Chapter 131: Colony
Following the battle with the Cave Troll, Atlas bathed in the experience and grew addicted to the feeling. He shook his head as the corpse was sucked back into the dungeon while leaving behind twenty silver coins and a glowing red core.
'This will help me become rich,' he mused with a greedy smile.
Atlas grabbed the loot before continuing down the dark and damp tunnel, which gave off a creepy feeling and ended in a massive chamber. It reminded him of a mine where a cart would transport stuff to the surface back on Earth.
'Was this part of the city? But it seems extremely old,' Atlas mused while admiring the seventeenth floor.
He quickly noticed massive stone beams decorated the cavern walls while the Cave Weaver webs covered almost everything. While walking through the darkness, Atlas was suddenly attacked by some Cave Fishers who lunged out of the shadows.
Thanks to his speed, he cut them in half after sidestepping their snapping claws, 'Damn things made me jump,' Atlas thought with a chuckle while blasting a spider with Void Bullets that caused it to drop dead in a storm of blue fire.
He killed every skin-crawling cave lobster that kept trying to ambush him along the path, and the monsters were getting on his nerves; the next foe was the giant dog-sized Cave Weavers that crept along the walls and ceilings, forcing Atlas to use magic to kill them.
After an hour of ambushes, he collected one hundred and three green cores along with Cave Fisher Claws and Cave Weaver poison. Void Sight told him he could see the monster parts to stores or the Adventurers Guild.
Then, he continued down the tunnel and was shocked when he felt himself connecting with his new blade. The Deepforge was perfect for him as it was durable and could eventually connect with him the more he used it.
Atlas continued down the tunnel, examining the new weapon he got, which felt light and comfortable in his hands. Without more monster ambushes, he traveled down the pathway in relative peace.
Twenty minutes later, Atlas encountered a stone bridge spanning a dark chasm that he knew would end in a nightmare ecosystem of insects that would start hunting him. He rolled his eyes, mumbling annoyedly, "Looks like the world is trying to throw me down there again, but it won't work this time."
Atlas continued walking until his foot touched the cold stone of the bridge. When nothing occurred, he started to cross and sighed in relief as he reached the other side. After reaching the other side and surveying the cavern, he spotted hundreds of large holes scattered across the ground.
'More insects? Ants maybe? But they were on the previous floors so it wouldn't make sense.'
Curious about what creatures might emerge from them, Atlas realized he needed to be prepared for the impending fight. He activated Call of the Void and summoned a Void Raptor Warrior to ride across this place.
When the dinosaur appeared, it nuzzled its head into Atlas's chest, which made him smile, ''Hello, boy. Sorry I haven't called on you, but I've unlocked a new power that gave me more monsters.''
The Raptor Warrior let out a chirp of excitement as Atlas mounted its back. He commanded the creature to navigate the dungeon cavern, and with an eager chirp in response, the Void Raptor Warrior surged forward across the nightmarish landscape.
Atlas watched the landscape pass by as the raptor dashed across the last part of the seventeenth floor. As they closed into the staircase, a giant insect lunged at him from one of the holes.
He was suddenly flung into one of the holes when it struck him off the back of the Void Raptor. Panicked, Atlas drew his swords as he plummeted and drove them into the side of the chasm.
The blades caught and slowed his descent until he reached a smaller tunnel, but he guessed this was the eighteenth floor as the mana changed. 'What is this place? And what was the monster that attacked me?'
Atlas was in another dark and damp tunnel, but this time, instead of stone, it was some white material that was rock hard. He knew this stuff was organic because of the mana radiating off it, which was separate from the dungeon.
While glancing around, he heard a chirp come from above him. Atlas glanced up only to see the Raptor Warrior was using its claws to slide down until it reached the bottom. The void monster's actions made him smile before he stroked the dinosaur, which made the creature happy.
'Are those monsters growing closer to me? They seem more than weapons to use,' Atlas mused with a smile. Discover hidden content at m,v l'e-NovelBin.net
The two of them then traveled down one of the tunnels until the sound of thousands of insects reached his ears, forcing Atlas to stop. Hearing that, he summoned the six Void Raptors from Group Two of the level one of the Void Realm.
When the dinosaurs appeared, he spoke, ''You seven cover my rear; chirp if they break through.''
Several happy chirps reached his ears as he thought with a gulp, 'I can always use Group Three with the Raptor King, he should be useful here.'
After that thought, Atlas readied his weapons and magic as the sound got closer. Seconds later, the first monster crawled around the corner, shocking him, but he shook his head and scanned it using Void Sight.
[Dark Termite Warrior]
[Rank: C - 500 Exp]
[Weak to explosive magic, but the monsters are also intelligent]
"This is going to be a tough fight," he muttered, registering the creature's increased strength due to the volatile mana in the area.
His grip tightened around his sword as he observed them. The creatures were as large as lions, with massive heads and fierce mandibles that snapped menacingly in his direction, sending shivers down his spine.
Their beady eyes locked onto him with deadly intent. Atlas quickly noted that their bodies were covered in a thick carapace, offering perfect protection against most attacks. One of the dark termites reared back and emitted a harsh screech before charging at him.
'This is a Dark Termite colony!'
Atlas cast Void Step to evade the initial strike. Reappearing to the creature's left, he sliced through one of its limbs, causing the monster to retaliate by charging at him with its massive head.
As the new monsters targeted him with a furious assault, Atlas rolled out of the way and immediately unleashed Void Barrage. The azure projectiles washed over the monsters behind, injuring most and killing some.
He started attacking the first Dark Termite and killed it before fighting the others, which took a few hours. During this time, three of the Void Raptors fell, but they pushed the monsters back with teeth and claws.
Atlas leaped back, narrowly avoiding the snap of a termite's mandibles. He quickly cast Void Bomb, hurling it down the tunnel. The bomb exploded with a deafening blast, obliterating the swarm of monsters and sending the survivor creatures to retreat deeper into their nest.
He collected forty red cores and twenty pairs of termite mandibles the dungeon left behind. Afterward, Atlas soon realized one of the tunnels had collapsed thanks to the Void Bomb, which caused him to walk down the one the Void Raptors were guarding.
When he arrived at the tunnel entrance, Atlas noticed four dinosaurs remaining, which was better than nothing. He continued down the Dark Termite Colony paths and killed many more termite warriors that fell to his swords.
An hour later, Atlas and the Void Raptors appeared in a large chamber where they met a swarm of monsters before them. He glanced around and noticed hundreds of termite warriors and workers waiting to attack.
Atlas beamed when seeing this activated Call of The Void Skill and summoned level one's group three. As the portal opened, a dread-filled aura emanated from it as the Void Raptor King appeared.
'It's about time you summoned me master,' the king said in his mind. 'It looks like we will be having a entertaining fight.'
He nodded, preparing his blades and magic as the six Void Raptor Warriors fanned out, poised for his command. Atlas aimed the Nightblade at the largest Dark Termite, which he presumed was the queen.
With a swift gesture, Atlas cast Void Bomb. The projectile streaked across the chamber but was intercepted by a termite warrior. An explosion obliterated the creature and incinerated dozens of its kin, leaving nothing but ash in its wake.
The Dark Termite swarm charged just before the Raptor King emitted an earth-shaking roar and charged forward. The Void Raptors clashed with the dungeon insect in a vicious monster battle.
Atlas rushed into the room and started putting down dozens of the termites by thrusting his swords into their brains before firing them with Void Blast. Once one creature dropped, another two took its place.
He felt the never-ending experience pouring into his body, causing him to hear several clicks while leveling up. Atlas used every attack spell and blew away even more Dark Termites before coming face to face with the queen after putting down the last warrior.
