My OP Minion System in the Apocalypse

Chapter 90 Invest In The Future

Finally, I spent some time walking around and stretching out my muscles.

The night was rapidly approaching and my Minions should be returning from their expeditions very soon. I heard the sound of ruffling in the forest before Chloe appeared, coming back to the settlement.

"Welcome back."

"Hey~"

Bishop and one of my Residential Heater Scout Minions also came back, following shortly behind her. From what I could see, they all appeared unharmed, with no major issues.

A few minutes later, my main Minion group was returning, coming back into the camp like a sea of soldiers. They made their way to the entrance, located on the east side. As they came back in, my Minion Manager made its way to me.

It was a little bit more than the previous day. I decided to craft another Warrior Minion, bringing my total to 3 Warrior Minions. I simple crafted the rest of the remaining resources I had into Scout Minions, basically in the same way I did the previous day. I still wanted to expand my combat divisions before I began investing more in resource-gathering. Otherwise, I won't have enough escorts.

I set up dinner on the fireplace once again, however, I decided to look on the Grand Exchange to see if there were any different foods that I might have wanted to try.

<Grand Exchange>

Search: snacks, Order: hot

1. [x1] chips - 3 Tokens

2. [x5] meat skewers - 2 Tokens

3. [x5] hard lollies (packet) - 4 Tokens

4. [x1] beef jerky (bag) - 3 Tokens

5. [x100] miso soup (packet)  - 25 Tokens

-

Now that I was looking at this, I was honestly surprised. There must have been systems which provided these items, but some things, like lollies, didn't make sense to me. Did somebody have the 'sweets system' or 'candy system'? I guess there are a lot of people on earth and most systems I've seen have been pretty unique.

It was still pretty interesting though.

"Hey, Chloe, do you like lollies?"

"Lollies? Yeah, I like them, why?"

"Well there are some on the Grand Exchange, I thought I might get some."

"Ah, that would be nice~"

I decided to buy them since I had plenty of Tokens to spare at this point. A few moments, later, the bag of lollies appeared in my hand. From what I could see, they looked just like normal lollies, like ones you'd find in a supermarket. They had complete, professional packaging as well like they'd been made in a factory.

I wonder how they managed to get a hold of these...?

Whatever the case, I opened the bag and handed one to Chloe. The two of us both unwrapped the little piece of candy and stuck them into our mouths.

I mean, the flavour was what you'd expect. It was nothing special, but that in itself was pretty impressive.

"Mm, it's good~"

"I guess."

I was never a massive fan of candy, but even I could appreciate the subtle yet calming taste of such nostalgic food. As the two of us enjoyed the taste of the candy, the sounds of zombies began getting louder in the background.

"Hey, can you put on some music?" Chloe asked.

"Um, yeah, I'll do that."

I did have a second music disk, I placed it onto the music player, clicking it in place. A few moments later, the room was filled with the sound of the music. It was different to the previous disk, it was like some soft rock, mixed with rap. It also wasn't really my style but I didn't really mind it.

The music somewhat drowned out the sound of zombies outside. It was louder than the soft alternate-pop of the other disk, but I guess I'll never really be able to remove myself from the sound of rotten flesh being ripped apart. The two of us sat and listened to the music for a little while before I removed the dinner which was being cooked on the fireplace.

It was the same meal we had been having every day.

When you're hungry, it doesn't really matter what you eat, I didn't really mind the fact that I was eating the same thing every day.

I served it in two bowls as usual and then we slowly had our dinner.

My Minions didn't seem to be struggling with the zombies for the most part. The zombies were coming in droves and slowly getting pushed back by my large army. I figured that I'd be fine to get some sleep.

I lay down on the bed, slowly closing my eyes as I drifted off into the darkness.

*

I was awoken by the sound of nothing in particular.

My body was a little bit sore after all of the heavy work I was doing the previous day. It was only slight pensive pain, so I could still chop down trees today. I opened the wooden door of the hut and looked outside. It was certainly cold, but aside from that, there wasn't really anything interesting to observe.

Well, I guess I'd get ready to chop some more trees. It was the most useful thing I could think of doing at this time. My Minions do the majority of the work for me, so there's technically no need for me to even go outside. But even negligible amounts of resources are still resources and the physical gain from the exercise is important as well.

I called my Residential Heater Scout Minion, which I had a few of, over to me and walked with it toward the border of my settlement. I took my [Fine Logger's Axe] out of my inventory and prepared to chop down a tree.
