Chapter 282 - 282 Ghost!
282 Ghost!
“GHOST!!” The two humans in disarrayed clothes ran for their lives when the big leaves of the trees made a form of a big creature and stepped towards them.
“HELP!!” Their shouts would surely wake everyone in the camp site. I was sure their parents would get a notice regarding their vulgar behavior during campus activity.
After making sure those two wouldn’t come back, I slowly drifted back to the camp. But, now that I was in my spirit form, I could see them clearly.
Not too far away from where the ‘deed’ was almost done, there were two guardians standing behind the trees -the trees couldn’t hide their large bodies, of course. Their red eyes were staring right at me and I could sense a confusion in their eyes.
There was a Kuntilanak nearby, watching me intently the moment I stepped into the scene. Also, there were also some other creatures that I couldn’t identify one by one, but they were all staring at me with different thoughts.
“Don’t even try to attack me.” I warned them helplessly. A spirit without power and defense was a prey to every astral beings. My show of power was obviously being seen as weak in their eyes, but why would I waste too much of my power to scheme a grandiose performance only to scare those two puny humans?
“I don’t want to hurt you or to drive you away from this place. As long as you don’t hurt anyone in this place, I promise I won’t do anything to you. But, if you try to attack me while thinking that you can consume me, I can only eradicate you for your own good.” With that being said, a wisp of blue flame flickered in the tip of my finger, warning them about what I could do to them.
Seeing the blue flame which was the characteristics of White Army, those silly creatures stepped back in fear. Sighing, I put the flame away and drifted away.
“So, you’re the new Master. We’ve heard about your name but just have the honor to meet you now. Greetings, Master of White Army.” Those two guardians greeted me.
.....
I had no other choice but to stop and faced them again. Nodding my head as a way to accept their greetings, I was seriously considering to walk away or to continue chit-chatting with them.
Then, I chose the second option. It wasn’t good to walk on two Elders like that, not to mention they were warm and polite towards me.
“Greetings, Elders. I’m so sorry for the disturbance. I hope you don’t get offended with those two youngsters.”
“If you didn’t show up, I would have kept their souls here as a punishment for dirtying our land.” One of the guardian spoke up lightly. I was even sure he chuckled. “Fortunately, things didn’t go as bad as we thought it would be. It’s all thanks to the Master of White Army. But, Milady, please enlighten me, for I have a question for you.”
“What is it about?” My vigilance shot up when I heard the request.
“Why did you do that?”
“...” What was he talking about? “Pardon me?”
“I mean, why did you use your power to scare them? You can always ask one of us to do that for you. That woman, for example, is waiting for a chance to scare humans away while consuming their fear. But, you took the chance from her. Not that I’m complaining, I’m just wondering the reason you did so.” The guardian pointed at the Kuntilanak who was looking at me eagerly now that she was mentioned.
I blinked my eyes repeatedly, not sure how to answer that. Should I tell them that I just found it fun to scare people away? That I was enjoying my prank towards the same race as me?
“Milady?”
I looked up and met those curious gazes. Hah, I really couldn’t lie to them. “Well, it’s nothing special, actually. I just wanted to scare them away myself. I mean, why bothered asking for your help when I could toy with them? It’s also a punishment for disobeying the rules.”
There was an awkward silence in the air. They shouldn’t have guessed that kind of reason would come out from the mouth of a Master of astral army. I even suspected they thought of me as a petty master. Who would use their power to scare other people, anyway? It was okay if I were a shaman, since that was what shamans usually did. But, my identity was too far different with those of shamans. Pettiness wasn’t supposed to be in my trait.
“Then, I’m leaving.” I turned around and moved swiftly to run away from that place. I would just leave it to their own interpretation. After I got in the chaotic camp site, I noticed that some people chose to stay in the tent, ignoring the chaos outside.
I took a peek inside a tent which was opened a bit, curious as to why this tent was so quiet. The lamp was off, clearly the person inside didn’t care about what happened outside the tent.
Hm? It turned out to be Sanji’s tent. He looked like he was sleeping so soundly, but I knew for sure he couldn’t turn off the noisy chattering and screaming outside. He must have just closed his eyes without actually sleeping.
“Sanji, you either sleep properly or don’t sleep at all.” I talked to him through the opened door. He could hear me, I was sure of that.
Sanji opened his eyes and pushed half of his body to rise from his sleeping mat. From the way his eyes were widening, he must be surprised as to why I appeared at this hour and in this form.
“What are you doing?” Sanji asked in a whisper.
“Taking a walk.” I shrugged, even though he couldn’t see my shoulders behind the tent door.
Sanji moved closer towards the tent and opened the door slowly. “Come in.”
I blinked my eyes without moving. “Are you alone in this tent?”
“Of course.” Sanji nodded. “Come in quickly.”
“You don’t want to join in the fun?”
“Not interested. I’m sure you’re the one behind all of those, right?” He shook his head.
“Heh, you don’t suspect those creatures but me?” I smirked.
“Well, there are some points that didn’t match. I still need to hear your side of story to complete it. Instead of going out there to listen to their ramblings, It’s a lot better for me to ask you directly.” Sanji returned the smirk with his own sexy smirk.
“Fine.” I grumbled and drifted into his tent. Only after I entered that he closed the door tightly.
“Tom would be pissed if he knew you’re in my tent alone. At night.” His teasing smile complemented the nasty glint in his eyes. He truly resembled a naughty fox in a glance.
