Lucifer's Descendant System

Chapter 221: Chaotic Animals

Chapter 221: Chaotic Animals

Inside the Fortress, Noah was classified as a frontline, as the group assumed he would be at the forefront of the team because of that armor he was wearing. If he were a magician, carrying heavy metal armor like that would only be a hindrance inside the Fortress.

Noah did not disagree with this. With the skill set he had, staying at the forefront would be much easier for him to kill more monsters and earn more Exp points: both when it came to the high concentration of damage he could do because of the fire, in addition to the great mobility that he had.

Unfortunately Noah had not been able to recover the knight's sword from the armor because during the battle the sword had deteriorated to a point that it would be useless. But with the skill set he had, a Rank D sword would not be so missed.

The world to which they had been teleported from the Fortress portal was strangely a forest of stones. Noah thought that this might be something like a set of stone ruins, that someone had left those monsters to protect something, but supposedly these stone monsters were natural.

The trees were made of stone; the floor was made of stone; everything they looked at was stone, which gave a strange sensation to anyone who entered.

But even stranger than the place they were in was how the Blessed were acting inside. Unlike previous Fortresses that Noah had already invaded, these people, while apparently not a fixed team, yet were still extremely well-ordered and dedicated. Everyone was paying extreme attention to the environment, looking for something suspicious.

'Are the monsters of a Rank C Fortress that powerful?' Noah wondered mentally as he continued to move forward with the team.

It took no more than 10 minutes for the rogues to find a group of isolated monsters. They were a group of four monsters, all wild boars, who were strangely eating the stones that fell from the trees as if they were fruits...

"Vanguard, attract their attention," the team captain, the man in the blue armor, commanded, which Noah and the other Blessed in the vanguard promptly did.

But unlike what Noah imagined, instead of going together, the rest of Blessed in the vanguard looked like animals that had just been released from their chains and ran desperately forward as if the monsters in front of them were going to escape.

'Perhaps in this Fortress we need to attack very quickly?' Assuming this, Noah, instead of running like the others Blessed to the monsters, teleported between the four monsters, and with his hands open like claws, his fingers started to catch fire, and with a horizontal attack Noah managed to hit all four monsters.

As their skin was stone, Noah's attack was not very effective, but still because the flames from his attack were flames from hell, even though the cut was small, the pain that the stone boars were feeling made the four scream in anger and they started attacking Noah, who quickly teleported behind one of the boars in the opposite direction of his team and started attacking the monster over there.

Meanwhile, the other three warriors in heavy armor looked even more like uncontrollable animals and started shouting at the boars, wanting to attract their attention while attacking with the swords they had. But as any normal person might guess, piercing weapons like swords were practically useless against stone monsters, so none of their attacks were even felt by the boars.

"Idiots... Didn't anyone think of bringing a hammer to this Fortress?" the captain said in a low voice, indignant at the useless choice of weapons of those Blessed.

But as he looked at those four Boars being attracted and shouting very angry at that young boy who had just joined them in the attack of the Fortress, he knew that their attention was controlled and signaled for the remaining Blessed to attack the wild boars as well.

Just as the warriors had acted like animals running towards the monsters, the wizards, archers, and assassins also began to attack as if they were finally able to break free, giving 110% of themselves in their assault.

This was a very strange situation for Noah, who had never seen a team so committed to playing their own role. He could not understand why these people did this, until he remembered how the merit points would be distributed at the end of the Fortress.

'Damn, are they doing this to be able to have a relevant participation and to be able to receive the maximum merit points? Do they not understand that if each one simply plays their part it will be more effective than everyone attacking in a disorderly manner?' Noah thought.

This was exactly the same thought as the captain, who was responsible for defining how many merit points each one of them would receive in this Fortress. Initially he had wanted to show these young people that the only thing they needed to do was to fight as planned and play their own role, but whenever someone started to want to become the protagonist, the others thought they were losing the spotlight and gradually they began to want to be more impactful, to the point that the Fortress had devolved into this chaos that was now.

This was not the only invasion in which the captain had participated that people had acted in this way, but after months of trying to convince these average 30 year olds how to act in a Fortress, the captain just gave up and let them act as they wished. If they died, it would only be their sole and exclusive fault.

But someone had attracted his attention in that Fortress - the new boy who had joined, primarily because of his age.

The captain was already a man over 50 who had reached Rank B a few years ago, so seeing a boy at just 20 years old, according to what he read in the boy's chart, left him quite surprised. After all, the captain had taken 28 years to reach Rank C; the boy was 8 years ahead of him in that respect. 'I hope he doesn't hit a bottleneck because of his speed of growth,' the captain thought to himself.

Another thing that surprised him was how Noah had acted during the initial attack. He had noticed that the other warriors had run towards the monsters in the chaotic way that they always acted, but the boy had acted in the right way, apparently going slowly, thinking that the group would also coordinate with him so that they would go together and the work would be easier.

But as if a switch had been pressed, the boy soon realized how his teammates acted and decided to act the same way, probably without even knowing why he was acting that way.

And as incredible as it may have seemed, that boy had a Space Blessing, which answered a lot about his rapid rise in the rankings, and with that Space Blessing, the boy had managed to get there first and use his flames to attack the stone monsters instead of being like the other idiots and pulling a blade to try to cut through the stone.

'That flame of his looks special; that's a good thing. If our frontline failed to damage the monsters, the wizards would quickly attract the attention of those stone animals and even more chaos would ensue here,' the man thought as he watched the battle from afar.

Because of Noah's teleportation, the captain was delighted to see how Noah alone was managing to handle the attention of the four monsters with relative ease. Not to mention that those claws of fire were doing more damage than many of the spells the wizards were using.

'He's a better warrior than the other three, manages to be more agile than the assassins and does more damage per second than the wizards... This boy, depending on how he acts, maybe I can recommend his name for that project... But before that I will need to know about his past; I cannot risk putting a spy on that project,' the man thought with a hand on his chin, with no apparent intention of participating in the attack against the monsters they were facing at the moment.

Noah, who had no idea that the captain was analyzing him completely, and even considering putting him on some secret project, was now getting angry, but his anger was not directed at the monsters who were trying to kill him but at his teammates. The other warriors who had not gotten the monsters' attention, the way they were acting was infuriating Noah.
