Chapter 1062: Gaining Experience

Chapter 1062: Gaining Experience

"...Now that you've combined the essences you've extracted according to the ratio I've given you, it's time for us to move on to the final step." Looking over at Valyr's cauldron, Mystia nodded in satisfaction as she proceeded to infuse mana into her cauldron one last time.

Whoosh!

Watching Mystia from the other table, Valyr watched as she infused the mana into a part of the cauldron they hadn't touched all this time, causing his eyes to slightly widen in surprise once he noticed the water in the cauldron reducing on its own.

By the time only the combined essence was the only thing that remained inside the cauldron, Mystia had already grabbed a few empty vials, utilizing a bit of mana to coax the essence to enter the vials themselves.

Making sure to scoop up every bit of essence that was in the cauldron, Mystia nodded in satisfaction once more after noticing that her yield of Lesser Health Rejuvenation Potions were considerably higher than usual.

Putting a stopper on all of them, it was only then did she explain what Valyr needed to do. "As you can see, all you need to do now is to remove the water from the cauldron, then scoop up the combined essence using the vials."

"Preferably, it would be better if you use a bit of energy into scooping up the vials to reduce the mess and retain the efficacy of the essence, but it's all up to you."

"Got it." Nodding in response to her words, Valyr took in a deep breath as he went over the things Mystia had shown him just now.

Closing his eyes for a bit to make sure he didn't miss a single thing, the young man soon let out a drawn-out exhale as he released a bit of Prime Azure Energy out of his fingertips.

Converting the energy into the mana, he then proceeded to infuse it at the area Mystia targeted, causing the water in his cauldron to gradually reduce on his own.

Keeping an eye on the cauldron, he then grabbed some of the empty vials from the table, bringing them closer to him before going ahead and scooping some of the essence up. Swoosh!

Not knowing how exactly Mystia scooped up the essence into the vials with her energy, the young man was forced to experiment for a bit on his first attempt, only to end up dissolving the essence he'd scooped up because of it.

With that, the young man fell into a bit of a panic, wondering whether or not to continue experimenting with the use of energy to contain the essence into the vials.

Fortunately, it did not take long for him to come to a decision.

"Huuu..." Letting out a drawn-out exhale to reduce the nervousness he felt, Valyr slowly but surely scoop up the essence with the vials he'd grabbed, which gave him the opportunity to understand what Mystia briefly mentioned.

Seeing that the act of scooping up the essence with the vial dissolved some of the essence along the way, the young man swiftly adjusted the way he scooped it up, reducing the amount of essence that was dissolved with each vial.

By the time he had emptied out the cauldron, Valyr felt confident that he'd gotten the hang of manually containing the essence with the vials, noting that he'd be able to reduce the amount that was lost even more with a few more attempts.

"I'm surprised your first attempt has gone so smoothly." Watching the young man wipe off the essence that stuck to the side of his vials, Mystia looked at Valyr with a smile as she spoke her thoughts. "Are you sure you haven't done this before?"

"I have not," replied Valyr with a chuckle, shaking his head soon after. "Plus, could you really say it went smoothly? I did make a few mistakes along the way."

Though the young man did his best to mimic all of Mystia's movements to get a better understanding of the concoction process, there were still some things that mimicry didn't succeed in, considering that experience was more needed in those parts.

A good example of that would be the step where he needed to extract the essence from the purified ingredients, needing him to infuse his mana in a certain manner to coax the essence to slowly seep into the cauldron water.

However, with no foundation to work on whatsoever, the young man was forced to experiment a few times, with most of them even causing a considerable amount of the essence to be lost.

Thankfully, Mystia was there to guide him, allowing him to cut his losses as he eventually found the knack to extracting the essence.

Of course, the same mishap happened when he attempted to combine the essences together to form the foundation of a basic health potion, only being able to do so after Mystia told him what he needed to do once more.

'I'd consider it a fluke, really,' thought Valyr to himself as he went over those mistakes in his mind, reminding himself that he would slowly but surely work on them to make sure they wouldn't ever happen again.

Hearing Mystia reply to his words that he still did pretty good for someone without any background in alchemy, the young man merely smiled in response, thanking her as he identified one of the vials he'd just concocted.

Ding!

[Lesser Health Rejuvenation Potion] (Item)

Rarity: Common

A vial filled with fluid that contains the power to heal wounds. Made by a novice to the world

of alchemy, though has experience from other fields to rely on.

Once consumed, this vial restores 10% of the user's max HP.

'Hmm.' Briefly reading through the description of the item, Valyr eventually nodded in satisfaction as he compared his potion to the other health potions he'd bought in the past. Surprisingly, although the young man considered his attempt at concocting the potion as a fluke, its effects were still slightly above average, considering that an average health potion at the same tier healed about 8% of one's max HP.

"So, what do you think of your first attempt?" Feeling that she'd given Valyr enough time to ponder over things, Mystia caught his attention by asking him a question.

"Feels like I could do a few things better now that I have the experience," said the young man as he closed the screen in front of him.

Bitterly smiling at Mystia, he continued, "I really feel like I just lucked out of my way with this one."

"Is that so?" Mystia slightly smiled in amusement. "Frankly, I feel like you have a natural affinity for it. You just need more experience, that's all."

"That's probably the experience I've accumulated from blacksmithing kicking in." Valyr let out a chuckle in response. "But yeah. I think I could do better once I get another shot at it." "Fortunately for you, I have enough ingredients to last you even if you attempted it a hundred times in a row," replied Mystia, causing the two of them to let out a bit of laughter after that. And thus, after a brief conversation over what Valyr could improve during the concoction process, it did not take long for the two to delve into concocting a health potion once more.
