Chapter 256: Leaving Juncheng City

Chapter 256: Leaving Juncheng City

Seconds later, Long Yu's deep voice came from the phone, "Ran Ran?" Hearing his voice, Yao Ran asked, "A Yu, are you coming back today?"

"Yes. We will arrive in five minutes. How are the preparations?" Long Yu asked.

Yao Ran looked at the others and replied, "We are ready to go."

"Good. We will leave right after refueling." Long Yu said.

"Alright. Be careful on your way home." Yao Ran reminded him.

"Mhm, I know." With that, Long Yu hung up.

After putting away the phone, Yao Ran said, "Everyone, we should head down now."

When the members of the Sima and Quan families heard this, they became anxious yet hopeful.

Noticing their anxiety and the hope in their eyes, Yao Ran added, "A Yu and the others will arrive in five minutes. We shouldn't delay any longer."

Realizing it was time to leave, everyone picked up their backpacks and followed Yao Ran to the underground parking lot.

Once there, Yao Ran arranged for Grandpa and Grandma Quan to sit on the bus with the Sima family members. Since Sima Hao would be driving the bus, this arrangement would make them feel more comfortable.

After the elders had gotten into the bus, Yao Ran and the others heard the sound of vehicles approaching. Soon, two trucks and an SUV drove into the underground parking lot, filled with boxes of supplies.

Seated inside the bus, Grandpa Quan whispered to his wife, "These young people are really competent. Fortunately, our grandson has skills and can befriend them. Otherwise, we wouldn't have this good treatment."

Grandma Quan nodded in agreement, holding her husband's thin hand, and said, "You are right, old man."

While they were talking, Long Yu and the others had already gotten out of the trucks and the SUV. He spotted Yao Ran and quickly walked over to her.

Long Yu hugged her briefly before letting her go and said to the others, "Fill up the fuel tank. We will leave as soon as it's full."

"Yes, Captain."

While the others were busy refilling the gas, Long Yu looked at Yao Ran and asked, "Ran Ran, are the trucks fully loaded?"

Yao Ran shook her head and replied, "The third truck only has a little firewood, and the bus is still empty."

Hearing this, Long Yu turned to the others again and said, "The third truck and the bus are still empty. Let's transfer the supplies from the top of the trucks."

Everyone received the order and began unloading the boxes of supplies from the truck's compartment roof onto the third truck and bus. Seeing this, Yao Ran, Sima Hao, Huang Zhihui, and Deng Qiqi joined in. Noticing what they were doing, Sima Hao's parents also got off the bus to help.

Once they had finished moving the supplies and filling the tank, Long Yu said, "Brother Hao will drive the bus. Brother Yun, Brother Quan, Shi Xuan, Huang Qian, and Jia Xiang will drive the trucks. I will drive the SUV and lead the convoy."

He then looked at Huang Zhihui and Deng Qiqi and said, "Zhihui and Qiqi will go on the bus and guard the rear."

"Yes, Captain."

After receiving their orders, they quickly went to their assigned vehicles. Since Long Yu would be leading the convoy, Yao Ran joined him to help navigate the route.

Two minutes later, five trucks, an SUV, and a bus came out of the underground parking lot. Old Han had been watching Yao Ran and the others since yesterday. As soon as he saw the vehicles coming out from the underground parking lot, he called, "Quick! Get in the car!" Following his order, his wife, two sons, and parents hurriedly climbed into their sedan. Old Han was smart. He didn't try to squeeze into the convoy formation but waited until they had passed before joining from behind.

When Long Yu noticed this in the rearview mirror, he said nothing.

Yao Ran followed his line of sight and saw the sedan following behind, so she explained, "He gave me a jade bracelet to follow us. I agreed but told him we won't be responsible for his safety or supplies."

"Mhm."

Seeing that Long Yu didn't mind, Yao Ran looked back at the map.

As they drove out of the gate, the other survivors heard the noise and rushed to their balconies to see what was happening. When they saw Long Yu and the others leaving, they cursed at Old Han for leaving them behind and ran downstairs in a panic.

Unfortunately, by the time they reached the ground floor, Long Yu and his group had already driven far away. Realizing they had no chance of catching up, they broke down and cried in despair.

Unaware of what was happening back at the Ling Yuan apartment complex, Yao Ran took out a cup of watermelon juice from her space.

She held the cup with a straw in front of Long Yu and said, "Drink some to cool down your

body."

Long Yu obediently took a sip, smiling when he saw Yao Ran drink from the same straw. Then, he returned his focus to the road.

As she sipped the watermelon juice, Yao Ran asked, "Where are we heading?"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"There is a resort thirty kilometers from the Juncheng Military Base. I plan to stay there until

the base's first phase of construction is completed." Long Yu explained.

Initially, Long Yu planned to go straight to Juncheng Military Base. However, after Li

Tianyu's advice, he changed his mind and chose the resort area instead.

Having only been in Juncheng City for a few months, Yao Ran was unfamiliar with the resort Long Yu mentioned. Feeling curious, she asked, "Why did you choose that place?"

Long Yu replied, "In the fifth year after the end of the world, the Juncheng Military Base expanded several times. After the final expansion, this resort was just five kilometers away from the base. Although the base didn't take over the resort, it included it within its protection area."
