Chapter 379 CH 366: BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH (1)
Grinning at Natasha, Adam moved from her ears and landed another kiss.
This time it was deeper, and far hungrier, but Adam did not push too far and slowly stepped back.
As for Natasha, her mind was still lingering on the kiss she just received.
All her life, she never really had time for a relationship. Not that she hadn't tried to. But as an Alpha, having a mate was very dangerous as that person could kill you and obtain your power.
Choosing a Mate for Alpha meant believing enough in someone that you can sleep beside them without fear or getting attacked for your power.
As for normal humans, she had simply never been interested. A human could never handle her and she had no wish to destroy the life of a human by making him a wolf.
Adam though… Calling him a normal human would be an understatement.
"So…Does that make us an item, now?"
Finally opening her eyes, Natasha asked. She was not the kind to stay shy and hesitate. If she could argue that the first kiss had been a surprise, she could have easily refused the second one.
"Everything depends on what you wish for and how far you want to go."
"I see… Okay. Then I will consider you as my boyfriend."
She chuckled and this time it was her turn to hug her. The two came close and Natasha looked up at Adam with a mischievous smile,
"If you told me a few months ago that I would be going out with you, I would have been surprised."
Adam rose an eyebrow,
"Was I that repulsive?"
"Adam. You intentionally wore baggy clothes, had your bangs cover your eyes, and added oversized glasses all this to not be too noticed. The fact that we became friends at all, is a surprise."
She was looking at him like he was a moron and Adam could only grimace.
After his break up with Tsubasa, Adam became quite leery of his relationship during his first year. After that, he did call down a little but by then he was already used to his new style and it helped him focus on his study more.
Chuckling he patted Natasha's head and looked up at the sky, his expression a little calmer now and thoughts swirling in his head.
He hadn't confessed just by impulse to know Natasha's secret. Adam was not totally selfless and there was a certain goal. Something he wished to experiment.
What would happen if he took a wolf bite? What about a vampire?
Would he transform? Would he fail? Would he die? Adapt? or become something else?
What if he tried doing the transformation? What if he gave them his blood? Would he strengthen them? Change them?
What if he had sex with Natasha? Would she obtain more power?
So many IF. So many questions and possible answers.
It was worth trying. If anything happened he could simply kill himself and revert back.
"By the way Adam…"
"Hum?"
"Now that we are in a relationship, I think I can ask you this now."
"Go on…"
"You remember, a few days ago we met at the university, right?"
"Yeah."
"So, Why did you have Professor Shuri sent on you? Is she part of this whole strange relationship?"
"Ah…"
'Damn. I forgot about those noses.'
Now then. How should he explain this?
But…This sadly wasn't the end for Adam.
"Also…You are the new Gold Hunter of the Wild Hunt, right? I can still smell blood and death on you right now."
Adam looked down and Natasha looked up.
There was a mischievous but somewhat tense smile on her face.
"A truth for a truth. If you want to know more about me. Then obviously, I have the right to know more about you as well, right?"
Adam had an urge to face palm.
'Why are all the women I am involved with so damn smart?'
He felt like he was surrounded by mini-miss detectives who were waiting to uncover all his secrets.
Still —- Having Natasha as an ally would certainly be quite useful.
"Say. Do you trust me?"
Natasha nodded without hesitation.
"It may be quite naive of me to believe but we already fought together twice and protected each other. There is no way I don't believe you."
There was also the matter of her oath.
"Very well. Then close your eyes and hug me tightly, only open when I tell you."
She frowned a little, bemused about the sudden instructions but she did as she was told. She had no reason to believe that Adam would do anything to hurt her.
Closing her eyes, her senses involuntarily sharpened, but she felt nothing particularly different.
Or rather —
Everything was too silent.
One moment she could still hear the sound of the cars honking in the distance, birds chirping, and kids playing. But now…Now there was nothing. No sound. No sent.
'What the?'
She truly and nearly opened her eyes right here and then.
But she had given her words and if there was one thing she hated more than anything in this world, it was betrayal and not keeping one's own word.
There was nothing more sacred than a promise in her opinion.
The sensation of Total darkness lasted for a few more seconds and finally, Adam's voice filled her ears once again.
"I am glad you kept your word, the surprise would have been spoiled otherwise. Now — Open your eyes."
So she did and what she witnessed was something she would never forget.
"Ah…."
How vast was the world? How open was the sky? This was the question that filled the minds. Those dreams fueled all beings devoid of wings and could only look up at the sky from the ground.
Now though, Natasha was given a first set to observe the world, not from below, but from above the clouds.
"It's gorgeous."
There were no more fitting words that could explain how she felt at this moment.
It was simply gorgeous.
