Getting confirmation from the system that he'd obtained the skill he needed, Valyr went ahead and brought up the skill's description in front of him, curious as to what kind of ability it had to allow him to tap into the Shard of Defiance's Resonance Mode.

Though, after comparing it with the skill he got from the Enlightenment Skill Pavilion, the young man soon realized that the effects of the two skills were more or less the same.

"...How would these skills allow me to tap into the Shard of Defiance's Resonance Mode exactly?" asked Valyr to himself with a slight frown, wondering whether Vaughn actually said all that back then to pull a prank on him.

"At first, I thought [Eyes of Enlightenment] was designed that way to act as a foundation of sorts for the two other skills." The frown on Valyr's face deepened. "But now that I've checked [Eyes of Awakening] out..."

"Are these skills really intended for that purpose?"

Whoosh!

Just as that question left his mouth, Valyr felt something deep within him move all of a sudden, briefly causing him to think that something primordial had awoken from its slumber. However, before he could pinpoint where that sensation exactly appeared within his body, the sensation disappeared as if it wasn't there in the first place, making the young man wonder whether or not everything he'd felt just now was a mere illusion.

Ding!

While he was still in the midst of wrapping his head around what happened just now, a couple of notification sounds suddenly echoed in his mind, making the young man frown as his train of thought was cut short.

Letting out a low sigh as he'd just missed an opportunity to get a better idea of what just happened, Valyr eventually pushed his thoughts to the side to take a look at the notifications he received...

Only to then realize that the cause of what he felt just now was none other than the notifications themselves.

[The skills 'Eyes of Enlightenment' and 'Eyes of Awakening' have fused together to form 'Eyes of the Erudite'.]

[With the eyes of the Erudite, a part of your innate self has finally begun to see the truth, waking up from its long slumber.]

"..." Feeling a bit of confusion after he was done reading through the notifications he received, the young man took a bit of time to process what he'd just read, only to then fall into greater confusion.

"...What did I awaken exactly?" asked Valyr to himself as he sent his senses inward to possibly get a better idea of what was going on.

Though, after seeing that nothing whatsoever changed inside him, the young man instead fell into even greater confusion, forcing him to vigorously shake his head in a bid to snap his senses back to reality.

Then, taking in a few deep breaths, Valyr decided not to think about the second notification for the meantime, instead focusing his attention on the first notification he received.

"Hopefully I get some clues from the skill's description," said the young man to himself, bringing up a screen containing the skill in front of him.

This skill allows the user to willfully enter a temporary state of self-transcendence, allowing one to understand concepts that would normally be difficult to the layman. Whether it be skills, spells, or esoteric concepts like Intents and Forces, all lay bare under the eyes of the Erudite, showing one the intrinsic truths of the universe.

This skill also allows the user to tap into a primordial state of being, though the chances of successfully doing so are low.

This skill also boosts the user's WIS by 10%.

"Yeah... that doesn't really help much."

Reading through the skill's description a few times to make sure he did not miss even a single detail, it was only then did Valyr get a rough idea of what was going on.

"It could be safe to presume that whatever awakened inside me earlier must have something to do with the Shard of Defiance's Resonance Mode," murmured Valyr to himself. "After all, the skill says that I now have the ability to tap into a primordial state of being." "Considering what I felt back when I first tapped into that ethereal state... I suppose a primordial state of being describes it best," continued the young man, only to then bitterly smile soon after. "Then again, I'm mostly working on a ton of what-ifs at the moment."

"Besides the other parts of the skill that I frankly have no clue what they mean, I'm curious as to what the skill means about allowing me to understand concepts better."

By the time he finished his train of thought, Valyr let out a low sigh as he closed the screen he brought up.

Then, looking around the pavilion one last time to mark a couple of skills he would definitely grab for himself in the future, Valyr soon left the Awakening Skill Pavilion, only to then conjure a rift that would bring him to the place where he and Vaughn last interacted in person.

Swoosh!

"The Gates of Transcendence." Arriving at the quaint little spot that Vaughn's memory extension resided in, Valyr swiftly brought up the information the man gave him about the inheritance, heading straight for the place where the final skill he needed could be found. Though, with how small the entire place was in comparison to something like the Gates of Awakening, it did not take long for him to arrive where the skills were, with all of them surprisingly being located inside a large wooden chest.

"Huh." Slightly amused by the stark contrast that formed between how skills were stored in the Gates of Awakening and the Gates of Transcendence, Valyr briefly let out a chuckle as he opened the chest, only to be greeted by a whole bunch of esoteric skill books.

Going through the skill books one by one, it was only after a few minutes of digging did he find the skill he needed, immediately absorbing its contents the moment he was certain he'd

grabbed the right one.

Smiling as he took a look at the notification he'd received, Valyr went ahead and sat on the

ground as he waited for the same reaction as before to happen.

Though, before the young man could even prepare himself for what came next, he immediately felt a strong wave of energy wash over his body all of a sudden, causing him to fall unconscious as the system continued to send out its notifications.
