Chapter 64: Sacrifice
Chapter 64: Sacrifice
The platform drifted to the end.
By the time it did, Michu and Sandra were already all covered with coldness. Their hugging position was frozen and their hairs turned into icicles. Michu's snot was also... kinda hanging.
Yakuzan had been faring well, though! His body was covered in ice too, but the same went for Venomous who stood at the helm all this time.
Thus, it was just given to all of them to end it in such a state.
However, ice around Venomous' body shook and shattered into a thousand pieces after the platform had stopped. She also didn't need to stretch as her feet were first to step on the new land.
"Uhu." Yakuzan yanked Michu out of the coldness, slapped the frozen snot away, then helped the monke take the first step onto the new land too.
In a few minutes, everyone was on their legs. Moving around the new land, Michu commented, "It's like a new world!" The ceiling couldn't be spotted.
There were also a lot of 'icebergs' scattered around them. On this blue land, players were left with more questions than answers. For many, it was an absurd thing as the game system should long ago give them directions.
Michu's party didn't lack such people to complain, "I think I will join Realism Haters on the forum soon." Sandra half-joked, but it leaned more toward the serious side. She hated that after so many days and hard work in the snowy land, their party was forced to go through another mystery.
What should they do now? Wait for players?
"Quiet..." Venomous abruptly raised her hand and gestured others to stop. Her eyes hovered on the party who wore the same expression, distorted in exhaustion and hatred. Clearly, all of them were fed up with this quest too.
The question was... for how many months had they been logging in to this place? Just imagining such gameplay brought displeasure to Sandra's heart! The witch whispered to Venomous, "We can't possibly ask them, can we?"
"Even if they were in a different mood, I wouldn't go for it." Venomous replied, "It doesn't look like they are aimlessly wandering here, so it's best to follow them. Monkey Scum." The green eyes flew to the monkey baby.
The Monkey God clicked his tongue, then climbed up onto Michu's head, "I will keep an eye on them." The Monkey God's will had strong senses, his eyes were built with binocs.
Due to KongFu, the party could keep a safe distance from those players while keeping an eye on their surroundings. The Monkey God's hands used Michu's hair to control his movement while his old eyes glued to the party.
After an hour of walking, one of the followed dudes shouted, "I am done with this shit! It's sacrifice! Who?! Who is going to sacrifice?!"
"You! You're the one who will sacrifice! For fuck sake! I told everyone to keep quiet about it! Why do you have to bring it up!?" The party leader howled in response.
Indeed.
The sacrifice was the last trail here. To go to the next and the last stage which was The Ice Tomb's Vault, the players had to sacrifice someone! Not everyone could be sacrificed, so players looked out for other visitors!
But those, who had reached so far here, were overly cautious. If there was even a hint of loss, they would turn heels and run as far as possible. This last trial had thwarted so many plans and destroyed so many friendships and even relationships that if the real world were to hear about it, no one would believe it.
"Why me? I can become a sacrifice, but it means that I have gotten the right to enter the vault! What if me... being the worthy one is actually the key to get an item out of it?! Don't tell me you haven't thought about it?!" The fed-up player replied with a theory that most players assumed here.
It was also self-defense to protect their conscience.
All players entering this Impossible Quest in groups were close friends. That was why it was often hard for them to pull out first and sacrifice others. Such self-defenses allowed them to actually go for it and change their futures a little.
However, the valid point was that below 1% of the whole player base had completed this quest. This made this theory more credible and the leader's lips closed tightly.
In a stupor, all players turned silent. The same went for the onlookers that were Michu's party... While the former racked their brains to overcome this last hurdle, the latter wondered about the whole sacrifice.
Who was the worthy one? What were the requirements?
BOOM!
Amidst all those thoughts, an explosion swept through the ice world. For Michu, it was the explosion he was familiar with.
For the rest, they felt like they found a clue... or even hope!
They all kicked the ground and rushed toward it, "Fast! This kind of explosion means that someone has gone mad! We might find the statue!" The leader of the follower party shouted, all agreeing with him.
Even Venomous agreed and smiled, "No need to be so careful anymore, but it's still best for us to stay hidden... Michu?!"
The monkey was familiar with the explosion, so he rushed as fast as possible! If Feng needed help, then Michu would deliver it! After all, he did in this Ice Tomb, Michu wanted to share some goodwill with others.
His friend was such a person.
These two parties weren't the only ones notified by this explosion.
In less than ten minutes, Feng and his woman were surrounded by at least six parties!
Feng... wasn't in a good state.
He had half of his torso blown away by his own red crystal!
The one who used it was his woman!
"I didn't expect a gold-digger to have a brain. You loved these so badly that I thought you used all of them on monsters." Feng said while blood trickled down his chin! "I guess you need some cells to suck others dry! Haha!"
He was chosen as a sacrifice by his woman! From the way it looked, it was thoroughly unexpected!
