Chapter 287: Yao Ran’s Invitation

Chapter 287: Yao Ran’s Invitation

Wu Lian sighed and added, "As soon as we drove into the outskirts, we were caught off guard and surrounded by them in less than two minutes."

Yao Ran frowned slightly as she listened to his words. After a brief silence, she asked, "Captain Wu, do you have a plan now?"

Wu Lian nodded, "We are heading back to Juncheng City tonight to lure out the mutant rat king. We don't have much ammunition left, so we plan to focus all our attacks on it this time."

Yao Ran stared at him for a few seconds before asking, "Are you planning to sacrifice yourself and your brothers to kill the mutant rat king?"

Wu Lian didn't answer, but his silence told her the answer. Looking into his determined eyes, Yao Ran thought for a moment and asked, "Captain Wu, can you delay your mission by a few days?"

Wu Lian shook his head and explained, "Our rations will only last for a few days. It would take at least a week to return to the Juncheng Military Base on foot. If we don't attack tonight, we won't have enough supplies for the journey back-even if we manage to kill the mutant rat king."

After listening to his explanation, Yao Ran said, "A Yu will return with the others tomorrow or the day after at the latest. If you don't mind, you and your team can come to our place, rest, and treat your injuries while you wait for him to come back. Maybe we can help you deal with this mutant rat king."

Wu Lian's eyes lit up at her offer. After some thought, he said, "We have more than 30 people in total. I'm not sure if Miss Yao's place can accommodate all of us."

Yao Ran stood up, carrying a large bundle of snow-white tubes, and said, "It's big enough for everyone. So, what do you think? Will you come?"

Wu Lian nodded and hurriedly agreed, "Of course."

Picking up one of the bundles of snow-white tubes, he said, "My brothers are resting in a nearby cave."

Yao Ran didn't know where the cave was, so she said, "Please lead the way."

The young soldier carried the last bundle of snow-white tubes, and they began walking toward the cave.

After a while, Wu Lian pointed to a small cave in the distance and said, "That's the cave."

The cave, partially obscured by rocks, was difficult to spot from afar. Yao Ran looked at the cave for a while and then curiously observed the area.

As they approached, the two soldiers guarding the entrance noticed them. One of them walked up and saw Yao Ran but remained silent.

Wu Lian looked at them and said, "Call the others. We are moving to a new location."

"Yes, Captain." The soldiers nodded and quickly went to inform the rest. Soon, they returned with over 30 soldiers, all carrying backpacks and guns.

Seeing that they were ready to go, Yao Ran said, "Please follow me."

They walked for more than an hour before arriving at the air raid shelter's main entrance. Yao Ran opened the door and said, "Come in."

Wu Lian and the soldiers entered, stunned by the advanced technology inside. As they looked around the long white corridor, Yao Ran led them to the cleansing room to disinfect.

Once everyone stepped into the white room, she pressed a button. A second later, the door automatically closed, and white mist sprayed on them.

Phshsh!

Wu Lian and his men were startled as white mist sprayed out from the walls. Realizing it was disinfectant, they exchanged embarrassed glances.

Unbothered by their reactions, Yao Ran opened the door to the main hall and stepped out. When the soldiers followed her in, they were left speechless by the shelter's impressive interior.

Yao Ran turned to them and asked, "Are any of you injured?"

Wu Lian smiled, "Just minor scrapes. No need to waste medicine on us."

Since he had said that, Yao Ran just nodded. She then said, "You are free to move around, but the warehouses, hydroponic rooms, and water storage room are restricted areas. Please don't enter them."

Wu Lian nodded, "Understood."

Yao Ran then added, "Captain Wu, please help me move the snow-white tubes to the

kitchen."

"Alright."

Before leaving, Wu Lian turned to his men and said in a low voice, "Feel free to look around, but don't go near the restricted areas."

"Yes, Captain." They replied.

After that, Wu Lian and the young soldier followed Yao Ran to the kitchen, carrying the bundles. After they left, the soldiers began chatting.

"This place is like something out of a sci-fi movie," one of them said. "How did someone build a shelter inside a mountain? It's incredible."

Another soldier nodded enthusiastically at his words. He grinned at his brothers and said, "I'm going to look around. The young lady said there is a living area here. Maybe I can find some water to wash up."

Hearing this, a fellow soldier smacked the back of his head and asked, "Are you crazy? If the Captain finds out you wasted water on a bath, he will skin you alive!"

The soldier rubbed his head, pouting, and explained, "I was just saying! If there is water here, I'd rather drink it than bathe in it."

He paused for a second and enthusiastically added, "Still, it's rare to see a place like this. I'm going to take a look!"

With that, he walked away. Curiosity gleamed in his eyes as he touched things here and there. The other soldiers exchanged glances before dispersing to explore the shelter.

In the kitchen, Wu Lian and the young soldier set down the bundles of snow-white tubes on the kitchen counter. Wiping his sweat, Wu Lian glanced around, noting the kitchen's modern equipment and ample supplies.

When he saw Yao Ran open the refrigerator and take out fresh vegetables, his eyes widened in disbelief. He asked, "Miss Yao, how do you still have fresh vegetables here? Did you grown/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

them yourself?"
