The fireball shot out of the storage room and struck the wall, instantly leaving a dark, burned spot. Seeing this, Long Yu's eyes flickered. He glanced at Yao Ran, and the two of them
understood what the others were thinking.
Before the enemy could shoot another fireball, Long Yu rushed through the underground entrance. Seeing this, Huang Qian and Jia Xiang were startled and called out in shock.
"Captain, be careful!"
Just as Long Yu stepped onto the stairs, another fireball shot toward him. Without slowing down, he circulated his wind-element energy to wrap around the fireball, sucking out the oxygen around it.
Phsh...
Deprived of oxygen, the fireball immediately vanished. Seeing this, a slight smile appeared on Long Yu's lips. As Long Yu led the way underground, Yao Ran followed closely behind him. In the storage room, Huang Qian turned to Jia Xiang and said, "Sister Xiang, you stay here. I will go down to support them."
They couldn't leave the entrance unguarded, so Jia Xiang agreed, "Be careful."
"Mhm, you too." With that, Huang Qian hurried downstairs.
Meanwhile, Long Yu and Yao Ran had already reached the underground room. As soon as they arrived, the two scanned the dark room. Before they could see anything, two more fireballs flew at a fast speed toward them.
Shyu~! Shyu~!
The sudden burst of fire illuminated the darkness, allowing Yao Ran to see their surroundings clearly. As she took in the scene, Long Yu used his wind element ability to control the fireballs, using them as a light source for the dark underground room.
With the room now brighter, Yao Ran and Long Yu finally saw the person who had been attacking them with fireballs.
A boy stood before them, glaring fiercely, as sweat slid down his chin and dripped to the ground. Behind him, a group of children stared at Yao Ran and Long Yu with fear in their eyes. Seeing this, Long Yu and Yao Ran exchanged glances before lowering their guns.
When Huang Qian arrived, he saw this and quietly asked Long Yu, "Captain, who are these children?"
Long Yu shook his head, then turned to look at the boy and asked, "Were you the one who attacked us with fireballs?"
The boy glared at him and shouted in a hoarse voice, "Get out of our house!"
Observing his guarded expression, Yao Ran touched Long Yu's arm and whispered, "Let's go."
Long Yu considered her suggestion, then looked at the frightened children hiding behind the boy and said, "Retreat."
The three of them slowly backed toward the stairs, maintaining eye contact with the boy. Once they left, the boy fell to his knees.
The children cried out in panic when they saw this, "Brother!"
Smiling at the children, the boy said weakly, "I'm fine. I just need to rest a little bit."
Noticing his pale, sweat-covered face, the youngest child wiped the boy's forehead with his dirty hand and asked, "Brother, are you hurt?"
The boy ruffled the child's messy hair and replied softly, "I'm not hurt. Let me rest a bit, and then we can go back upstairs."
The child nodded and, along with the other children, helped the boy sit down against the wall. As he closed his eyes to rest, the children sat around him, watching him with worry.
Up in the storage room, Jia Xiang grew anxious as she heard the occasional sound of fire from below but was unable to check on them. Just as she was about to go down, Long Yu, Yao Ran, and Huang Qian finally walked out of the underground room.
Seeing that they were unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Did you guys find out who attacked us?"
Long Yu replied, "It was a boy protecting a group of children. This villa is their home. We should leave and find another place to stay."
After the end of the world, it wasn't uncommon to find children gathered together for survival. Most of their family members died in the disaster, so they could only live in seclusion to protect themselves.
Jia Xiang glanced toward the entrance of the underground room and asked, "Can we really leave them down there?"
Yao Ran nodded, "They will come out once we are gone."
Long Yu closed the underground entrance and said, "Let's go."
Since he had made the decision, Jia Xiang didn't say anything.
Exiting the villa, Long Yu told Shi Xuan, "We will find another villa. This one already has an owner."
In the past, Shan Wu Resort was famous, and many people came here for vacations. Some wealthy people will buy the villa directly, so it is not surprising that this villa has an owner.
When Shi Xuan heard that the villa was occupied, he nodded and told the others, "Pack up. We will find another villa."
The Sima, Quan, and Han families quickly gathered into their vehicles after he said that. Since the Han family had joined the team, only Old Han and Han Yixue rode in their car, while the other family members joined the Sima and Quan families on the bus.
Each villa in this residential area had a large yard and garden. Some even had private pools and basketball courts. After driving for a few minutes, they arrived at a villa next to the first
one.
While Long Yu and his friends inspected the villa and its surroundings, the others waited outside and guarded the supplies. After about thirty minutes, they gathered in the front yard. Long Yu looked at the others and said, "For safety, we will all stay here together. This villa has four floors and over twenty rooms, so there is plenty of space for everyone. The elderly will have rooms on the first floor, fighters on the second, and the rest can choose from the third and fourth floors."
Everyone nodded in agreement. Since Yao Ran had already emphasized that there was no room for idlers, the Han family was eager to show their skills after they distributed the
rooms.
