Life didn't get easier, even in another world

Chapter 282

282 Who is attacking us?

“It’s-”

Kairen opened his mouth to explain, but he didn’t manage to say more than only the first word.

BBBBBOMMMMMM

It was because a loud explosion interrupted him.

It was the sound of something hitting Kairen’s magical shield and at the same time Aaron’s wall that Kairen and his two friends were sitting on. The wall shook intensely and the shield also cracked a little bit.

“Urgh-”

Kairen, who felt a sudden pain throughout his body after his shield was damaged, curled up a little bit, only to be caught by Serria and Reyan and be pulled back so that he wouldn’t fall down from the quivering stone wall.

“What the-”

Serria grabbed her sword, hurriedly standing up to stand in front of Kairen while Reyan did the same time and stood behind him.

.....

BOOOOOOOOMMMMMM

Another explosion happened at the same time just like before, shaking the wall as well as damaging Kairen’s shield.

“Cancel your shield!”

Serria yelled at Kairen whose whole body was trembling while he was curled up.

“B-but-”

“I’ll cast another one! Cancel that goddamned shield!”

She moved her mana while she was still talking. Different symbols shone around her for a second before a huge and thick wall, much stronger than Kairen’s half-assed shield, surrounded the three of them.

Seeing the new shield being cast, Kairen canceled his own shield. Breathing got much easier and his body stopped trembling as soon as he did so. He had difficulty using his mana ever since he had overused his power while fighting, no, rather trying to survive, against that white-haired man.

He didn’t have much chance to try casting spells actually as it had only been a few hours since he had woken up. He only tried it once when he was waiting for the others to locate the Philomns base that they would attack, and that ended up making him throw up blood, and even more painfully get scolded and yelled at by Aaron.

That wasn’t only about casting the spell, only trying to move the mana in his body was painful and burdening.

“Who is attacking us? It’s aura!”

Reyan was looking around in search of the attacker while wrapping his sword in his aura. He looked towards the place where he sensed the source of the aura was and narrowed his eyes, but he couldn’t see much through the dust and from the high up.

SHHHHH

They heard a sound coming from below and all three of them reflexly looked down at the wall they were currently on.

“It’s crumbling!”

Serria shouted as she took one step back and distanced herself from the edge of the wall. The part of the wall she was standing on only one second ago collapsed and fell down.

“We must go down.”

Reyan and Serria looked at each other before both of them turned to Kairen. Kairen, looking at the two of them with a pala and exhausted face, strongly shook his head.

‘How the hell am I supposed to go down with this body? You will kill me in the process even if you want to carry me!’

Just imagining going down with these two by the same method they used to come up made Kairen dizzy.

BOOOOOOMMMMM

There was another explosion, but it didn’t come from the wall but instead somewhere else. They could see a wall of the prison crumbling in the distance.

BOOOOMMM

BOMMMM

BOOOOOOOMM

And that wasn’t all. Multiple explosions happened one by one and with each explosion, a part of the prison or Aaron’s walls crumbled and fell down.

“Someone is randomly sending aura slashes in all directions!”

Serria nodded her head at Reyan’s words. Unlike Kairen, the two of them, who were swordsmen and could sense aura a little bit and also had enhanced sight due to their aura, could feel and see the thing that was going on.

“Ren!”

Just then, Kairen heard a familiar and welcoming voice from behind. What he saw when he turned back was Aaron jumping the walls one by one and coming up towards them. He moved so fast that his hood looked to be about to fall off and the tips of his long light-brown hair were visible through the gap of the hood, though his face was still hidden.

‘It looks fun...’

Kairen suddenly wanted to test jumping up from wall to wall just like his two friends and his brother. He made a mental note that he had to start exercising as soon as he got better for 20932939123’th time since coming to this world.

TAP

With a swift move, Aaron jumped on top of the wall where Kairen and his two friends were standing. The wall shook a little bit as soon as Aaron stepped on it as if it was on the verge of collapsing.

Before the tense Reyan and Serria could react or say anything, Aaron approached Kairen and sat down in front of him. As if it was the most natural thing in the world, Kairen climbed on Aaron’s back. The man then stood up and moved towards the edge of the wall.

SHHHHHH

The soil and small debris that was falling down from the broken part of the wall, the huge broken stones, and also pieces of the nearby collapsed buildings all moved at the same time. They all moved towards the edge of the tallest wall and gathered in one spot only to take the shape of some shady stairs that led to the ground. Aaron then stepped on the steps and started moving down the stairs one by one.

“....”

“....”

The two people, who were not only ignored but also left behind, stared at the scene with wide eyes and dropped jaws.

“What the hell?”

Serria cursed as soon as she saw that the stairs were falling apart after the man stepped on them and hurriedly jumped towards the stone staircase, attempting to go down before it was completely destroyed. Reyan followed suit, running beside Serria and following Aaron from behind.

BOOOOMMMM

At the same time, something behind them collapsed. They didn’t need to look back to know that the wall they were all standing on was the thing that was falling apart.

“Are you fine?”

Reyan and Serria heard the man’s mumbles.

“Mmm.”

Kairen groaned and nodded his head that was on Aaron’s shoulder.

“You have a fever.”

“...I don’t.”

Aaron completely ignored Kairen’s protest.

“I said I’d leave this place if your condition worsens.”

“What? No! I said I’m fine, and I never agreed to that in the first place.”

“There is no need for your agreement.”

“Yes?”

Aaron ignored Kairen again.

“...”

“...”

The two people following behind could only watch them in silence while sending questioning gazes at each other from time to time.

BAAAANGGGG

An aura blade that was aimed at them was easily blocked by Aaron’s soil wall. It didn’t even take a second for the wall to form and block the attack completely. He didn’t glance at the wall or at the attack, nor did he notice how the two people behind him flinched after seeing his soil wall, only walking forward carefully.

‘I thought he wanted to attack us for a moment!’

Serria whispered to Reyan, her face slightly pale.

‘Yeah.’

Reyan nodded his head while warily gazing at the man.

‘How could he sense that aura attack when I didn’t?’

‘I don’t know! I thought he was attacking me only to see that he was forming a wall to block the attack I couldn’t see!’

Serria shook her head.

‘Gah, scary!’

She thought the man was scarier than the people who were attacking them right now. He was scary even before, but now that they knew his ability was not only limited to controlling the soil, they felt he was a way difficult opponent to deal with.

TAP

The man stopped walking. They were now on the surface of the ground. They had arrived yet he didn’t put down Kairen, instead, he turned his head to look in one specific direction. He was looking at one person who was standing not too far away from them.

.....

“Oh?”

The man that Aaron was staring at was holding a sword and looked like a maniac, smiling while blood dripped his chin and wet his clothes.

“What is going on here?”

He seemed genuinely surprised upon seeing Aaron. He stopped swinging his sword and stared back at the four people who had just come down from the tallest wall.

“...Uncle?”

Reyan’s quiet mumble was only heard by the other three people beside him. After staring at his uncle for a second, Reyan shifted his gaze from the blonde middle-aged man, who seemed to be in the process of destroying everything, and looked at the other person who was quietly standing beside his uncle.

“That...”

Reyan, Serria, and Kairen all frowned after seeing the person’s face.

“Team leader Haley?”

Reyan mumbled again, but this time loud enough for everyone, even the previous team leader of unit 6, to hear it clearly.
