Chapter 1016: Assessing One's Strength

Chapter 1016: Assessing One's Strength

Having been escorted by Claire to one of the town hall's guest rooms, Valyr and her decided to briefly catch up over what the other side was doing before eventually parting ways.

Once inside the room, the young man went ahead and opened up the chat feature to see if he'd gotten any messages over the past few days, only to find out that he had indeed received quite

a few.

Seeing that Julian was the one who sent the most messages to him, a wry smile briefly

appeared on Valyr's face as he thought about the things he'd asked from the man while he'd gone to Astarto to help defend against the monster tide.

Unsurprisingly, the contents of the messages Julian sent him were what he expected, which was an update on the things he'd asked for.

For one, Julian updated him on the situation regarding the plot of land he was looking for, telling Valyr that his friend had already located a few spots that would pique the young man's interest.

Thinking about what he planned on doing after ascending to Rank 4, the young man decided to respond back, asking Julian if he could ask his friend to look for more plots of land that were larger in area.

This thought came in mind when he thought about the number of people he'd bring out in the future from the Four Pillars' Inheritance.

In his mind, he would bring Ryvrthe and a few of the other Forsaken Ones to Veldanyr first so they could acclimate to the environment.

Then, once the other Forsaken Ones had more or less adjusted, he would then slowly bring out more of the Forsaken Ones out of the inheritance, gradually building a community for the Forsaken Ones on Veldanyr.

Though he had a feeling that what he was doing would cause issues later on, Valyr decided that the pros outweighed the cons, certain that he'd have a way to deal with it in the future.

Fortunately, Julian was amiable to the idea, asking Valyr regarding his specific criteria on the plot of land he wanted to obtain.

At some point, the man even joked that Valyr was planning to become the lord of a territory with the criteria he'd given, which the young man decided to sweep under the rug for the meantime.

After that, the two briefly caught up with what the other side was doing during the days they hadn't seen each other, with Valyr asking Julian if the meeting with the directors had already proceeded with him.

Unexpectedly, Julian replied that the meeting with the other directors had been postponed due to a sudden shift in the war, giving Valyr a heads-up that the meeting would now happen within half a week.

"Will you be able to come back to the kingdom before the meeting starts?" asked Julian through his message.

"I will," replied the young man, mulling over the question for quite some time.

With that, Valyr felt like he had gone through everything Julian had to say, prompting him to shift his attention to the remaining messages he'd received that weren't from the man.

Seeing that one of those messages were from Wells, telling him that he and Edward were on their way back to the kingdom, Valyr naturally wished them safe travels, saying that he was eager to hear their stories regarding the frontlines.

Going through the few remaining messages in just mere moments after that, Valyr soon let out a content sigh, closing the chat screen before him to bring up the notification screen after that.

"Now that I think about it, I haven't been able to take a good look at the things I'd gotten recently," murmured the young man to himself, skipping over the notifications he'd fully gone through before as he went through the remaining ones in chronological order.

Naturally, the first ones he took a look at were the notifications he'd received from the monster tide, which included the kill notifications he'd received from the eighth and ninth

wave.

Calculating that he had amassed a great chunk of XP from killing all those monsters, Valyr adorned a faint smile as he looked through the notifications he'd gotten from completing Alfaera's quest.

Ding!

[You've completed the quest: The Tidebreaker's Return.]

[Due to your exemplary performance, some of the rewards have been increased.]

[You have obtained 30,000,000 XP.]

[Your reputation in Astarto Town has increased by 1500 points. Current reputation: Legend (MAX).]

[As your reputation in Astarto Town has reached the maximum level, any excess reputation shall be converted to Planetary Reputation (Veldanyr) at a ratio of 5:1.]

[Your Planetary Reputation (Veldanyr) has increased by 200 points. Current reputation: Positive rumors.]

[Your reputation in the Astella Region has increased by 300 points. Current reputation: Well- known.]

[Your title 'Astarto's Beacon of Hope' has been enhanced to 'Astarto's Glimmering Hope'.] [Your title 'Astarto's Light' has been enhanced to 'Astarto's Shining Light'.]

[You have obtained the title 'True Tidebane'.]

[You have obtained the title 'Astarto's Eternal Tidebane'.]

Seeing as how he'd shown utter dominance while fighting against the Tidespawn and the Greater Tidemother, the system decided to increase the amount of rewards he'd gained from Alfaera's quest, which turned what was initially a generous quest into a massive landfall of titles.

Skipping over the notifications regarding XP and reputation, Valyr moved the notification screen to the side as he brought up the descriptions of the titles he'd received.

Looking through them one by one, the smile on the young man's face gradually turned into a grin as he inwardly thanked Alfaera for giving him the quest in the first place. Being an enhancement of the two previous titles he'd gained back then, it went without saying that [Astarto's Glimmering Hope] and [Astarto's Shining Light] now showed a significantly greater performance.

To sum things up, [Astarto's Glimmering Hope] was twice as strong as [Astarto's Beacon of Hope was], with the title increasing the discount to 50% whenever he bought things from merchants within the town.

Aside from that, his affinity and reputation gain whenever he did quests within the town had gone from 50% to 100%, which Valyr thought would be amazing if he were to obtain another quest from Alfaera in the future.

As for [Astarto's Shining Light], it basically cranked up all of the benefits of [Astarto's Light] to 11, increasing the damage he dealt to monsters within the town by 30% while also reducing the amount of damage he took from them by the same amount.

Not only that, but as long as he stayed within the town, he would receive a 30% boost to all of his physical stats, while also having all of his stats be boosted by 5%.

Though 5% was a paltry boost compared to the other titles he'd received as of late, that amount was almost triple of what [Astarto's Light] gave him before, which was only 2%.

Once he was done going through the titles that were enhanced thanks to Alfaera's quest, Valyr then shifted his attention to the titles he'd received from the same quest.

"[True Tidebane] and [Astarto's Eternal Tidebane]..." murmured the young man as he read through a brief summary of their effects. "I wonder what effects those titles would've given me if they weren't upgraded by the quest?"

Ding!

[True Tidebane] (Title)

Rarity: Legendary+

Most of the description has been omitted.

As long as you remain standing, you are the bane of all monster tides. No tide can escape your

wrath.

Effects:

> 2% boost to the user's physical stats

> 10% boost to the user's Attack and Defense stat

> 20% boost to the damage dealt by the user to monsters within a monster tide

> 20% reduction to the damage received by the user from monsters within a monster tide

[Astarto's Eternal Tidebane] (Title)

Rarity: Legendary+

Most of the description has been omitted.

With their beliefs beginning to border on fanaticism, the citizens of Astarto are certain that

the Tidebane will protect them from all the monster tides that come their way.

> 2% boost to the user's physical stats

> 15% boost to the user's Attack and Defense stat

> 15% boost to all stats while participating in a monster tide within Astarto Town

> 20% boost to innate health and energy regeneration while participating in a monster tide

within Astarto Town

> 20% boost to the damage dealt by the user to monsters within a monster tide while within

Astarto Town

Though he would probably never find out the effects of the lesser versions of his current titles, the effects of both [True Tidebane] and [Astarto's Eternal Tidebane] caused the young

man to whistle in admiration.

Taking in all of the titles he'd just gained from Alfaera's quest into consideration, Valyr soon came to the wild conclusion that he was at his strongest while defending Astarto from a monster tide, far transcending even the strength he'd shown in the Void World.

After all, as long as he was within town, the effects of both [Astarto's Shining Light] and [Astarto's Eternal Tidebane] would roughly boost his stats by 40% in total.

Add on the fact that three out of the four titles he'd gained from the quest boosted his damage even further, Valyr imagined that the damage he would've dealt to the Greater

Tidemother wouldn't just be over a million.

Perhaps, it would've reached a few million.

"...Well, I guess that's something to think about if I ever have the chance to help the town

defend against another monster tide," said the young man to himself with a chuckle before closing most of the screens he'd brought up with a satisfied smile. Reminding himself to thank Alfaera multiple times once he had finished ascending to Rank 4, Valyr returned his attention to his notification screen, moving onto the notifications he'd

obtained from interacting with the Alltide.

However, before all that, he looked through the notifications involving his spear with a smile.

'Man, am I glad the Alltide removed its curse.'

Ding!

[Using the blood and energy of a Greater Tidemother as catalyst, the Tidemother blood

contained within the weapon has finally harmonized with its awakened potential, being reborn anew to contain far greater strength than it initially did.]

[Due to the newfound power residing within the weapon, the weapon has been reclassified to

a higher rarity. Its rarity is now Epic.]

[Thanks to the increase in rarity, the name of the weapon has changed to 'Sanguine, Wrath of

the Greater Tidemother'.]

[...]

[The Alltide has removed the nefarious energy contained within your weapon.] [Though it has lost a considerable portion of its power from the loss of nefarious energy, the potential the weapon has to reach greater heights has dramatically increased.]

[Due to this change, the soul traces within the weapon have been strengthened, only needing

a small push to become a true soul.] [Thanks to the various changes to the weapon, the name of the weapon has changed to 'Sanguine, Spear Unfettered by the Alltide'.]
