I have Nine Lives

Chapter 155: Another mission and information on the invaders

Chapter 155: Another mission and information on the invaders

"Ready as I can be."

Felix's voice was full of confidence now that his problem was solved. He felt that he could do anything!

This was just an illusion for him as he was on a high from the substances that the scientist pumped into him to get rid of his cancer cells.

However, that didn't last long, considering his exceptionally strong body.

Felix sobered up rather quickly as he asked:

"What's the next mission?"

Vangar caressed his chin for a few seconds before he said:

"Well, the ship mission has already been finished while you have been fixing your problem. So that one is unavailable, but considering the length of the universe, there are still quite a lot of things to do left."

"I will be honest with you Felix. The invaders are pushing us really hard. and we are currently doing our best to delay them so you can grow."

"Your growth is quite fast, but the same thing can be said about the invaders breaking through our auxiliary armies, sooner or later, they will reach our main army, and the war will start for real."

"Right now, they are at the very edge of our farthest placed army units, very far away from our planets or main corps, but the way they invade our network, hack through our communication channels and steal information is very unique and hard to defend against."

"We are getting constant headaches, and we are losing troops day by day, so the higher-ups have decided to speed up your growth plan."

Speed up the growth plan? Felix felt that he was improving extremely quickly right now. If he was to compare himself to the time when he was living back on the planet, and this wasn't fast enough?

Seeing that Felix had doubts made Vangar say:

"Don't worry. The speed-up plan won't affect you. It will be beneficial to you."

"In what way beneficial?"

Vangar decided to explain to him directly:

"Well, you will have direct access to our most important energy source after your body would have acclimatized to the races that we will tell you to eat."

"Our scientists have analyzed a lot of the captured races and have come to a consensus, the best way for you two grow has been created, and the most suited races had been picked for you to feast on so you can evolve."

"Your mission doesn't involve combat anymore as they are all meant to strengthen you. We have analyzed your combat capabilities and have found that you don't need any more experience. All you need is your strength to get increased marginally and become used to it in a short time."

"We have prepared a new place for you, a previously uninhabited planet now is full of the people that you need to consume to reach your peak. After your body had gone through all of the necessary evolutions, we will contact you once again for the last strengthening step you need to take."

Felix nodded as he fully digested the plan, he knew that he needed to do this to protect the planet, so he was going to go through with everything that the humans told him as a sense of belonging had been created in him as he lived on the planet, and he didn't want anything to happen to it and some select few inhabitants.

Felix didn't have to wait for much time- before he was having that sick feeling in his stomach again.

The teleportation initiated as he saw the multicolored light surrounding him. This time the teleportation was shorter compared to the last time.

Felix could feel that he arrived, and soon enough he opened his eyes as he found himself in a jungle. All of the vegetation surrounding him was of deep purple color, and as he breathed in and out through his armor, a notification from the AI came:

[Planet #20246 of the Human Federation, the planet has been outfitted for Felix's needs and is now his personal growth sanctuary until further notice.]

Felix looked around and started to fly out of the jungle area to find a better vantage area as he knew that he was supposed to eat some prepared people here, but he didn't see any in the jungle.

As he flew into the green skies of the planet, he could see more parts of it, and his senses told him that it was populated.

He got the general direction of the living people on the planet, and he started flying that way, Felix wasn't sure why Vangar and the others didn't directly teleport him to them as it would have saved them time, which they really needed.

Felix turned on his stealth technique as he flew high above a grove of fruit trees that resembled oranges, but they were green and had circle patterns on them with bulbous protrusions.

Felix could sense a few people in the grove, so he slowly made his way down and hid at the top of the crown of one of the trees as he heard rustling coming from one of the shrubs below.

He could clearly hear the heartbeats of the living beings below, they were scared and their breathing was quick as they looked around in fear of the unknown.

Felix could see that two young beings were huddling against each other in one of the shrubs as he changed his position at the top of the tree. They both were oblivious to the fact that they were being currently observed.

Felix could see that they were of different races. And that meant they didn't know each other, but the circumstances must have pushed them together to survive.

Felix felt a strange feeling going through him as he looked at these two youth aliens, he knew that he must devour them to gain the properties of their races, but he also felt rather reluctant.

But that feeling of reluctance didn't last long in him as he steeled his conviction. No matter how empathic he had become along the way, he was still the same person.

He slowly crept down from the tree, as if he was a spider ready to spin his web around his prey and suffocate it to death.

The two oblivious targets still shivered under the tree, only for two muffled thuds to be heard shortly after.

After the thuds, crunching sounds were heard as Felix came out of the shrubs with a little bit of blood sticking on his armor at his paws area, but the blood was quickly absorbed by the armor, and nothing was left behind.

The shivering duo never appeared again as Felix flexed his body and felt the new changes that were coursing through it.

A notification appeared in his face as the AI told him the origins of the two beings he had absorbed:

[Miskus Ekolemus or also known as the race of those that don't sleep, is a plant-based species that remove the energy conversion state of sleeping with a more advanced level of energy-absorbing through photosynthesis.]

[Barthus Akomoleus is a species recently found by the federation that has high regenerative capabilities to the point that they would only die if all of their cells are destroyed.]

Felix nodded seeing the information, he could feel that his body was very energetic right now, as for the regeneration thing he would see later.

He knew there were a lot more people hidden on the planet that he needed to find and devour, to gain all of the abilities and bodily upgrades that he needed to defend the planet in the crisis that was to come.

He started to concentrate on the energy and life levels he felt around the planet, now that he had devoured the photosynthesis plant being, he could control the energy around him in a better fashion compared to before.

His energy-sensing range also skyrocketed as he could now sense half of the planet range if he concentrated properly.

All he needed to do was pick a target as every being on the planet had quite a distance from each other.

The only surprising thing was that he had found a duo of targets in the first moments that he had arrived on the planet...

Well, it didn't matter much.

A pulse came from Felix's forehead as he almost stumbled where he stood. This time it didn't come from his own body as Willie woke up from his relatively long sleep.

Felix could sense that Willie was removing himself from his forehead as energy coursed through the tree wisp, it seems that after this last absorption Willie gained enough natural energy to finally be able to create a fleshly body of his own.

The wisp's consciousness seemed to be fuzzy, as it didn't say anything, and immediately started to construct a cocoon around him in the middle of the grove near Felix.

The transformation was sudden and without warning, and even Felix wasn't sure what to do in this situation, but he had signed a contract with Willie, and he had to meet his end of the bargain.
