Chapter 47 DOT Damage
After seeing the damage he received, Lei Zhen was grateful that he had reacted in time. Otherwise, it wouldn't be just 75 damage that he'll take, but more than that.
His right arm now had a three-inch claw mark and was bleeding constantly.
Ding!
[You have been hit with Frenzied Wolf's passive skill, Blood Thirsty]
Blood Thirsty is a DOT damage that will continuously decrease the player's health point until the wound is treated.
DOT stands for damage over time and it was the most annoying type of attack one can use because it set a time limit.
"How unlucky… I didn't expect the Frenzied Wolf to have such a passive skill." Lei Zhen cursed, feeling scammed by the forums. The forums never stated that the Frenzied Wolf has a passive skill like that.
At least now he knows why no Magnolia player would share information with the public. Since they were hit with such an element of surprise, then they would want others to suffer the same fate as them.
Alas, Lei Zhen had no time to curse at the forums because the Frenzied Wolf was crazed with the flesh of Lei Zhen.
The Frenzied Wolf's appearance was similar to an Interior Alaskan Wolf, with the difference being that the Frenzied Wolf is at least three times larger than the former.
The frenzied wolf bared its nightmare-inducing fangs at Lei Zhen, trying to intimidate or cripple his confidence.
"Tch, do you think growling is cool?" Lei Zhen sneered. Now that he had successfully lured him out of his hiding spot, it was his turn to counterattack.
It's not about who got the first hit in, but it was about who got the last hit in.
And although the Frenzied Wolf's eyes turned bloody red, it was still clever enough to know not to rush in recklessly. It had gotten his sneak attack at the perfect timing, but Lei Zhen was still able to narrowly avoid its critical strike.
Hence, it didn't dare to look down at Lei Zhen and could only glare at him coldly.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen could only use some Strong Silk that was leftover in his inventory to patch his wound. His experience and knowledge in the medical field came in handy, allowing him to use the Strong Silk to tie around his right arm, preventing his blood from losing rapidly.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ It might be a crude treatment, but it still worked temporarily and his DOT damage was reduced by a large margin. Now he wouldn't be bleeding to death and could focus on the Frenzied Wolf.
"GRRR!" The Frenzied Wolf gnashed his teeth as he was clearly angered by Lei Zhen's action. It was still wary of him and his wariness cost him the chance to attack him when he was weakened.
"Heh, what? Are you angry that your sneak attack didn't do as much as you hoped?" Lei Zhen snickered and teased the Frenzied Wolf.
By doing so, he could falsify his prowess to the Frenzied Wolf into making him think he's some powerful foe.
Who would know that he was just a feathery person and had no real attack skills?
Ding!
[You have taken 10 damage from the effect of Blood Thirsty]
'You don't have to keep posting the same notification over and over again,' Lei Zhen wished he could just toss the system prompt to the side since it was annoying and not helpful at all.
Time slowly passed by, and the Frenzied Wolf had finally determined that Lei Zhen was an easy prey.
Just the fact that it had dealt damage to Lei Zhen, but he did not retaliate back at all and merely tried to heal his injury was enough to tell that he wasn't strong enough.
With a loud roar, the Frenzied Wolf pounced forward, raising its claw to use his attack skill.
As for Lei Zhen, unlike the time he was caught off-guard, he was ready this time and activated his spell.
[Stun] He cast and it landed right at the belly part of the Frenzied Wolf, rendering him immobilized.
"Phew, luckily it was big enough for me to aim. But I still need to try to aim at a certain area next time so that I can improve my accuracy." Lei Zhen breathed a sigh of relief when his skill landed.
However, not even 4 seconds later, the Frenzied Wolf was able to break out of the effect and continued its pounce.
"What the heck?" Lei Zhen was astonished to see the Frenzied Wolf pouncing toward him. Without hesitation, he quickly cast [Stun] again to immobilize the Frenzied Wolf and made sure to take a few steps back.
'How did he break free that quickly?' He pondered over what had gone wrong.
The stun duration was supposed to last 5 seconds, but the Frenzied Wolf was able to move after 3 seconds. That was shorter than what the system had stated.
[Notice: The duration of the stun applies only when you are stronger than the enemy. If the enemy's resistance stats are high, then they could break free from the duration stated.]
"Tsk, you couldn't have told me sooner?" Lei Zhen clicked his tongue when the system's tips appeared and explained things to him.
The game tips can be turned off if you're a veteran player, but for a beginner like him, any new event or situation to him can be explained with Magnolia's tips system.
Now that he had to recalculate the duration of the stun to be 3 seconds, Lei Zhen had to be careful of the Frenzied Wolf.
With the Frenzied Wolf still in the stunning phase, Lei Zhen hurriedly read its description to learn more about his enemy.
[Species: Frenzied Wolves
Level: 16
HP: 432/432
Description: Frenzied Wolves are a lone wolf type and often hunt players that are alone. Intelligent in their ambushing craft and swift in their movement.]
And as expected, the description did not mention anything about its passive skill.
With the description being this brief, it's essentially a lesson for players to not be arrogant in themselves and believe that monsters are easy targets to kill.
"Sigh, I have kicked an iron plate today." Lei Zhen was exhausted and wondered if he was destined to be this unlucky for life.
