Chapter 72: Sister in law is with Grandfather in law

''Sister in law?'' What the hell was actually going on here? Liyah Myers was so shocked and surprised by their behaviour that she forgot to even close her mouth. The soldiers were lined up in two rows leaving her in the middle.

The soldiers looked at Liyah Myers sizing her up. Their sister in law was even more beautiful than in the pictures. Her look of surprised was akin to that of a cute kitten caught stealing a piece of meat. She looked cute with her flustered face.

Liyah Myers stared at them and snapped back into her senses and spoke to them ''please is there a misunderstanding here, I am not an intruder or your sister in law. I don't want to be mistaken for someone else. Please, I am only here to see Mr. Martins''. Liyah Myers smiled after saying that.

The soldiers looked bewitched by her smile and smiled back without saying a word, making Liyah Myers even more confused. The second in command walked out of the row and bowed slightly before Liyah Myers saying ''sister in law, please don't be afraid of us. We are only here to welcome you''

''Sister in law again? You've been calling me by that title and I don't understand why. How am I your sister in law? I believe this is the first time we are all meeting, right?'' Liyah Myers said still dazed.

''Everybody knows about you, sister in law. No need to be shy. Come with me, I will send you to meet your grandfather in law''. The second in command said excitedly.

He was going to be the one bringing sister in law to meet their captain's father. Old Master Martin will be happy with him and might issue a leave for him soon. He was going to use sister in law to score some browny points from the old Master.

'' Grandfather in law? Wait, why am I your sister in law and why am I meeting my grandfather in law?"' Liyah Myers asked.

''You will know when you see him. Right now, our captain is not in, I will send you to the old Master's villa first. Please come with me'' the second in command said and turned to look at the other soldiers.

''Pleased to meet you, sister in law, please go with us''. the soldiers spoke in unison again and started walking away.

Liyah Myers shook her head and removed her phone from her bag. The second in command walked back and snatched the bag and phone from Liyah Myers with a smile saying ''please, your grandfather in law is waiting''

Liyah Myers looked at the man as he walked away and she had no option but to follow them. Even though she didn't know what was going on, she still wanted to see this to the end. She very sure they had mistaken her for someone else. She only prayed they didn't bring her to a place she wouldn't be able to find Leo Martins.

The mansion in the barracks was made of fired concrete. It was different from most buildings in the city and it looked old, but it was still beautiful. Liyah Myers stood in front of an old man who resembled Leo Martins a lot.

The old Master sized Liyah Myers up without a word when the second in command and rest of the soldiers brought her in. He hasn't met her before but he liked her right away. She looked shy but as a man who has seen much in life, he felt the woman before him was indeed a good person.

His scrutiny made Liyah Myers scared and she felt extremely uncomfortable.

One of the soldiers brought tea from the kitchen and placed it on the table and went away leaving Liyah Myers alone with the old Master.

Old Master Martins looked at the girl standing before him. He had heard a lot about her from the soldiers at the barracks and has also caught his son several times speaking to her on phone. The old Master knew Liyah Myers was scared of him so he laughed and said to her ''are you going to keep standing there like a statue? Is not like you're here for an interview. Aren't you tired?''

Liyah Myers blushed shyly twice after hearing him and skated to the edge of the couch and sat down. Old Master Martins picked one of the tea cups and gave to her adding ''here, drink some tea first''. Liyah Myers took the cup and lifted it to drink some of the tea but the old Master's next words made her spit out the tea in her mouth ''so, you're my granddaughter in law?''

Liyah Myers coughed and looked at the old Master with bulged eyes. She quickly put the tea down and dismissed him with her hand saying ''I'm sorry, sir. No, I don't know what they are talking about. I just came here to meet Leo and everyone started calling me sister in law. I think there must be a misunderstanding here, sir. I am not anybody's sister in law".

Liyah breathed out flustered after speaking. Old master Martins laughed at her saying ''you're a silly one. I like you''

''Sir, I think there is a misunderstanding here. Leo Martins and I are just friends. I think everyone is mistaken. I know my limits and would definitely not aim above my league''. Liyah Myers said nervously.

''How can you be just friends when he spent the night at your place?''. Old Master Martins asked curiously ''he even left our team member's welcome party to come to you at such a time. And you, look at the time? Is already 22:30PM in the night and you drove all the way from Eden Estates to come here?''

''Did you investigate me? How did you know where I stay?'' Liyah Myers asked looking at him suspiciously.

''My grandson is suddenly paying attention to a woman. I see him on the phone speaking to her all the time? Tell me, if you were me, wouldn't you be suspicious and investigate who or what kind of person your grandson was spending time with? You're going to be my granddaughter in law, shouldn't I know about you?''

The old Master's argument made Liyah Myers speechless. How can such ridiculous reasons sound so reasonable to her? Liyah Myers looked at the old man and gave in.

''You win, but, I am not your granddaughter in law. Your son doesn't like me yet; I am the one chasing him''. Liyah Myers said and sipped her tea.

''I like you. You are quite straightforward. But, how could my son allow such a thing to happen? How can he allow a beautiful woman like you to chase him? I will deal with him for you. He should be the one doing the chasing not you''. Old Master Martins said making Liyah Myers to laugh.

"Does it mean you are not against me chasing or being with Leo Martins?" Liyah Myers asked.

"What era are we living in? Why should I be against whoever my grandson decides to date? That is his own business. Don't you think so, Liyah Myers?" the old man asked and laughed.

"I thought that you will be against us since I don't really have a nice public image" Liyah Myers said.

"Rise your chin up and be confident and arrogant. Let's see the one who will dare say a bad word about you. I am not a superficial old man. You don't have to worry about what I think. I judge people based on what my eyes see and not what everyone else says"

Liyah Myers and the old man continued to chat and laugh oblivious to the arrival of Leo Martins. Leo Martins stood at the door listening to their conversation.

He left to Eden Estates after picking Aaron Saint up from the airport. He didn't know that Liyah Myers was still at the hospital so he decided to wait at the villa for her, only to receive a call from his second in command that Liyah Myers was at the barracks with his grandfather.

He drove fast just to come and make sure that Liyah Myers was not feeling uncomfortable but after seeing how she bonded with his grandfather who was considered difficult, the smile on his lips couldn't be hidden. He stared at the beautiful figure chatting with his grandfather and a sense of joy crept into his heart.

Old Master Martins looked at Liyah Myers and said ''when is this rascal coming home? How can he leave you alone here?''

Leo Martins walked in saying to his father ''the rascal is here, Sir''. Leo Martins smiled and looked at Liyah Myers.

Liyah's heart skipped a beat as she looked at and met the gaze of the man she liked.

''Where did you go? Liyah has been here for more than 30 minutes''. Old Master Martins berated Leo.

Leo Martins sat beside his father and spoke ''I went looking for a certain someone only to be told she was at the barracks''
