Chapter 1106.5: Representation War (Part 5)
The energy-blade toad lay flat within the crater, remaining still until the dust settled. Seated within a tiny room on its forehead was Hazen, closing his eyes as he sensed Mental Energy being absorbed into its body.
And through him, the Mental Energy flowed into the Darble Network and collected into a sphere in the centre.
The Mental Energy only had a protagonist nature to it. Yes, it was System Elixir. Originally, the Systems intended to farm System Elixir. But, they didn't have a method to filter just that.
They would have to absorb all forms of Mental Energy and then filter it out, dumping out the unneeded while storing in the needed. System Elixir was just a small portion of that.
But through Lore, Compass Carburettor introduced a single variable. All Mental Energy types would simply dissipate, just as how they did in every world.
The only exception to this was System Elixir. When it appeared, it transformed into a stream and flowed into the nearest Secret Society member. And using their body as a node, the System Elixir accumulated within the Darble Network.
As long as the System Elixir was within the Darble Network, even if Zaira were to infiltrate Central Plains, she would only end up empty-handed.
Hazen muttered as he observed the quantity of System Elixir he gained, "Around 8000. Damn, that's pitifully low."
It made sense since not everyone had a protagonist nature. Even at the moment of death, very few temporarily erupted with a protagonist tendency. So, the collection of System Elixir was indeed pitiful.
"But, it's still a start. There are plenty more places to slaughter." Hazen let out a twisted smile. Ever since Systems destroyed his home, he harboured deep hatred against them. And since all his targets were technically Systems, he could freely massacre.
There were no problems with this method since Central Plains was just too massive. The population growth exceeded the rate at which he could slaughter people even if he did that without rest.
That was why Compass Carburettor told all Secret Society members to engage in unbridled slaughter.
Normally, if two System Hosts—Host to a Grade 2 System—were to have an offspring, the baby too would be a System Host, since the Grade 2 System would send a fragment into the baby when it was in its mother's womb itself.
That was how Grade 2 Systems ensured the number of their Hosts continued to increase without having to actively look for targets. That's why they farmed Mental Energy without needing any effort.
Only Grade 2 Systems could do that. Grade 1 Systems have to find a Host and actively meddle in their life.
Grade 3 Systems have to actively find worlds to Host, no different from Grade 1 Systems. Only Grade 2 Systems could passively farm without a single care in the world. So, they were special, since they conformed to the various races of importance in the multiverse.
Since the Restriction Order was in effect, if two Systems Hosts were to have an offspring, the child wouldn't be born a System Host. They would just be a regular native.
Therefore, if the Secret Society members were to continue slaughtering the System Hosts, wouldn't a time arrive when Central Plains was wholly rid of all Systems?
That was their goal, their clear condition to accumulate enough System Elixir necessary to create the Main Character System.
After all, wouldn't the scene where their entire race—of Systems—was slaughtered for resources be the perfect lore for the birth of the last member of their race, created to avenge them all?
That was the essence of being the Main Character System. And Compass Carburettor was aiming for that.
To successfully execute it, he grabbed the best among the best of Secret Society members and dropped them in Central Plains. For such a vast world, a mere two thousand plus Secret Society members seemed pitiful.
But that didn't matter, as every single one of them was insanely strong and could create an army of Haggons to engage in further slaughter.
While the energy blade toad remained still, Hazen supplied Darlac to it and mended the damage sustained during the fall. Following that, the toad got up and leapt, travelling dozens of kilometres with a single leap.
Thump! Thump!
The earth rumbled with its every leap as the toad travelled towards the next fort. Energy blade was weightless. But when filled with weight, it became terrifying. And containing enough water in its belly to form a lake, the toad was heavy enough to flatten an entire area.
Hazen saw people in the closest fort flee in a hurry upon spotting him. They held swords and shields, those which seemed useless in the situation.
It hadn't been long since they had been introduced to Darlac. Not many had even figured out the existence of Darlac's capability to create energy blades. They had yet to know of the Warrior and Puppeteer Paths related to it.
They were simply using it as a stamina resource to move around more. Even though they had more stamina to run away, their speed didn't change. And against the toad that could cover dozens of kilometres with every leap, all were fairly squished into a paste.
Seated within the toad's mouth was Hazen, munching on a tree to replenish his Darlac. The toad's mouth was filled with trees. And whenever they were consumed, the toad simply scooped up another mouthful from the surroundings.
As a result, Hazen was always on the move, never having to rest. He observed System Elixir accumulate in the Darble Network slowly but steadily.
The other Secret Society members too had begun to amass it.
Ten years passed in such a fashion when Hazen observed his Darble Dungeon, staring at the over billion Haggons within that had reached adulthood. Their Darlac reserves ranged from 5000-8000. Around ten thousand had attained Transcendence.
They were a formidable force. With a smile, he let them out, giving them a command, "Slaughter anything that isn't a Haggon."
A wave of Haggons rushed out and drowned the nearby countries, wielding superior energy blade weapons against the inferior races. It made sense since through the Darble Network, the Secret Society members continued to innovate more methods of Darlac use.
And they taught it to the Haggons they reared in their dungeons. As a result, all Haggons were vastly advanced in their craft.
Staring at the Haggon Wave, Hazen grinned as his Darble Dungeon began to spawn another batch of baby Haggons. A decade later, he would release them and rinse and repeat the process.
Slowly, the infamy of Haggons spread across Central Plains.
