Chapter 195 195. ACT {15}:- A Lying Mermaid Queen.
Displayed on the arena's huge screen, everyone was able to see Orion swallow the pill he pulled out of his item box, and they also watched the changes that occurred to his body as well.
They noticed how his hands grew longer, and his fingers became webbed, causing the entire crowd in the arena to gasp with surprise.
Even the Apex Mages watching from their seats couldn't conceal the surprised looks they all had on their faces.
However, there was one Apex Mage who didn't have a look of surprise on her face, and it was Ariel.
Ariel simply smiled when she saw the changes that were happening to Orion.
"Hehe.... It looks like my pills are working perfectly." She muttered to herself, but Elena was sitting right beside her and she heard what Ariel said.
"You made this?" Elena asked with a surprised look on her face.
"Of course, I did. Didn't I tell you I was working on something to help everyone swim underwater?" Ariel asked and Elena recalled the first picnic she had with Ariel, Evelyn, Karen, Mia, and Orion.
During that time, Ariel had invited Orion to come to her kingdom but he had rejected her offer even though Ariel had promised to give him something that would allow him to swim underwater.
"Yes, you did," Elena agreed with her after recalling the things that happened during their first picnic together. "So, how long does the pill last exactly?"
"It lasts for about an hour before it wears off, but this should be more than enough time to help the students find the portal they're looking for."
Elena nodded her head in understanding and listened as Ariel continued to tell her about a few other things she didn't know.
"Also no side effects have been discovered after you use the pill, and so far, it remains the best pill I have ever concocted till now. Of course, I have other pills that can last days, months, and possibly years if you use them, and if everything goes according to plan, we'll be able to have hundreds and possibly thousands of people visiting the Merfolk kingdom soon."
Hearing how much Ariel had grown, Evelyn complimented her. "Your skills in pill concoction have really improved over the years."
The cute mermaid Queen giggled and puffed out her chest out with pride. "Of course, it has. Who do you take me for?"
"Um, a lazy queen who likes to sleep all day while leaving her grandfather to handle the affairs of her kingdom?"
"Well, that's not a lie," Karen muttered beside Ariel, and Ariel glared at her, causing Karen to clear her throat loudly.
"Ahem, I meant to say, Her Majesty has improved a lot in recent years, Queen Evelyn."
Ariel's scary look relaxed a bit and she nodded in agreement. "Karen is right; I am no longer the same lazy NEET I used to be."
"That's right, Her Majesty is now a hardworking NEET who likes to sleep a lot less than she used to."
"That's it, Karen. I'm definitely deducting from your earnings this month."
"Huh? Your Majesty, you can't do this to me. All I did was tell the truth. You shouldn't do this to me."
"I can and I just did."
"Please…"
"Nope. Hehe... That will teach you never to mess with me again."
"But I wasn't messing with you."
"Then it will teach you to say nice words to your superiors."
"But I thought we were friends."
"Don't bring friendship into this. It won't change a thing."
"Aww," Karen pouted with a cute look on her face while her puppy dog eyes stared cutely at Ariel.
"You can stare all you want, Karen. I'm still not changing my mind."
"Really?"
"Yes. Anyways, I think you guys need to hear about how the academy came to ask for my pills."
"And how did they do that?" Elena asked.
"It all started when I was busy on a wonderful morning."
"Ahem, don't you mean sleeping like a log on a beautiful morning?"
"Zip it, Karen."
"Okay, Your Majesty." n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Good. Now, where was I? Oh, I remember now. It all happened when Lucille came to pay me a visit at the castle. She explained some things to me, and that was when I understood the reason behind her sudden visit to my kingdom."
Ariel continued. "Initially, I didn't want to give the academy the pills, but because they couldn't stop begging me to give it to them, I had no choice but to show them how generous I was," Ariel explained while she relaxed comfortably on the chair she was sitting on.
Karen giggled while she was listening to their conversation and she couldn't help but ask. "Was this before or after you begged the academy to allow you to attend the tournament as a special guest of the academy?"
"Shut up, Karen, you're ruining things for me."
Karen apologized and returned her gaze to the screen but Evelyn and Elena giggled after hearing how Ariel had pleaded to be invited to the academy tournament as a special guest.
Initially, the academy hadn't wanted to invite all of the Apex Mages in the mortal realm because Lucille had wanted them to watch the tournament from the comfort of their homes, but she had always intended to invite King Simba, Edward, and Evelyn to the tournament. So, the moment Ariel heard about this, she pleaded to be invited as well.
Due to her persistence, Lucille agreed to her demands, and she decided to invite the rest of the Apex Mages into the mortal realm as well.
That way, there wouldn't be any discord between the Apex Mages, and Lucille would be more pleased with her decision because it felt a lot better to have all the Apex Mages at the arena rather than inviting only three Apex Mages to the academy.
And with that out of the way, everyone returned their gaze to the screen to see Orion facing against a huge serpent and a school of deadly razorfins.
However, there was something Ariel had noticed while staring at the screen.
"Is it just me or did Orion not only cast a tier three water spell, but also a tier five water spell?" Ariel asked after noticing the water orbs that glowed around Orion.
