Chapter 43: The cat ancestors' fighting styles
Chapter 43: The cat ancestors' fighting styles
The fighting style of the cat ancestors was pretty straightforward, using the surrounding hex energy by using a certain breathing technique you could enhance your body and fighting techniques by more than 300% at a time, you could also heavily increase your own Hex bloodline abilities by the same amount.
However, due to this sudden increase in power, there could be a huge backlash on the user, this type of backlash would be remediated through the strengthening of the body and the cat ancestors had way sturdier bodies compared to the bodies of the current cats so they could use these techniques without having to train themselves properly. Body-wise they weren't any different from the current lion tribe and Felix was slowly getting closer to their body's potential due to his ability and his new breathing strengthening techniques.
The ancient cat tribesmen created these techniques to make for their weaknesses and improve their strengths, thus the Combat Breathing Techniques appeared among their population, they were the only race on the Tarot Continent which created combat techniques based on the breathing training techniques, that didn't mean they were unique, just talented.
Catro's lieutenant could feel something was up the moment Felix took in a big breath, after he tried out the stealth enhancing and combat enhancing technique, it was time for him to use the ultimate techniques of the cat tribe, it was their strongest killing technique and one of the most taxing on the body.
Felix's breathing stopped for a second as his muscles started to cramp due to the intense amount of Hex energy that was currently going directly through his body, the moment his body moved for half-a-second, not even after-images were left behind in his previous place.
He couldn't control his body at all after he used his technique!
Fortunately, due to his uncontrollable state, his aim was quite poor and he didn't hit the lieutenant or he might have died on the spot, the lieutenant also dodged the attack at a hairs edge from it hitting him properly and only the shockwaves of the attack hit him, he also minimized the shockwaves by dampening them using his inner Hex technique.
The man might not look like much but he was a veteran that was spared from being absorbed in the war, which meant his talents were above average.
The man was scared out of his wits as he hastily got up from the ground and saw Felix lying a few meters away from him, his body was spasming and it was obvious he got a lot of muscle cramps and tears from the way his body acted.
The man frowned as he approached him and said:
"It seems all the things captain Catro said about you are true, your talent could be described to be even more monstrous seeing it in person."
He grabbed Felix and frowned as he felt how heavy he was, he barely lifted him from the ground and slowly walked towards the infirmary of the buildings of the logistics personnel, there a doctor looked at him and gave him one of those red pills that he made him snort.
Felix got up from the table he was on slowly as he looked around, he didn't lose consciousness but his body just stopped after that attack, the lieutenant looked at him with expectant eyes as he said:
"I hope you will be able to help the lion tribe enter greater heights sir Felix, I will have to go and report to my captain now, this spar was your win!"
The man quickly left him alone and the doctor had to go and tend to some other patients.
Felix left the infirmary and went back to the training ground, when he saw the damage done by his technique his eyes went a little bit wide, there was a hole 5 kilometers deep near the spot that he fought on.
Felix got near the hole and looked into it, it really was 5 kilometers deep or maybe even more as he couldn't calculate properly, actually he couldn't calculate at all for him it looked to be just very big.
Felix looked at his paws that were still shaking as the damage done by technique was nowhere near being healed and clenched them a bit... he realized that his strength was above a peak lieutenants by now, but that was only if he unleashed that technique at 100% of his power and stamina, after all, Catro's lieutenant was both scared and unable to do anything to the attack.
Felix left the training grounds as he limped back to the inn where he lived, he needed some rest to fix his damaged body before he would train more, he knew what his strength was at currently so now he would just focus on training and sparring to get more experience, he saw how the lieutenant acted when the attack almost hit him and realized that he didn't know all the trades of fighting. After all, he was an assassin who didn't have to go head to head in fights. But now that his body was constantly getting stronger if he failed to assassinate a target, he wouldn't have to run away!
Felix smiled as he went to sleep after he ate a hearty meal from the owner of the inn who was also the cook.
He woke up back into his mindscape, he looked around, and continued to laze around on the train station's roof while he thought about other things, now that all of his mind-space was full of memories how could he further improve his soul? This leads him to the fact that he should have used his questions on God to get a soul training technique instead...
He guessed that was the reason God made a fool of him back then, he could have asked for anything he wanted, information-wise, but he chose to ask for such useless things... It shouldn't matter anymore at this point, he was in a new world with new laws and he had to adapt to them, he shouldn't care about his past anymore.
Felix realized these things and this made him go into more thoughts as his intelligence improved slowly through self retrospection, however, emotions were still a foreign concept to him, his EQ could be considered rather low even though he could empathize with someone in some regards.
Felix woke up and found his body to be a little bit better than before, and that he could technically start training again even though it would put a small strain on his still-healing body, however, he liked these pills that he snorted, they were really effective at healing his wounds, he needed to find where he could buy some.
Felix decided to continue training until he was fully healed before he would go to the mission quarters so he could take on a new mission, he also remembered that he should have some extra money to cash in for his efforts in the war.
Felix didn't leave the inn again as he started to breathe in and out using the stamina training technique, his heart and lungs were constantly refined by the Hex energy in the air and they were getting tougher and their capacity increased accordingly.
It took him around 10 days for his body to be fully healed and he also made some improvements at his second stage of strengthening, in around 20 or 30 more days he would break through the 3rd stage.
Felix left the inn and went to the mission quarters to get his extra money and the lady behind the desk there gave him a big bag full of golden bones, then Felix asked her about the pill:
"Hmm... those pills are tactical resources of the tribe and they are very expensive, they could be considered treasures of the tribe and only very high-ranked members of the military are allowed to buy them, or those with special rights. But considering the shaman indicated that I should allow you to buy them and even give you a 50% discount, how many do you want?"
Felix took out all of his money from his special bag that he always kept tied to his back and gave it to the clerk for her to count:
"Hm... in total with the money that I gave you, you have around 150,000 golden bones, one pill is around 5,000 golden bones so how many you want to buy, in total you can buy around 60 with the discount."
Felix didn't want to use all of his money on these pills so he bought 59, the inn was cheap and he realized that he got a discount there as well, it seemed the shaman was looking out for him and also giving him special privileges due to his identity as someone chosen by God.
Felix didn't mind the privileges, they could be helpful.
Felix took the container that had 59 pills from the lady and the rest of his money before he deposited them into his bag and left the mission quarters, he wanted to first finish his 3rd stage of stamina training before he went on another mission, he took a glance at the available missions before he exited the building, they were all red or orange-colored meaning that they were very hard.
Most of the missions entailed launching attacks at the headquarters of the black bear tribe, the brown bear tribe, the eagle tribe, the hawk tribe, and the elephant tribe, there were also a lot of other tribes that were mentioned but Felix didn't read the rest.
Felix still unconsciously held a grudge against the black bear tribe so he decided to go against them after he finished his training.
Felix felt that the surrounding temperature was pretty good for him so he decided to train outside this time, he trained outside the inn as he kept his eyes closed and breathed in and out.
His heart contracted and pumped blood at high speeds towards his whole body while his lungs slowly but surely increased their capacity to hold more air and Hex energy.
His whole body was changing at a microscopic level every time he took in a breath and it adapted more to the surrounding laws that governed the place he was in.
As time slowly passed one month went by during which Felix didn't do anything besides focusing on training his body and sometimes trying to train his mind, but considering he had no true method to improve his soul all he could do was self-retrospect to improve his intelligence bit by bit, and also go to the library of the capital and learn some new things from there.
Today Felix finally reached the 3rd stage of refinement on his heart and lungs as another batch of Hex runes appeared on them slowly making a full circle around them, when his whole heart and lungs would be covered by white hex runes that meant he reached the 9th stage and he could break through to the next aura stage if he wanted to.
Felix directly went towards the mission quarters as he talked with the woman there and took the mission to the black beard tribe which remained in the same difficulty range meaning that there wasn't much progress with it.
Felix's eyes hardened unconsciously as he started traveling towards the cave of the black bears, it wasn't because he wanted to take revenge for Sahee, but most likely because his body yearned for more black bear meat, while a small part of his mind yearned for revenge, most of him just wanted to eat more meat, the concentration of Hex energy into it made him very satisfied the last time!
