Chapter 977: A Proposition for the Future

"We're here."

With Vlrvadh waiting for him at one of the narrow corridors making up Ecalos, it did not take long for the two to arrive at Dnal fo Nigiro, prompting Valyr to come face-to-face with the Forsaken Race once more.

Though, unlike before, where they looked at him with either curiosity or slight disdain, almost every being there was looking at him with awe as he and Vlrvadh made their way to where Ryvrthe stayed.

'Who knew the effects from Ryvrthe's quest would be this pronounced?' thought Valyr to himself, noticing that the gazes of some of the Forsaken Race had already gone beyond mere awe, giving him the feeling that they were worshiping him in some way.

Although he was curious as to how far his reputation went since his reputation in both Ecalos and Dnal fo Nigiro were maxed out, Valyr saved the thought for another time as he and Vlrvadh arrived in front of Ryvrthe's place.

"I've already been informed by the Sapient One beforehand that you're free to enter on your own," sent Vlrvadh to Valyr through the system, looking at him with a slightly fervent gaze. "Is there anything else you need my help with?"

Pondering over his question for a bit, Valyr eventually thought back to the reason why he made a trip to the inheritance in the first place.

With a faint smile, he then sent back a reply that made Vlrvadh's eyes slightly widen in response.

"Try asking some of the people you know if they would like to venture beyond Dnal fo Nigiro."

"By that, you mean...?" Becoming silent for a bit, it took some time for Vlrvadh to send a message back, his body language currently that of excitement and expectation.

"It doesn't just extend to the surface," replied Valyr, a slight smile now adorning his lips. "They'll come along with me back to where I come from."

"To Veldanyr."

As those words appeared in front of Vlrvadh's screen, it took a while for the man to process the words Valyr had sent him.

Though, once he felt like he'd fully wrapped his head around the young man's message, Vlrvadh immediately gave Valyr a look of excitement as he replied that he'll do the task to the best of his abilities.

Letting out a bit of laughter as he watched Vlrvadh swiftly make his way back to the center of Dnal fo Nigiro, Valyr soon turned around to face the entrance to Ryvrthe's place, eventually arriving the area that most of the Forsaken Race rarely stepped foot in.

"It's only been over a day or so since you've left the inheritance." Looking around to see where Ryvrthe was, Valyr eventually saw the man making his way towards him with a faint smile.

"How much time has passed outside?"

"Around a month, give or take," said Valyr in response, reciprocating the goodwill Ryvrthe had just shown him. "Anyways, I'm sure you have an idea as to why I've come here, right?"

"Does it have something to do with what Vaughn and I talked about?" asked Ryvrthe back, to which Valyr nodded in response.

Faintly nodding back at those words, Ryvrthe let out a faint sigh before giving Valyr a slightly bitter smile. "Since that's the case, then the words I've told Vaughn still stand."

"You're the owner of the inheritance. Technically, we're just beings informally settling within your owned territory."

"Whatever you plan to do with us, there's no reason for us to reject."

Listening to the words that came out of Ryvrthe's mouth, Valyr could not help but scratch the back of his head as he let out a low sigh.

After all, from the way Ryvrthe spoke, the man was making it seem like he and the other Forsaken Ones were merely objects he could control on a whim, servants that had no right of freedom.

Of course, with how he'd interacted with Vlrvadh and Ryvrthe back then, as well as how Vaughn talked about them with him in great detail, such thoughts had not even crossed Valyr's mind at all.

"You're making it seem like all the interactions we've had so far were for nothing," said Valyr, looking at Ryvrthe with a wry smile. "I may be the owner of the inheritance, but I never had any intention of forcing any control on you or the others whatsoever."

"Even if I did ask something from you and the others, it would be on the level of equals, not as that of a superior and a subordinate."

"..." Listening to Valyr's words, Ryvrthe eventually looked down at the ground in silence as the gears in his mind continued to turn.

At some point, the man let out a wide sigh before looking back at Valyr with an apologetic smile. "I didn't believe it at first when Vaughn told me about it, but your words just now have definitely put my heart at ease."

Hearing those words, it did not take long for Valyr to put two and two together in his mind, slightly frowning as he asked, "Wait... that was a test?"

"Mostly," replied Ryvrthe, continuing to adorn a smile. "But I still partly meant what I said. After all, we've been informally settling in this place for a long time. That fact hasn't changed."

"In any case, I'm sure that's not the reason why you're here," said the man after that, pushing the topic of informal settlement aside for the meantime. "If what Vaughn told me back then was correct, you wouldn't mind having me and the other Forsaken Ones leave the inheritance?"

"I wouldn't." Valyr shook his head. "However, I wouldn't be able to bring all of you out in one go. After all, I'm still in the process of getting a place that you and the others could stay in for the meantime."

"Aside from that, I'll also need to procure skills that would allow you and the others to blend with the other humans," the young man continued. "With that, I'll probably be able to only bring you and a few of the other Forsaken Ones out for the meantime."

"I see," said Ryvrthe after some time, nodding in understanding.

Looking back at Valyr, he then asked, "Is there a reason why you want us to leave the inheritance?"

"There are three reasons, actually." Valyr did not beat around the bush. "First off, all of you deserve to return to Veldanyr, considering how long all of you have been holed up in this

place."

"Even without any other motives, I still would've probably helped you leave this place."

"The second reason is that Vaughn told me that the knowledge you have would be able to help me out with what I have in mind," continued the young man.

"What's the last reason, then?" asked Ryvrthe after that, his curiosity now more than piqued.

"I'm going to need some manpower for an idea I plan to do long-term," said Valyr in

response.

"And that would be...?" Ryvrthe raised his eyebrow in curiosity, to which Valyr responded

with just two words.

"A faction."
