Chapter 1044: State of Affairs

Naturally, it went without saying that Valyr was caught off guard when Mystia revealed how much Mystic Energy he'd get from consuming one pill.

After all, if he were to consume all 10 pills, he would immediately gain a thousand points of Mystic Energy he could freely use, which would improve his maximum capacity by threefold. Then again, the young man's shock made sense, considering how all of the pills and elixirs he'd consumed thus far did not give such a drastic level of improvement once consumed.

'On second thought, there was that True Rebirth Pill I consumed,' thought the young man to himself as he took in a deep breath to calm down. 'There's also the Constitution Refinement Elixir Mystia gave me earlier before we entered the Mystic Plane.'

Thinking about it a bit further, Valyr eventually changed his mind, thinking that the effects brought about by the Mystic Infusion Pill were reasonable.

It was just the fact that Mystia had given him 10 of the pills in one go that made him think that the effects were quite absurd.

In fact, this thought of his was further reinforced after hearing the two talk about the Mystic Infusion Pill by the time he finished dwelling in his thoughts.

"How much points did the last version of the Mystic Infusion Pill give back then?" asked Marcus, his expression that of curiosity.

"I could only get it to give like 70 points of it on average," said Mystia after a bit of contemplation, scratching the back of her head as she continued to ponder over the question. "The best case scenario at the time was like 80 points, I think?"

"How about the pills you gave Valyr just now, then?" asked Marcus back, raising his eyebrow. "Are those the average results? Or are those what you'd consider the current best-case scenario?"

"I'd say it's a bit above average," replied Mystia after a bit of silence. "I have a feeling that if I push myself a bit more, I'd be able to have each pill give around 110 points."

"Then again, there's still a long way to go until I reach that end goal."

As the two got to this point of their conversation, Valyr felt that now was the right time to interrupt them if he wanted to obtain more information. "What do you plan on doing with the Mystic Infusion Pills?"

"Well, a lot of things," said Mystia in response, slightly shrugging her shoulders as Marcus smiled at the young man's question. "For one, it's an easy way to improve the maximum amount of Mystic Energy we have, though it does come with caveats."

"One of those caveats is the fact that you can only take a specific number of the pills at a time before you're able to take another set of them. It's part of the reason why I aim to maximize the amount each pill gives as possible."

"In any case, with your newly acquired knowledge of the Mystic Plane's hierarchy, I'm sure it won't take long for you to realize what I aim to do with these things."

As Mystia smiled after saying those words, Valyr faintly tilted his head in confusion as he willed the gears in his mind to start turning.

Fortunately, after a bit of mulling over the Mystic Infusion Pill, its effects, as well as the hierarchy of the Mystic Plane, the young man eventually understood what she meant by that.

"You plan to increase the number of beings on the hierarchy en masse?"

"Right on the mark," said Marcus, letting out a bit of laughter. "Long before you became the Mystic Plane's Guardian, Mystia was already formulating a rough plan in her mind to steadily improve the state of the Mystic Plane."

"By distributing the Mystic Infusion Pills en masse, she'd be able to connect a lot of beings to the Mystic Plane's hierarchy, which made up for the fact that they'd only be considered low- level according to the hierarchy."

"Now that I think about it, she told me back then that she gave a young man back then a bit of Mystic Energy as a way to test the feasibility of the plan," muttered Marcus to himself at some point, causing a shade of red to appear on Mystia's cheeks in response. "I wonder what happened to that young man?"

Hearing that, a faint smile adorned Valyr's face as he knew which young man Marcus was talking about.

Though, just as he was about to respond to the man's question, the young man was forced to remain silent after feeling Mystia glare daggers at his back, getting the feeling that he'd die if The were even to utter a single word about it.

Thankfully, Marcus did not notice anything happening between the two during that time, instead continuing to explain the rough plan Mystia drafted with the young man.

By the end of it, Valyr began to look at Mystia with a hint of admiration in her gaze, considering that she was not only the Imperial Alchemist of the Meltierre Heavenly Court, but also one of the imperial advisers of the Meltierre Empire.

Yet, even with those two occupations taking up most of her time, she still found a way to help the Mystic Plane, even going so far as to make progress in that regard.

Though the amiability of both Marcus and Mystia definitely made him feel like he was welcome at the Mystic Plane as its Guardian, it was only now did he feel like he'd truly become a part of the Mystic Plane.

'And to think that it's only been a couple of hours since Mystia and I entered this place,' thought the young man to himself, only for a question to surface in his mind not long after.

"Say, how fast does the time pass here when compared to Veldanyr?" As this question left his mouth, Valyr went ahead and grabbed one of the Mystic Infusion Pills before popping it into his mouth.

Feeling the pill immediately dissolve into a wave of iridescent energy that spread throughout his body, the young man suppressed the feeling of relief he was getting as he focused his attention on Mystia's response.

"Er... if I remember correctly, one day in Veldanyr is equivalent to four days here?" said Mystia, only to glance at Marcus in the hopes of him correcting her. "Or did it change thanks to Valyr's contributions?"

"It changed," said Marcus just as Valyr popped another Mystic Infusion Pill into his mouth. "A day in your world is now equivalent to around five days here. If the state of the Mystic Plane improves later on, that might turn into six days, perhaps even a week if we're lucky." "Got it." Taking a quick break from consuming Mystic Infusion Pills, Valyr nodded in response to Marcus' words as he felt greater strength course through his body thanks to the effects of [Guardian of the Mystic Plane].

"Why did you ask, though?" Watching Valyr continue to go through the Mystic Infusion Pills she gave him, Mystia soon asked him the question that was on her mind.

"Just... calculating how much time I could spend here before I need to head back," replied Valyr in the midst of absorbing a Mystic Infusion Pill.

For a while after that, the young man remained silent, inwardly pondering as to whether or not he should tell Mystia why he was heading back.

In the end, he felt that hiding such information from her would be useless in the end, considering that the Algerie Kingdom was under the Meltierre Empire's jurisdiction.

"In the next couple days, I plan to attend a meeting alongside Julian," said Valyr after the silence, consuming his sixth Mystic Infusion Pill in a row. "A meeting involving the directors of the Blacksmith Guild."

"I've heard about that a couple times." Mystia nodded in response. "They've unfortunately had to postpone the meeting a couple of times due to abrupt changes in the frontlines. Fortunately, the current situation on the frontlines are stable enough for them to push the meeting through."

"Why would you be attending their meeting, though?" asked Mystia with an expression that showed both curiosity and confusion. "You may be considered important in the Blacksmith Guild's eyes due to your contributions and achievements, but not to that extent, no?"

"I plan on persuading the directors to push the mass production of a couple of things." Feeling like he'd now gotten used to the sensation of the Mystic Infusion Pill, Valyr went ahead and popped two pills at once, only to belatedly regret the decision of doing so.

Forcing his knees not to buckle at the intense sensation of relief assaulting his entire body, Valyr took in a deep breath as he continued his explanation. "Two things... I plan on pitching two things to the directors."

"The first one... would be the armor that I'm wearing," said the young man, letting out a faint sigh of relief the moment the intense sensation assaulting him gradually subsided. "Julian took an interest on it the moment he saw its capabilities, wanting to distribute it amongst those at the frontlines to begin tipping the scales to our favor."

At those words, Mystia went ahead and used her identification skill on one of the pieces of armor Valyr was wearing, only for her eyes to widen in disbelief after seeing its performance. Smiling as he noticed Mystia's change in expression, Valyr went ahead and consumed the two remaining Mystic Infusion Pills in the satchel before taking out the arquebus from his spatial bracelet.

"As for the other thing I plan on pitching to the directors, that would be this weapon I've

invented."

Still left at a loss for words at the performance of Valyr's armor, it took a while for Mystia to shift her gaze towards the arquebus and use her identification skill on it, only to be left at a further loss for words.

"..." Not wanting to interrupt the thoughts going on in Mystia's head as she looked through the arquebus' description, Valyr went ahead and returned the arquebus back to his spatial bracelet before taking a look at the amount of Mystic Energy he currently had.

Seeing that he now had over a thousand points of Mystic Energy in his name, a faint smile adorned the young man's face as he returned his gaze towards Mystia.

"Say, Valyr..." Though, once he did, the situation instantly turned around as it became his

turn to be left at a loss for words.

"Want me to accompany you in that meeting?"
