Chapter 46 Training For The Mission

46  Training For The Mission

"With only two days left, and the mission getting slightly tougher, I want you to spend the majority of it learning to control your cybernetic powers and knowing how to defend yourself if you ever come under attack from an Eldritch creature," Captain Aelia said to him as Hael finished up the dish present.

"Then let's get a move on right now," he said as he jumped down from the platform and landed on the ground without his feet shaking at all.

"My strength really has increased a lot," he mused to himself as he felt another shaking beside him, being Captain Aelia landing next to him. She climbed up the stairs with him just right beside her.

"In a battle between Eldritches, bare-hand fighting is useless. The Eldritch creatures are very good at close combat, and with their clawed hands and fangs, fighting them with bare hands will be asking for death. The best thing is to use a weapon."

"Okay."

"As you already know, of the three classes of cybernetic fighters, the Gunslingers' main weapons are their guns, while they might sometimes use knives and daggers as part of their collection. The Tanks use two weapons, namely the battle hammer and the axe or halberd, which enable them to maximize their striking power. As for a Warrior, being a combination of both, they all use ancient weapons like swords, scythes, and nunchaku. While some warriors still use guns in their battles, mainly handguns or small pistols," she said before turning to Hael.

"You have fused with the Void Breaker, a Warrior class Cybertech, so you will be choosing a weapon accordingly. So tell me, Hael, what weapon do you consider yourself to be very familiar with?" she asked as Hael thought about it.

"I am familiar with two, a chained dagger and a sword," Hael replied. Being a prince, it was necessary for every royal member of the Winterfall dynasty to be at least above average in the comprehension of swords. Being a prince, that rule was only more emphasized on him. As for the Kurigasama, it was his favorite weapon, something he had been taught to wield by his brother, Hadeon.

"The sword is a good weapon for the cybernetic fighters. Now we'll begin the learning process, starting with you practicing with a true Eldritch," she said as she tapped on her tablet. Behind Hael, a familiar metallic pod exited the ground, just like he remembered it.

"The Virtual Reality pod simulates to a 95% success rate of real life. The only thing it does not replicate is death, and it does not transmit injuries and occurrences in the virtual realm to the real-life body. Apart from that, everything else is complete," Captain Aelia said, but Hael had not even a figment of an idea.

"What is meant by the virtual world? Isn't there just the real world?"

"Perhaps, you will better understand if you witness the exercise for yourself," she said to him as the pod opened up, and Hael looked into the space which reached up to a length of 2 meters and a width of a meter.

"Hmm," he couldn't help but murmur a little, before he jumped into the pod, lying down straight in it.

"Closing pod. Initiating Virtual Reality Transmission," the AI voice rang throughout the room as Hael felt wires snake out from the sides of the pod, and with an acute pain, they clung to his body, the majority of them entering into his scalp.

{Scanning bodily attributes and core power.}

{Bodily scan done.}

{Transmission begins in 3...2...1.}

The countdown echoed in Hael's ears as he felt his eyelids suddenly become a thousand times heavier and he rapidly disappeared into unconsciousness.

Opening his eyes, he found himself in a completely white hall.

"Welcome to the Orcano Transportation space, Hael," the voice resounded behind him as Hael turned, only to once again see the figure of Captain Aelia.

"Captain Aelia?"

"Do not mistake me for a real-life entity, Hael. I am nothing more than a welcoming AI, built and written by Aelia. My job is to direct you through the Virtual Reality space," she said but suddenly stopped as her figure glitched before once more settling.

"I have been sent an order to transport you into a world where you are to fight a single Eldritch creature at the Lower Zagreed realm."

"Please choose one of these swords as your weapon," the AI said to him as a holographic photo appeared in front of him, depicting a total of three swords. The first was a heavy sword, around half his size. The second was a Naginata sword, more of a long stick with a large blade at its top. The third weapon was a sheathed katana around the length of his hands.

In the next instant, his hand moved forward as he grabbed hold of the katana among the three.

"Transportation begins in 5...4...3...2...1...Now."

And once more he disappeared from where he stood and appeared in a different place. It was a cave, a pretty large one, with a dried floor and abyssally dark walls, the only light source being the light from the hole in the cave's roofing and from light crystals hung around the walls.

"Just like that place in sector X," Hael thought in his head, remembering the cave to be like the place where he had undergone the mission.

{Your opponent will now be transported,} the AI voice rang out throughout the room as dark light bloomed in the distance.

In the next instant, a green flash of light erupted, and a new figure appeared in the room.

 The figure of an Eldritch standing on its two wolf-like legs. Its face was elongated like that of a wolf, its sharp jagged teeth glinting with a cold light, while its large hands with steel-like claws were by its side.

Spittle drained down its jagged skin as it stared hungrily at Hael, growling menacingly.

"Fight begins in 3...2...1. Go." n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
