MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 34 Tapestry

Lei Zhen knew he might be overthinking and was just wasting time. After all, Arachne is only a level 45 boss monster and Tang Qiaolian is a tier 2 player.

The power difference alone is enough to have Tang Qiaolian outright slay Arachne to complete the dungeon.

However, with the many unexpected circumstances and scenarios that Lei Zhen had when he started Magnolia, his instinct was telling him there was something amiss.

"Then what do you want me to do, Lei Zhen?" Tang Qiaolian said, staring deep into his eyes.

"Do you want us to just sit back here and do nothing while Arachne is weaving in her domain?" She tauntingly added.

Despite saying that, she remained still and allowed Lei Zhen to make a decision. She was here to provide help for him, so it would be unwise to not listen to his opinion.

Not to mention, she knew Lei Zhen was not the type to spout nonsense in front of her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have even bothered to help him out in the first place.

While Tang Qiaolian waited patiently, Lei Zhen was staring at Arachne situated at the bottom pit. Even now, Arachne had not detected their presence and was minding her own business.

ραпdα nᴏνa| сom Arachne was weaving something in the corner and seemed to be enjoying herself.

'Wait a minute… weaving and Arachne's reason for turning into a spider. Could the two of them be related in some sense?' Almost like a thunderbolt had struck his mind, Lei Zhen was enlightened.

Thanks to Tang Qiaolian's sarcasm about not doing anything while Arachne is weaving and his knowledge of Greek mythology, Lei Zhen realized there might be another method to defeat the dungeon.

Just like how there are coincidences in life, Lei Zhen believed that the items they got from the drop must be related to defeating Arachne.

"Qiaolian, remember the Strong Silk and Arachne's Crystal Orb we got? What if we were to weave something from it and show it to Arachne?" Lei Zhen turned his head and asked her.

"Have you gone insane or what?" Tang Qiaolian held a deadpan expression.

"Why would we weave something and show it to Arachne? She's a boss monster for heaven's sake. We're going to be attacked the moment she detects our presence."

"Yes, that would be the correct logic of thinking. Except, this is Magnolia, and you've mentioned it before. Magnolia does not follow the norms of other games. So what if there is actually another method to defeat Arachne without using violence method?"

"This-"

Tang Qiaolian paused herself because what he said was not without reasoning. "Indeed, we can never grasp what Magnolia wants. Otherwise, those game forum news wouldn't be so helpless at providing any information."

It was no surprise that a lot of television news that covers video games, especially the current trending game would be eager to be the first to provide players with firsthand news.

After all, not only would it help their ratings increase, but it would also provide them fame and reputation.

However, to date, there is still no relevant news that the anchors could provide to help Magnolia players. The reason was simple, no one could grasp the concept of Magnolia and its way of structuring the game element.

Hence, Magnolia also had another term that players would often use to describe the game- unpredictable.

"So, do you want to test out my method first?" Lei Zhen smiled and asked.

He knew that he had convinced her already, but it wouldn't hurt to confirm it.

"Ugh, do you still need to ask?" Tang Qiaolian said grumpily.

"I'm just here as a supporter, so do whatever you want." She added, crossing her arms.

Lei Zhen nodded his head.

His method might seem far-fetched and unnecessary at that, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Even if his method came out to be futile and was just his overthinking, Tang Qiaolian could still kill Arachne in the end.

Thus, there was no harm in giving it a try.

"Alright, please bring out all the Strong Silk and Arachne's Crystal Orb from your inventory. It's time to start weaving."

"I don't know if this was your plot all along to snatch the dropped loot back." Tang Qiaolian hissed and retrieved all the materials.

"Hehe, it must have been painful to cough up your loots~"

"Hmph, don't forget the 5 Strong Silk and the 3 Arachne's Crystal Orb from your inventory as well. If I'm going down, then you're going down with me."

"Tsk, so stingy." Lei Zhen clicked his tongue and pulled out his loot.

Afterward, he looked at Tang Qiaolian for a few seconds who had her eyes glaring at him, seemingly telling him that she was watching and not to make any foul play.

Their eyes continued to stare at each other for a good minute before the two started to burst out laughing.

It had been a long time since the two of them got to enjoy some laughs given how Lei Zhen had a lot of things on his mind. Not only did he have to worry about rent and money, but he also had to pray for his sister's well-being.

There was simply no time that allowed him to relax unlike now.

"Sigh, it's good that you are enjoying yourself, Lei Zhen." Tang Qiaolian wiped out some tears of joy as she smiled brightly at him.

"You have been too hard on yourself in the past. It's time to take some time to relax and enjoy."

"Maybe you're right… I guessed this is why Magnolia is popular. It allows one to break free from their shackles."

Sometime later, Tang Qiaolian retrieved a tapestry from her inventory. A tapestry is a type of heavy cloth used for weaving.

Once she placed the tapestry on the ground, Lei Zhen was dumbstruck to see Tang Qiaolian have something like this in her inventory.

"Where did you even get that tapestry from?" He asked confusingly.

After all, they didn't expect to weave anything when coming into the dungeon. Hence, it was a surprise to see Tang Qiaolian having the material for them to weave.

Upon hearing his question, Tang Qiaolian's face turned ashen white.

"Now that you mentioned it, why do I have a tapestry in my inventory? I didn't even plan on having a secondary class in weaving."
