Chapter 175 175 Morning
"We really need to find a way to level her up, her next skill would be more powerful," Gabriel said.
"You are right, she has to learn to fight or we can get her a level boost potion, but that would require a lot of work," Melissa said.
"A level boost potion, is that the same thing you gave to Alex?" Max asked.
"Yes," Melissa replied.
"Where do we find it?" Max asked immediately, he was clearly excited about the level boost.
"It only works if you are below level 20, and I'm sure you are, wait...what level are you guys?" Melissa asked.
"19, 19, 18, 13... I'm 22" Alex said as he pointed the four of them.
"Then the level boost would only be usable by Rebecca, though I got it from the Silver Continent so we'll have to go there first," Melissa said.
"Wait!! Alex, how did you know our level?" Gabriel asked.
"Epic skill, have you forgotten"
"Ohh, I guess I'm really tired, to be honest, I'm actually sleepy" Gabriel mumbled.
"You know you can't fall asleep here right, we are in the middle of a forest, they would likely be other beasts apart from the ghouls we faced" Max spoke.
"I know and I'm hungry, we brought bread right, Alex can I have one," Gabriel said.
"I'm also hungry and Gabriel are you sure you are okay, when we bought the bread we already shared it equally, have you forgotten already," Max said.
"It seems that failed spell he did took away his memories" Lynx chuckled.
"Failed spell, Gabriel did a failed spell?" Alex asked.
"Yeah, he did his usual fireball enhanced by a magic boost potion and then he tried to control the flames by splitting it and aiming for 20 different ghouls at a time," Max said with laughter in his voice.
"Most of them failed but it was a good try, unlike Nova Online where all your spells are guaranteed to work as long as you have enough Mana at your disposal," Melissa said.
"We should rest a little before heading back," Max said as he lay on the ground, Gabriel had finished one of his bread and was already on the ground with his eyes closed.
Unlike Nova Online where their strength can be recovered by resting a little, now they had to sleep or rest for a long time to recover enough strength to walk back to the city.
"Alex I have a question" Melissa whispered as she moved close to him.
"I'm listening"
"You know what you said about being one of the chosen ones, I think you might be right," Melissa said.
"I wasn't joking when I said that,"
"When I disappeared from the potion shop, I didn't visit the same person you guys visited, I met one of the Elder gods"
"You met them, what did he say?" Alex asked immediately.
"She explained what you were trying to tell us about the demon Lord, and she also told me to keep an eye on you," Melissa said.
"She...one of them did have a feminine voice, they told you to keep an eye on me...at least they are not trying to kill me anymore, so that's reassuring" Alex smiled.
"What did you do to them that they are so hell-bent on killing you, according to what you told us, the last god that chose you committed the crime right, why do you have to pay," Melissa said.
"I have no idea, but I'm glad they stopped trying to kill me, it would have been hard for me to survive here with different beasts roaming around," Alex said with a smile.
"I have another question regarding our battle today, are you a mage? if not what are those abilities of yours?" Melissa asked.
"You also have new abilities right?" Alex asked her.
"Yes I do, but I haven't used them nor do I know how to use them, I'll train but not now"
"Do you train?" Alex asked surprised.
"Before the game was made I was already good in archery, I was one of the best students in high school, so when I saw the game it was an obvious choice, I'm used to training and in this world, I also train my abilities along with my archery skill"
"No wonder you were able to climb to the top,"
"That's part of it...are you trying to avoid my question earlier?" Melissa spoke.
"I was, it seems it didn't work, to tell you the truth I don't really understand all of my abilities and what I did in this battle was a first for me, I'm not even sure I can do it again," Alex said.
"Maybe before we leave, we should visit a training class"
"In Melmond city?"
"All cities have those, this world isn't safe so everyone is supposed to be trained to protect themselves in times of danger, we'll just take one session and then leave," Melissa said.
"Huh!! the sun is coming up" Alex mumbled.
"I'm really sleepy, but I can't sleep here, I won't be able to fall asleep, guys the sun is up we should start moving," Melissa said as she stood up but she got no answer.
The rest of the group was already asleep even Rebecca used Gabriel's body as a pillow to sleep.
"Alex, you wake them up" Melissa spoke.
"Me, oh I have a great idea, beasts!!! we need to leave immediately!!" Alex shouted.
"What that!!" Lynx shouted as he stood up from the ground, he quickly bent down and picked a branch from the ground pointing it around.
Max, Gabriel, and Rebecca also stood up immediately, Gabriel carried Rebecca on his shoulder and ran backward without looking at them.
Melissa and Alex couldn't hold back their laughter as they fell on the ground laughing, Gabriel was the most impressive out of all of them, he was trying to escape with Rebecca.
"You were lying to us" Lynx shouted.
"It's morning, we need to leave and try not to shoot anything with your gun," Alex said mockingly making Lynx look down at his hand.
"A stick" Lynx's face twitched.
"This isn't a joke Alex, I thought we have been ambushed" Gabriel shouted.
"That's why you don't need to sleep in the forest and we have to leave now, the sun is almost up," Alex said.
"The sun, we didn't even sleep that much," Max complained.
"We don't need to go to school or go to work here, we can take the day off and rest in an inn or so, the battle we fought was truly tiring," Alex said.
"You are right, we should quickly head back," Gabriel said, "I'm sorry for carrying you all of a sudden"
"I'm fine, I was just surprised a little" Rebecca giggled.
"Do you know any inn in Melmond Alex?" Lynx asked.
"I don't," Alex said.
"How do you know they are inns in Melmond, what if they are no inns," Lynx said.
"Then we'll buy a house to sleep in today or rent a house," Alex said.
"They are inns in every city, no need to ask," Max said.
"I knew that, I was getting back at him for doing something childish back there when we were sleeping, I'm going to keep disturbing you" Lynx said.
"Let it go, I'll pay for your inn" Alex said.
"You think I don't have money" Lynx said with a smug expression.
"I'll also buy bullets for your gun" Alex added.
"You have a deal" Lynx said without hesitation.
...
After few minutes of walking Alex who was in front stopped and motioned the rest of them to stop, he was sure he heard a noise just now but he wasn't sure if it was a beast.
"Alex please let this no be another prank, I'm seriously tired" Gabriel said.
"Sheeshh..." Melissa instructed and the rest of them heard voices and whispers.
"We should hide just to be safe, we don't need something strange popping out on us" Alex whispered.
