MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 105 Toothless Tiger

Griselda was completely left aghast when she heard Lei Zhen wanting to decline such a simple request.

It wasn't like she wanted his status and did not tell her status to him. It was an equivalent exchange to commence their cooperation in the future.

"Are you still that distrustful of me?" Griselda twitched her mouth and asked.

"I might be a bit petty, and I admit that. But you should know I have a reputation to uphold and I would never renege a promise or words that I have spoken out."

"Then can you promise to keep it a secret and won't tell another person?"

"I can swear upon my life and even my parents' life. However, you must do the same since there is some information that I hid from the public as well."

Lei Zhen nodded his head and said, "Sure, it's a deal then."

Thus, the two of them revealed their status and to his surprise, Griselda was a tier 2 player that is leveled 85, higher than Tang Qiaolian.

In addition, she had a Unique Class as well which was called Enchanting Sorceress, a deviation from the sorcerer class.

"I got this class change during my time in the city of Egroth," Griselda explained.

The city of Egroth in Magnolia was a tier 1 level 70 entry requirement if one wanted to step foot in it.

Hence, Lei Zhen didn't know much about the city but nodded his head.

He wasn't going to act ignorant and ask her what the city was when he could research it on his own time once he returned.

"Anyway, now that you know my class and level, it's your turn," Griselda said, commanding an AI to bring some coffee over for her.

AI was an artificial intelligence robot that had been improved to the point that it could carry out tasks like normal humans.

Of course, the con was that the AI does not have a mind of its own, preventing an incident like a robot rebellion from ever happening.

There had been too many games designed in the past that described robots grouping up together to rebel against humans that manufactured them. Thus, every AI is specifically designed and inspected by the government, making AI to be scarce despite their ability to manufacture many.

"Do you want some coffee too?" Griselda kindly asked once the AI brought it over to her.

"No thanks, I don't want to drink coffee at this time." Lei Zhen shook his head and kindly refused.

At the same time, he began to explain his class and level, causing Griselda to lose her elegant self once again.

She spits out the coffee that she was drinking onto the carpet and coughed several times, patting herself on the chest for some moments to regain her composure.

"Cough, say that again?" Griselda grabbed a napkin to wipe her mouth and stared at Lei Zhen with a dumbfounded look.

"I said, I'm a tier 1 player at level 17, and my class is a Crowd Controller." Lei Zhen repeated his words again.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Her reaction doesn't come as a surprise to him since it was only natural.

How could someone who is so under level have such a high status in Yors Castle?

Not to mention, how did he even gain the trust of Princess Kate with such a status?

If he was in Griselda's shoes, then even he wouldn't believe such a farce.

"Unbelievable…" Griselda seemed to be in a daze as she looked at Lei Zhen like he was some sort of alien.

She had more questions in her mind but decided against it to ask him. She was afraid she might be spitting out more than just coffee alone if she were to hear any more frightening news.

After some time, Griselda finally calmed down and began to discuss the swamp of Lux Forest.

However, right in the middle of the discussion, Lei Zhen curiously asked, "I hear that you are the type to always go solo in Magnolia, unaffiliated with any guilds or teams. So why would you suddenly want to team up with me?"

This question was mentioned explicitly in the interview, causing him to ponder why she would want to team up with another player now.

"It's simple really."

"Simple?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow in confusion.

He was expecting some sort of grand plan or just her personality itself that refused to work with others.

But to his surprise, Griselda smirked and said, "The players in Magnolia are only there for profits and more profits. The guilds are even worse as they collude with each other to maximize their profits. As for the teams, they only wish to utilize my strength or admire my beauty. None of them are actually serious in playing the game itself, such as exploring the vast world and possible hidden storylines."

Hearing that, guilt instantly arose from Lei Zhen as he also wished to play Magnolia for profit.

In other words, she was unconsciously scolding him for his goal in Magnolia.

He lowered his head in embarrassment, but there was no remorse in it.

Unlike her, he needed money to support his sister's medical fees. He can't have this kind of honorable behavior or more like, he can't afford to have them.

Meanwhile, Griselda realized Lei Zhen lowering his head and quickly covered her mouth.

"Um, of course, I did not mean you, Lei Zhen. I already know why you needed money, but at least, you aren't devious or scheming like those people I've mentioned." She hurriedly explained, thinking that he might have misunderstood her wordings.

And hearing that from her, Lei Zhen was sure she had his background already investigated considering her wealth and high-tech gadgets.

Although he was a bit displeased to have his background investigated, he understood it from her standpoint or view.

To work with a stranger, she needed to make sure they weren't some perverted freak or wicked human that committed notorious crimes, so investigating their background was the perfect method to find out.

"Anyway, now that we have some understanding of each other, I suppose we can begin to cooperate well for our mission." Lei Zhen said.

"Of course, we will work well together, you toothless tiger." Griselda nodded her head and teased.
