“Sigh… Xiao Hong won again.” Luo Ziping sighed in resignation.

That’s right, Xiao Hong had indeed won.

Regardless of which camp it was.

Whichever camp Xiao Hong belonged to, that camp was pretty much guaranteed victory.

Even if she was killed in the first round by a werewolf, she was still able to state a strong rebuttal based on evidence and the cases she stated had frighteningly high accuracy.

Bai Ling rubbed her brows in frustration, she now understood that the game formation was not important for balance.

The biggest bug in the game… was actually Xiao Hong! [1. A bug is slang for a glitch or a loophole in a game.]

“Big Sister Bai, you’re actually a human yourself, right?”

Xiao Hong suddenly asked with a smug expression.

Bai Ling was slightly taken aback as a hint of a smile appeared on her face. “Why do you think that?”

“I can detect emotion and sense the presence of a soul from you.” Xiao Hong’s alluring eyes implored Bai Ling.

An Lin and the others were all dazed upon hearing this.

Holy f*ck, she can sense souls?

Was Xiao Hong always this awesome!?

Bai Ling chucked lightly but did not reply, instead casting her gaze on the white ball at the other side of the bridge. “The energy in the Divine Energy Ball is about to run out, you’ll have a five-second window, don’t miss it.”

Everyone became dazed once again.

What was going on here, did this count as an assist?

Since when was Bai Ling so kind-hearted, this wasn’t another trap, was it?

Bai Ling did not continue after seeing everyone’s shocked and suspicious expressions, instead slowly dissipating on the spot.

Should they believe her?

To be honest, they would all try to charge through to the other side anyway when the white ball ceased fire.

There really was no point for Bai Ling’s reminder…

“You guys wait here, I’ll try and charge through first.” An Lin said.

“Let’s all go together, there’s only this one opportunity. In any case, if it works, good, if not, then that’s ok too.” Miao Tian waved her hand, clearly planning to cross the bridge together with An Lin.

Just as Miao Tian had said, they only had this one opportunity. They couldn’t just let An Lin take the risk alone, hence all of them got up to stand behind him.

An Lin was quite touched by everyone’s decision and didn’t try to dissuade them.

Suddenly, the white ball ceased its fire, even its hue seemed to dull a little.

Wind Spirit!

Rings of wind appeared underfoot as An Lin’s speed drastically increased, instantly propelling him toward the white ball!

Although Bai Ling had told them that they had five seconds, An Lin still exerted himself to the very max in order to conserve time, crossing over the distance of one hundred meters in less than two seconds.

He slapped both hands onto the white ball and vital energy began to flow forth in a frenzy!

Everyone else had also crossed the wooden bridge at this time and they all came to stand beside An Lin, staring at the white ball cautiously, in fear that it would suddenly start emitting beams of destructive white light again.

A mechanical voice sounded throughout the venue. “Trial of Destruction completed!”

Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief upon hearing this. They had finally passed this dreadful trial.

A rush of dizziness befell them and they appeared in the pure white space once again.

Bai Ling’s figure appeared again, a slight smile on her face.

“Congratulations on passing the Trial of Destruction, you will now receive the bloodline inheritance of the research institute. As for exactly what inheritance you will receive, I will decide that for you based on what would be most suitable.”

She laid her slim white hand onto the black ball as rays of light once again enveloped everyone.

“Wind Weasel, Silver Rabbit, Sword Dragon, Demonic Ape.” Bai Ling ran through the list whilst looking at everyone.

Immediately after this, she cast her gaze on Xiao Chou, her face lit with excitement. “Dark God.”

Then, she looked toward An Lin’s pocket. “Mirror Combination.”

Lastly, her gaze fell upon An Lin and her brows began to furrow, growing more and more confused, as if she was being faced with an extremely difficult choice.

An Lin: “…”

Bai Ling stroked her chin in deep thought, before gritting her teeth. “What inheritance would you like?”

An Lin was slightly taken aback as he pointed to himself. “I get to choose?”

Bai Ling stared at An Lin with a complex expression, letting out a sigh. “I can’t decipher you. So… you get to choose for yourself!”

An Lin: “… Can I refuse the inheritance?”

Bai Ling chuckled lightly. “Of course not! What, are you a bit unsure of the research institute’s bloodline inheritance?

“You have to be aware that the inheritance you are about to receive is the highest grade inheritance produced from the Purple Star Civilization’s bloodline research. An average person has no right to even come into contact with an inheritance of such prestige.”

She touched a fingertip to An Lin’s forehead as she explained.

A series of options instantly appeared in An Lin’s mind, even showing some basic information enclosed on the characteristics of each of the different bloodlines.

He looked at all these potential inheritances, unsure of which one to choose. His mindset was to either choose one that was extremely powerful, or just not choose one at all.

As this notion appeared in his mind, a ‘Dao Inheritance’ interface suddenly appeared.

“Divine punishment is about to be upon us, nothing can escape destruction…”

A series of information began to flow into his mind. This wasn’t a bloodline inheritance… but instead, an unlimited flow of information, carving itself into An Lin’s mind!

Crack…

The black ball began to crack with an audible sound…

A panicked expression appeared for the first time on Bai Ling’s face as she hurriedly moved her finger away, before staring at An Lin with incredulity.

Miao Tian and the others had already received their respective inheritance by this time and they all began to open their eyes.

Upon seeing Bai Ling’s expression as well as the state of the black ball, everyone was quite shocked.

Only An Lin was scratching his head with an innocent expression. “I still haven’t finished receiving the inheritance yet, why did you stop?”

Bai Ling winced with indignation, she felt as if there was a large stone sitting on her chest, making her extremely upset.

“You… who the hell are you!?”

She stared at An Lin, even her voice was shaking slightly.

“I am An Lin, originally from Earth, currently a student of the Heavenly Court.

“Say, are you going to give me the full inheritance or not, what’s this business with only giving half of an inheritance? Don’t you know that it makes people upset if you only do things in halves?” An Lin complained in dissatisfaction.

Bai Ling’s face began to turn red and her body shook with rage.

Upset? I’m the upset one, ok!?

Half of the information in the mastermind was just inexplicably stolen by you and now you’re just wearing an innocent expression like you didn’t do anything!

“There’s none left, get lost!”

She waved her hand and yet another fit of dizziness befell everyone as they reappeared on the wooden bridge.

An Lin: “Such a terrible waste, what did the centipede say in the end?”

Everyone: “…”

They didn’t know what had happened, but they still derived pleasure from how enraged Bai Ling had become at An Lin’s hands!

A brand new gate appeared in front of everyone.

An Lin and the others walked through it.

Passing through the gate, they came to a cavernous hall, within which were tables, chairs and all sorts of strange mechanical creations floating in the air.

This was a very familiar scene, because this was the hall they’d first appeared in after coming into the ruins!

“So… we’ve come back just like that?” Miao Tian could barely believe her eyes.

It was instead Sun Shenglian who seemed to recall something as she chuckled lightly whilst covering her face with her hand. “That should be all thanks to our team leader.”

Everyone was a little taken aback after hearing this, but they then all smiled knowingly upon recollection of Bai Ling’s enraged expression.

Was this the legendary ‘door-slam’?

They could only say, Big Brother An… well done!

An Lin did not respond to everyone’s approval and gratitude, instead looking toward the five mechanical objects in the air with a peculiar expression.

“These are mechanical creations of the biological bloodline research center, their cores are constructed of the fused cores of a hundred beasts, thereby allowing for perfect synergy between technology and the power of bloodlines. However, it is currently inaccessible due to the spatial barrier…

“In order to open the barrier, one would only need to…”

He condensed some vital energy on his fingertips before drawing a complex veined pattern formation on the barrier encapsulating the Gundams.

Following this, the patterned formation began to glow with a bright light, acting as a key and ripping the barrier apart.

An Lin stowed the Gundam away without hesitation.

After that, he came to another Gundam, repeating the same motions.

Bai Ling was busy repairing the black ball and almost coughed up blood in rage upon detecting what An Lin was doing.

“An Lin… you’ve gone too far!!!”

She yelled in rage before swiping a slim hand through the air.

The gate linking the hall and the outside world suddenly opened, sweeping everyone out with an invisible force. An Lin had just finished stowing away the second Gundam and now found himself back outside of the ruins along with his team members, saving them the trouble of having to blow into the horn to summon the horned dragon…
