Marvel: Killing Makes You Stronger

Chapter 206: The Inhumane Ross

Chapter 206: The Inhumane Ross

Ross, as a figure, has too many dark marks on his private conduct.

However, few people would target him because Ross himself holds the rank of Lieutenant General, a high position, and he is a major figure in the military, with a deeply cultivated network of personal connections and interest chains.

Unless Ross touches the cake of other powerful forces, it would cost a lot to bring him down.

S.H.I.E.L.D. does not have this concern at all.

With Nick Fury’s methods, Ross and his network of personal connections and interest chains can be thoroughly investigated. Eliminating them one by one is just a matter of time.

Moreover, S.H.I.E.L.D. currently holds the upper hand with the Avengers Initiative, which is a plan fully authorized by the members of the World Security Council.

If Ross even slightly obstructs it, S.H.I.E.L.D. can openly accuse him.

Ross knows this, so even though he knows he is being used, he remains silent when Fury appears.

Seeing Ross like this, Banner realizes how significant Fury’s Avengers Initiative must be.

Noticing a hint of interest in Banner’s eyes, Fury knows the deal is almost sealed.

So, he adds fuel to the fire: “Dr. Banner, I know someone with your abilities should not be loathed and misunderstood by the public. After joining the Avengers, you will have legitimate authority, and no one can touch you. S.H.I.E.L.D. will also protect the Avengers and help you handle some troubles.

“You only need to defeat enemies in times of crisis. By doing so, you protect the world, the people, and your loved ones, friends, and partners.”

In simple terms, if a crisis arises, no one can escape. Since you always step in for Betty, you might as well join the Avengers. S.H.I.E.L.D. can help you eliminate unnecessary troubles, allowing you to live a peaceful life when there is no danger, making it a win-win situation. Why not join immediately?

Banner is thoroughly moved.

As long as the daily troubles can be solved, it’s just fighting. Even if he doesn’t want to, Hulk will definitely want to fight when the time comes. Joining the Avengers sounds good.

So, Banner immediately nods: “I can join the Avengers, but you must ensure what you said. I believe you don’t want to see me deceived.”

For insurance, he even gave a warning.

The narrow-minded Fury doesn’t mind this but decides to slightly lower Banner’s treatment. He originally wanted to discuss the salary topic but decided to stay silent.

“Of course.”

Fury is quite shady, but who knew Banner would ask casually: “Then, besides these benefits, what is my salary?”

Fury is stunned. This seemingly honest guy is really deceptive, mentioning salary with his big frame.

“One hundred fifty thousand dollars a year, with additional rewards based on mission difficulty, handled by S.H.I.E.L.D.” Fury, thick-skinned, doesn’t hide it. After all, there will be opportunities in the future.

Banner is completely satisfied.

He immediately nods, eager to sign the agreement: “Okay, I’ll join the Avengers. So, how many members are there in the Avengers now?”

“Uh, four.”

“Alright.”

Banner was just asking casually, surprised to find there were already three before him. Then, after saying something to Hulk, his body shrinks back to Bruce Banner.

But now, he is only wearing shorts.

These shorts were given to him by Thor during a battle because Banner’s clothes were always destroyed during transformations. Thor gave him a pair of underpants that are extremely durable, self-stretching, and undestroyable.

Fury signals to Natasha, who approaches Banner and hands him a paper bag.

“Dr. Banner, this is a special Kevlar combat suit developed by S.H.I.E.L.D., highly stretchable, solving some small issues after each battle, and with automatic memory repair function.”

It’s high-tech, making Banner’s eyes light up. He immediately puts it on.

The combat suit is similar to a tight combat suit, can be worn as underwear, fits his body well, and is breathable, not feeling tight.

“Thank you.”

Natasha smiles and accepts his thanks, then hands him a set of keys and a phone: “This is a house prepared by S.H.I.E.L.D. The location is in the phone. This phone allows S.H.I.E.L.D. to contact you. After the Avengers are fully assembled, you will need to meet the members.”

“Thank you.” With a salary and a house, Banner feels the treatment is good, happily accepting it, and feels more favorable towards S.H.I.E.L.D.

Although Nick Fury, the bald black man, doesn’t look like a good person.

Then, angrily looking at Ross, he shows off his keys and phone to his wicked father-in-law.

Look at Nick Fury, then look at yourself.

Are you even human?

If you had been kinder, spoken more gently, and improved the treatment a bit, considering I dated your daughter, wouldn’t I cooperate?

You had to make it so complicated, it’s inhumane.

Ross understands Banner’s message, his face darkens almost matching Fury’s.

He coldly snorts, ignoring the people in front of him, and turns to leave, but not before signaling the soldiers to carry away the severely injured one.

Seeing Ross and his soldiers leave, Fury and Natasha quickly leave as well.

He has no intention of cleaning up this mess. Banner happily walks towards the building, where besides Betty, a group of curious researchers waits.

Seeing Banner approach, the researchers and students back away. He is too fierce, slaughtering American soldiers as if they were foam, smashing armed vehicles, and acting as if nothing happened afterward. He clearly has a strong backing and is not to be provoked.
