… River of Forgetfulness… hell…” Lu Yun shook his head fiercely, his sealed memories churning with agitation. This time, the dao character was unable to silence them. Light flashed from the soul pagoda to suppress them when the dao character proved inadequate.
Hell Flower… River of Forgetfulness… these things…
“Young lord!” Qu Jing’’s eyes went wide when he saw the young man. The arrival of the trading company’s most mysterious young lord was most unexpected!
Another latter nascent soul powerhouse of roughly fifty years old stood behind the young man in white—the elder holding down the fort at this branch of the trading company.
“Qu Jing’s words can represent the Trading Company of the Four Seas. Those of the Nineheavens Pagoda can leave now.” The young man wore a stiff smile as his tone remained as gentle and empty as before.
“And what the fuck are you to represent the trading company?!” blustered the latter golden core young man who’d been thrown backwards.
“My words naturally represent the trading company.” The young man shook his head and snapped his fingers.
Bam bam!
The two floated out of the lobby.
“Sir, I have gained an understanding of everything that transpired. It is the Trading Company of the Four Seas at fault. You have killed those three, will you show mercy to Qu Jing on my behalf?” the young man spoke slowly as he turned his vacant eyes onto Lu Yun.
“I can, but I require some compensation,” Lu Yun answered evenly. This young man’s presence seemed very similar to someone he knew. No, it was exactly the same! In these sealed memories, this person was one of the people he was closest to.
The same person had appeared in this world. All was a function of reincarnation.
“What might it be?” The young man’s face twitched as he tried to smile radiantly. He gave up after a few abortive attempts.
“I want the inner core of the blackwater snake.”
“Qu Jing, fetch the inner core and give it to this gentleman.”
“Yes, young lord!” Qu Jing took out a black inner core from his storage ring and placed it in Lu Yun’s hand. He’d moved most of the treasures at the trading company into his storage ring before Lu Yun broke the formation.
“My thanks. Aotian, let’s go.” Lu Yun left as soon as he received the inner core, prompting sighs of relief from the other customers before they left as well.
“Lan Yu,” the young man in white said after everyone had left.
“Young lord!” The latter nascent soul elder hastily bowed.
“Withdraw our branches in the Fallen Leaf, Ice Moon, Iron Curtain, and Boulder Rise Cities. Move them to Dark City in Darklake Empire and partner with the Lu Clan,” the young man commanded softly. “They should see some reward for taking care of Little Wu for more than a year…”
……
“Sir, where do we go now?” Long Aotian felt like he was walking on air after they left the Trading Company of the Four Seas. This legendary faction had shown so much face to his lord that they’d clashed with the greatest sect in Dark Orchid!
On the other hand, Lu Yun knew that the trading company had suddenly turned so respectful for other reasons. If he had to go up against the young man with the Red Spider Lily, there would be nothing but defeat in the cards for him.
“Let’s take care of the trouble at hand first before we go to Jade Ice Lake.” Lu Yun looked behind him and sneered.
Long Aotian quickly realized that the Nineheavens Pagoda would soon swing by. The young master had humiliated them earlier. They couldn’t do anything to the trading company, but they could to Lu Yun.
Those two from the sect had arrived in Boulder Rise only today. They didn’t know what’d occurred in Fallen Leaf, but would think nothing of it if they did. They didn’t think much of the mere Darkwater Gang and Black Tortoises. Wiping out the gang? They could do that too.
The three million paramount stone bounty was the most important task at hand. There were plenty of desperadoes and others in Boulder Rise who meant Lu Yun no good. He exited the city being trailed by countless cultivators.
“Hahaha, the three million stones are mine!” Blade light flashed by without warning as a massive long blade cut down on Lu Yun’s head.
“You want to die, don’t you!” he snorted and pointed at the light.
Pfft!
Immortals Restriction shot out from his fingertip and rebuffed the weapon. Its owner didn’t even have time to scream before his head was separated from his body.
“How does a golden core idiot have the balls to make a play for me?”
