Chapter 151: A real battlefield is different from a simulation (4)
Felix's queasy feeling didn't stop after he finished devouring the draconic body as it intensified gradually until he almost couldn't control his armor anymore.
He felt really wrong. He looked around and saw the ongoing battle, but he didn't feel like he would be able to participate in it anymore as his body wasn't in his control anymore.
His body felt like it was ready to drop and sleep, and this happened after he ate only one dragon member, which was strange considering this only happened when he first arrived on this plane.
Were the dragons such an advanced race that Felix's body needed to shut down to digest everything they had to give?
From their battle capabilities, they didn't seem like a strong race...
Were they weak, or were the humans too strong?
But from what was happening, Felix realized that the dragons had stronger bodies than his as even the lowliest soldier had created such a reaction in him.
Felix sent a message to the metal-eyed general reporting his situation and that he had to retreat. The man knew a little bit about Felix's ability but not much. However, Vangar told him that the only exemption of Felix being let to retreat was when his ability came into play.
The general knew that Felix was a valiant cat, with the way he had fought on the frontlines without any fear. So if he needed to retreat, that meant something was truly wrong with him.
Felix slowly retreated from the battlefield under the enemy commander's heated gaze, who was still trying to break away from the metal-eyed man's grasp. Felix was currently so weak that he couldn't even employ his stealth technique.
The short man remembered Felix's silhouette as he glared at the opponent in front of him and decided to go for broke!
He knew that if he didn't escape here, he would certainly die, and death was still worse than being punished by the civilization behind him.
His bulbous eyes started to elongate as his humanoid form was slowly shedding.
He was transforming into his primal form and seeing that their commander was shedding his humanoid form. The troops below started to do the same.
Their beast hide armors started to stretch along with their bodies as the inscriptions written on the inner parts started to light up.
Felix's stomach was rumbling as he felt his consciousness slowly fading. He had already gotten away from the battlefield when a bright light from behind took his attention as his half-conscious state disappeared little by little under the radiation of the light.
He wasn't sure why, but this light that was illuminating the whole surroundings for around 60-100 kilometers was giving him a familiar feeling, even though he had never experienced it before.
It was seemingly as if his dormant cells, which we're giving him the command to sleep, have been now awakened. And his body, which was lethargic and ready to stop working before. Was now full of energy and ready for action
It was a rather foreign feeling to Felix as he had never felt so reinvigorated before, even after he slept his fair share of hours.
It was almost as if he was excited by something, and he knew that it all came from the light. The battlefield was that way, and he felt that his body was now adapting quickly to the energy that he got from the corpse that the armor helped him devour.
He was ready for round 2!
It was also a great time for an ambush, as the enemies thought that he left the battlefield because he got injured.
It was the perfect plan that he didn't even think of.
Felix activated his stealth as he returned to the battlefield only to come to a tragic sight as the formerly winning humans were now being battered around by 5 meters tall dragons with long whiskers and pale white scales.
Even the metal-eyed general had a hard time fighting the bulbous-eyed dragon in front of him.
It seemed that their reverting to their primal form gave them a huge strength boost, and Felix wondered why did they wait so much and even retreated instead of fighting directly in these forms.
But it wasn't time to wonder as he needed to help the humans, or else they might be wiped out if he didn't act fast enough.
He first observed a little bit on how the newly transformed Dragonoids were fighting, they were certainly more reckless than before, and some of them even had froth coming out of their mouths as they rampaged in the midst of the human battle formation.
Felix now understood why they didn't transform from the start. As it seemed, that their transformation took away some of their intelligence.
Their way of fighting was way more primitive than before, it was obvious from the way they recklessly charged everywhere, and sometimes they even attacked their own allies.
Their powers were certainly exponentially increased, and the lights from the inside of their armors somewhat managed to keep their sanity in check, so they didn't go totally bonkers.
Felix wondered what kind of link. Did the light from the armor had with the DNA that he absorbed and incorporated into himself using his ability...
What had actually changed in his body?
When he posed that question to himself, he suddenly felt his body starting to stretch as pain engulfed his senses, as he almost dropped his stealth, but he gritted his teeth and endured through it.
He knew that something was wrong, but he endured it for a little while before he looked down at his transparent body, which was now standing around 2.5 meters tall with hulking muscles and no room of fat left, he still looked the same, the little cute orange furred cat, but the only difference was his height and the fact that he looked like he overdosed on steroids, his armor had grown along with him as it rippled with a metallic shining light.
He knew that he had awakened this form from the dragons, but it didn't make sense, wasn't this the dragon's primordial form? They had evolved from this into humanoid forms, so why would Felix unlock something like this?
Maybe he was wrong, he wasn't sure about the civilization of the dragons, and fighting in such a big form wasn't his style.
He was a stealthy type, not a brawler type. But he could make use of this form right now as it would be good to attract attention to himself and use his beefy body as a shield for the humans so they could focus on the big targets and eliminate them, now that their reasoning was half-lost, they wouldn't run away anymore.
His form revealed itself above the ongoing fight as he dropped directly on top of another behemoth, the dragon then tried to toss him off his back, but Felix bit him directly on the neck ending his life as he took out a big chunk of flesh and bones.
The humans were wary of the new arrival, at first, but after they saw that it was Felix, just really big and beefy, they had calmed down.
And they almost cheered as they saw him easily taking down one of those enemies that they really had a hard time defending against.
They weren't sure why he left in the first place, but now that he was back, everything was ok.
The battlefield started to rumble once more as Felix unleashed his aura to its full potential, now that his body had been enlarged and strengthened by the racial talent that he had absorbed from the Dragonoids. He became a beefy tank that could take an infinite amount of hits from the opponents that surrounded him. Of course, if the enemy's general tried to attack him, he would end up in a precarious position very quickly.
But that couldn't happen, considering the metal-eyed general was taking care of him right now, combined with the fact that the man was half-sane also made him unable to give out orders anymore, nor focus on the right things on the battlefield.
The battle was half-won, and now all they had to do was clean the battlefield.
Felix's roar was heard on all of the battlefield as he decapitated enemy after enemy using his newly found and improved raw strength.
His killing potential had skyrocketed after he assumed this form
But it was also taking a toll on his mind.
It seemed that while Felix took the ability from the dragonoids. It didn't come free of side effects. They were indeed minimized, but that was mostly because of Felix's exceedingly strong soul.
As time passed, he felt his strength starting to take control of him instead of him controlling it, so he immediately reverted to his normal cute standard form, his armor going back to its initial size as well. Felix was surprised that it even expanded along with him at first.
The moment that happened, he felt a burst of weakness assaulting him.
But it wasn't a bad thing at the moment, as he looked around he saw that the battle was 99% done.
The only person remaining was the enemy's general. Who was currently breaking away from the metal-eyed human general, it won't be long before he escaped. And there wasn't much that could be done in that regard.
Felix was truly exhausted now, and the ground troops wouldn't be able to catch someone their general couldn't.
However, the battle was an overall victory for the humans.
