Chapter 33 A Big Problem!
"Ulysses, I want you to brew me antidotes for poison, paralysis, skin blotching, cough, fever . . ." I took a moment to think, but there were so many sicknesses to mention, and my mind was all jumbled. I couldn't get the words out.
". . . and other things that related to the effect of Blood Rain," I added instead.
". . ."
Five seconds passed that Ulysses didn't answer, and I was starting to wonder if he was deaf or mute?
I was about to repeat my sentences when he nodded his head.
". . ." I pried for his face but couldn't see amidst the darkness within his hood.
"What do you need to make that happen?"
". . . Lab."
". . ." A man of few words, I see.
"Coordinate with Daedalus to get your lab. I want those medicines pronto."
". . ." Ulysses just nodded and didn't say anymore.
I didn't know anything about medicine, and there was nothing to talk about with him. It was awkward to just stare at him, so I went to Athena's side.
"I'm going to survey the surroundings first." I was soaked to the bones, and the rain was starting to disperse. I didn't want to catch a cold and die of fever, so I needed to wash off this rain from my body as soon as possible.
There was a sea on the west side, so there was bound to be a river running towards it.
I could probably wait for Daedalus to build that Water Well, but I preferred to explore the surroundings first than wait around. That at least solve one of the many things on my to do list.
"Could you handle things from here?"
Athena nodded. "Just don't go too far from your territory, my lord."
That was the most insincere thing I had ever heard from her mouth this day.
I didn't say anything more and proceeded to check the sea in the west.
System, if I die without someone killing me, what would happen to the summoned tokens?
<If Host die of natural causes or is mowed by beasts, they'll merely return to the place they belonged>
No wonder Athena sounded so fake a moment ago. Could summon tokens kill its summoner?
<Absolutely not. Summoned tokens cannot kill the one who summoned them, directly or indirectly>
That's reassuring. I thought as I threaded the vast plains towards the blue sea.
These idle grasslands could be developed. I thought as I eyed the vast land with nothing but overgrown grass on its muddy soil.
Though I wondered what would grow here since it was near salty water. I estimated that the edge of the grassland was at least fifty meters from the nearest coconut trees on the shore.
Or maybe I could just turn this into a port or salt-making factory?
Though I had to be wary about the high tide in case it rained nonstop in this world. The water level would surely rise, and I was clueless about how many meters the sea would rise when it did.
Though this rain was short, it would give me an inkling if my territory was a flooded prone area.
Blood Rain.
Rain for seven days.
Great.
This would surely increase the sea level, and the ocean being near my house was adding to my headache. A fifty-meter setback wouldn't cut it. At least a hundred or so to make my mind at ease.
Hmm . . . my head hurts from the rigorous pounding of my veins. I decided to dismiss the thought until I got a better picture of the sea.
For all I knew, the ocean wasn't even going to be a problem. I was just thinking of unnecessary things and beating myself.
System.
<Yes, Host?>
Something was bugging me since day one. Care to enlighten me for a moment.
<Sure Host>
We were suddenly brought here, right?
<That's right>
Then, is this village a summoning spot for players? Like the one, I read in novels and webtoons. Were they going to be more players coming into this world?
<. . . You sure are perceptive>
It wasn't hard to guess when you were paying attention.
<Others don't Host>
Were you planning to keep the answer from me again until I asked?
<I was waiting for you if you would notice>
<But yes . . . more will come into this world. However, the spots vary. There are hundreds of newbie villages scattered across Nordlands, and Host is lucky that you appeared here>
Lucky?
<Your location is ideal for building your kingdom>
I guess it was the perfect place. There was a forest for hunting and gathering. A cave and Rocky hills for stones. And I bet there was even a river for fresh water somewhere since there was a sea and mountains nearby and a water well that the villages had previously used.
It was even better if there was an aquifer running along in my territory. I bet the chances were high since the pervious villagers all used a water well for their water source.
And most of all, it had only one entrance and exit by land.
". . ."
Anyway, what do you mean that some people might appear here? When is this exactly?
<Its random, and even the system didn't know the exact date>
I see . . .
I got to my destination after crossing the grass plains. There were coconut trees along the way and logs and small boulders to forage. I didn't miss the chance to pick those up along the way.
Before, I thought that they were just trash in my inventory. But now . . . every stone, pebble, logs were valuable if I was going to build my home and survive this apocalyptic event.
Eventually, I reached my destination, and what stumbled before me was a vast expanse of blue sea with terrifying waves.
I didn't know if it was raining these past days for the waves to reach four meters in height, but one thing was for sure . . .
I needed to get Daedalus and Athena here.
ASAP!
