Infinite Potential System

Chapter 432 A Bet, Scheming

"Forget about you? What do you mean? Just because you can't keep up with my Cultivation doesn't mean that you're a burden. Besides, I never expected anything like that in the first place." William tried to console Charlotte.

"It's not just that... I've only seen you a few times since you started your Quest, and now you'll be Ascending. I might not be able to see you for a long time, so I don't want you to wait for me..."

William shook his head, "I don't mind waiting."

"You say that now, but what if a beautiful Goddess tries to seduce you? You never know!"

William laughed, "I have Charm Resistance, that won't happen. Though I'm impressed you think so highly of me, you're the only Goddess that's seduced me so far."

Charlotte blushed a little at William's words, though she didn't fully understand the first bit. How could someone be resistant to beauty?

Her expression returned to her usual energetic self, "Let's bet on it then. If someone in the Ascended Realms manages to catch your heart, I win, and you have to treat them better than you did me.

You will take them out on loads of amazing dates and cook them tasty food, and you'll never leave them to wonder how you're doing for months at a time."

"And what if I win? What are the conditions?" William asked.

"If you don't find anyone new by the time I Ascend, then we'll be engaged. And you still have to do all those things I said." Charlotte winked.

"Haha, sounds like an unfair deal but okay." William reached out his hand and acted like he was going to shake Charlottes. She grabbed his hand firmly in hers, then pulled his arm towards her to make him lean forward.

Since William had such a strong body, Charlotte wouldn't normally be able to do this, but he let it happen. He leaned forward and gave Charlotte a kiss that seemed almost made to relieve his stress.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

It started it very slow and relaxed, gently tapping at his upper and lower lip, but eventually the kiss became fierce and solid. By the end of it, William's lips felt tingly, as if Charlotte owned a special vacuum built just for him.

"Well?" she asked with a light smile.

"It's a deal." William returned her expression with a beaming smile of his own.

"You mean to tell us that a Mortal Cultivator known as William has become strong enough to for us to label him as a future threat?" A small group of golden-shrouded individuals looked at Juhi with a mixture of ridicule and disgust.

Their faces were covered in thick cloaks, concealing everything about them except their voice, but Juhi still bowed very deeply to express his servitude. There was no need to verify their identities.

Juhi nodded seriously, "The boy has mastered many powerful skills that even I am not entirely aware of. I believe he could cause you all some trouble if he Ascended."

"Hah! This was a waste of time I can see. No Mortal Cultivator has been able to challenge us for a long time. I think you're full of shit!" one of the figures laughed at Juhi, his smile curving up widely in an almost monstrous manner.

Another spoke up, "Have you underestimated us? We are the Heavens, not just some wandering trader you'll meet on the street. Just because you don't know someone's ability doesn't mean ours is no match!"

A third opened their mouth to speak, ready to issue a final sentence and kick Juhi out of the meeting room, but then a thought came to them. Their voice lowered as they asked, "Which World is this again?"

Juhi answered swiftly, "Efretta, sir."

"Efretta..." the one that asked and the others echoed the word in an almost nostalgic manner. "An interesting World to be spawning talented youths. Is she escaping?"

A fourth figure that had yet to speak finally said a word, "No, my World is fine. The seals have weakened slightly, but that's it."

If William were here, he might have recognized the voice as Cerulea, or Golden Girl. Juhi didn't see it, but her lips formed a slight pout when Efretta was mentioned, cursing her back luck for already being reported on so soon.

I can't let father find out about this. she thought to herself as she proceeded to explain a fabricated version of the state of her World.

There was a mention of William, but his feats were toned down so much that he didn't seem like much more than slightly more talented than the average Cultivator. It was enough to raise some eyebrows, but not nearly enough to draw their full attention.

For beings like the Heavens that could easily live millennia, Cerulea's description wasn't even enough to make them want to treat William's life as a soap opera. They preferred to focus on their own Worlds, if they had one.

When it came time to explain why the World Cores were being absorbed and the seal weakening, she described it as a little experiment to see if she could benefit from Efretta's hard work, which was partially true.

"Is that all, Miss Cer-"

"That's it." Cerulea snapped before one of her counterparts could make a mistake and expose her name. It wasn't an issue for the Heavens, but very unprofessional. If Juhi were to call her Cerulea in the future, she might just puke.

The group nodded and decided to put the matter to rest, ending the matter immediately. Juhi was forced to go back in shame, having been identified as the equivalent of a false alarm.

It was disappointing, to say the least, but Juhi had no intentions of fighting with the Heavens. He didn't truly know how strong they were since he was just a lowly Ascension Realm Cultivator in the fourth stage, and William was a mortal.

Compared to the Heavens that were multiple Cultivation Realms above the general population of the Ascended Realms, Juhi guessed that William really wasn't much.

"Cultivator, please wait a moment." Cerulea called out as a tiny golden light floated over to him from afar.

Juhi was confused, but he understood the moment that the golden light landed in his hands. It was a pile of almost two hundred Spirit Jades, enough to allow Juhi to either buy a nice weapon from a local blacksmith or Cultivate in seclusion in a big city for a few dozen years.

He bowed deeply and thanked Cerulea for her time, pleasantly satisfied with the gift. The other Heavens members looked at Cerulea blankly though, as if they didn't understand her intention.

"If it concerns my World, any information is valuable. It's good to see the others caring so deeply about my territory." Cerulea explained with a wave of her hand. As her hand waved to the others, her shrouded figure slowly dissipated to nothingness, having likely returned to her room.

When Juhi left, a few other figures frowned and spat, "Damn that Cerulea! She thinks she can do anything she wants just because her father is a big shot. It's obvious that something is happening in her World, but without the Mortal Threat notification, no one is supposed to get involved."

Someone else shrugged, "Why does it matter to you? It's just a World, and it's hers anyway. If something bad happens, it'll naturally be on her and not us."

A third smiled, "You know, if miss Cerulea messes up big time, I wonder if her father will give her inheritance to someone else..."

The thoughts of a godly inheritance from a man as great as Cerulea's father made all of the Heavens members that remained drool slightly, their composure a complete difference compared to how they acted around Juhi.

As they continued to scheme behind Cerulea's backs, the woman in mention watched all the events unfold on a small crystalline orb with a smile.

Those idiots. If they know I have a World of my own and they're even aware of who my father is, how dare they try to talk poorly about me behind my back? Cerulea twisted her finger and saved a recording of their conversation.

Showing this to someone now wouldn't help her at all, but perhaps this little piece of information would be very useful at a later date. She smiled as she thought the reverse of what the other Heavens members did.

If they can plot and scheme about taking my inheritance, I guess I can scheme about taking everything they have! All I need is for that William to show me a little more and I think I can do it!

A booming voice resounded in Cerulea's bedroom while she thought, "My sweet little silly bear! I heard you had a meeting about a Mortal Threat, did everything go well?"

"Ugh, dad. I told you not to call me that. I'm already four hundred and fifty million years old, can't you call me something normal like daughter, miss, or even just my name?" Cerulea crossed her arms in front of her chest as she groaned.

"But pookie-doo!"

"No! That's even worse!"
