Chapter 1070: Talks of the Frontlines

Just as both Edward and Wells began to wonder once more as to where Valyr could be, the two immediately had looks of surprise on their faces once they saw the door to the room opened.

At first, their expression turned into that of excitement, thinking that the person they were wanting to see had finally come.

Yet, when the appearance of the person had come into full view for the two, their expressions immediately shifted, with Edward immediately letting out bloodlust.

"Don't you dare move any further." Though he still looked like a teenager, the bloodlust Edward gave off reminded those that sensed it of his hardships in the frontlines, fighting against monsters and foes while teetering on the edge between life and death.

Swiftly grabbing his trusty spear in the corner, the young teenager tightly gripped on it, pointing its tip towards the stranger that entered their room. "I'd suggest you step back and close the door."

Expecting his comrade in the battlefield to do the same thing as him, Edward was instead left at a slight loss for words when Wells began to let out a peal of laughter all of a sudden, looking at the stranger that entered the room as if he'd been expecting him.

Unsurprisingly, Wells' reaction being the exact opposite of what he expected confounded the young teenager, especially since the stranger was faintly giving off an aura that he'd become familiar with thanks to the battlefield.

The aura of imminent death.

Thankfully, Edward had no need to dwell in his thoughts any further, with Wells clearing up the confusion he'd felt. "It's been a while since you've last used your disguise skill. Did you upgrade it? Took me a lot longer than I thought to recognize your other identity."

"I did upgrade it," said the stranger as he nodded with a smile, only for the man's appearance to transform into something Edward was more than familiar with.

"Valyr!" Realizing that he'd pointed his spear at the one that got him off the streets, the young teenager inwardly felt guilt as he immediately put the spear back where it was. "You're back!"

"Apologies for not giving you a heads-up," said Valyr in response, ruffling Edward's head as he knew what was going on in the young man's mind. "Also, that kind of attitude is definitely going to save you a ton of headache later on."

"In any case, both of you have changed a lot since the last time we saw each other," continued the young man, making his way to a nearby chair before sinking it. "Eaten breakfast yet?"

"Was about to, actually," replied Wells, ordering a set of meals from the inn before looking back at his friend. "So, how have the last 10 months been for you? You've gotten a lot stronger."

"Very productive, to say the least," said the young man, chuckling as he went on to a narrate a summarized version of what he'd gone through while the two were out in the battlefield.

Of course, Valyr made sure not to include information such as his meeting with three Divine- level beings, or the fact that he'd been given a first-hand look at the history of Veldanyr. Instead, he mostly focused on his gains, leaving the two with their mouths slightly agape as he conjured a wisp of Prime Azure Energy in front of him.

Feeling the inherent power of destruction contained within the dark blue wisp Valyr conjured, Wells took a while to shift his gaze away from it as he looked at the young man with a wry smile.

"I'm guessing you're already Rank 4?" Wells asked Valyr. "Wouldn't be feeling this faint hint of intimidation from your aura if that weren't the case."

"Yeah. Just recently, actually." Valyr nodded, contracting his aura as much as he could to not affect the two. "All in all, I've gained a lot more than I initially thought."

"How about you two? How has the frontlines treated you?"

Hearing these words leave the young man's mouth, it went without saying that both Wells and Edward were eager to share their experiences with him, even going so far as to start their narration before they enlisted themselves to the frontlines.

Though most of their narration was more or less a retelling of what Wells told him through their back-and-forth messages back then, Valyr still intently listened to the two, committing all of the additional information they were giving him to memory.

Of course, that all changed once the two got to the part regarding the mission into orc territory, something Valyr felt he would need.

After all, the quest he got from An'xhur needed him to head deep into orc territory. Although a bit of well-timed questions here and there allowed him to get a slightly better idea of what the orc territory was like, Edward and Wells did not dwell on that part of their story too much, instead focusing on how they completed the mission.

"With how well Edward did in completing the mission, he's now been given the position of captain for a 100-man group," said Wells, making Valyr recall that the group accompanying the two in their mission only amounted to 30.

Being reminded how special of an existence Edward was to the War of the Three Sovereignties, Valyr continued to listen to their narration to the end, with the two ending it off with the personal improvements they've made before returning.

"Currently, I'm now at the middle levels of Rank 3," said Wells before pointing at Edward. "On the other hand, Edward just broke to Rank 3 pretty recently."

"It won't be long till I surpass you, Wells," replied Edward with a grin.

Watching the two interact as if they were the best of friends, Valyr was reminded of the way he spent his time with Wells in the past, feeling a bit of guilt at the fact that he'd gotten separated from them for over 10 months.

Though he knew he'd still remain busy for the foreseeable future, the young man aimed to slightly correct these wrongs, looking at the two with a smile.

"To be honest, I'm quite curious as to how strong you two have actually become," said Valyr, prompting the two to look back at him with slight interest. "But I suppose we could leave that for some other time."

"Instead, what I want to know about is the frontlines," continued the young man, his expression immediately becoming serious. "How is it as of late?"

"Stable," replied Wells as he donned a similar expression. "The defensive lines are finally beginning to hold up against the orcs' offensives, with a few of the stronger groups even going so far as to push it deeper into orc territory."

"If you want to know how our group is doing, we're currently at a slight advantage against the orcs," said Edward as he continued where Wells left off. "However, with the new weapons the Lord of All Trades created for the war, it won't be long till we get our revenge."

"Anyways, why are you asking about this?" Wells looked at Valyr with a hint of curiosity, only for his eyes to slightly widen in disbelief as he looked him in realization. "Wait, don't tell

me..."

"Need I say more?" Valyr let out laughter at Wells' reaction, only to then give Edward an affirmative nod. "If it isn't already obvious..."

"I plan on heading to the frontlines myself."
