Chapter 29
Chapter 29: The Plan Begins
At the same time, in the old manor belonged to Ying Corporation.
The old man smashed the teacup to the ground.
In front of him stood a man with a burly man, Coster.
“This is the answer you gave me, huh?”
The old man was so angry that his beard was trembling. “She disappeared last night, and now you’re telling me you can’t find her? That’s it?”
Moanke looked at the pale Coster, pacing back and forth in front of him.
“The invitation has been sent out a long time ago, and now the guests are about to arrive. After such a thing happened, you couldn’t even find a little girl?”
“What about the banquet tonight?”
Moanke stopped in front of Coster and stared into his eyes. “What should I tell others? That the girl of Ying ran away from the marriage? That she was kidnapped?”
The more he spoke, the angrier he got. He picked up a teacup from the wooden table and threw it down on the floor with all his strength and shouted, “This will humiliate Ying Corporation!”
“Mr. Moanke, calm down. There’s still time. I’ve already asked people to use all their connections to look for her,” Coster said after a moment of silence.
However, there was a trace of resentment in his eyes.
Moanke panted heavily. “Does the Chen family know about her disappearance?”
Coster replied, “Don’t worry, Mr. Moanke. The thing is under wraps. They don’t know about it.”
The old man was relieved.
At this moment, a gilded old telephone on his wooden table rang.
“Hello.”
Moanke was shocked.
Only a few people knew the existence of the landline number.
Could it be that Heavenly Punishment already knew about Catherine’s escape?
Little did he expect to hear Catherine’s voice when he picked up the phone.
“Grandpa, I’m at Metropole Hotel in New York.”
“Catherine?”
When Moanke heard this, he forced his fist on the wooden table, leaving a bruise on his skin.
Around 5:40 p.m.
Downstairs of Metropole Hotel, New York.
Dressed up in his suit, Moanke looked energetic as he stood in the lobby with a smile on his face.
Many guests had arrived. There were the rich, celebrities, and noble women came up to Moanke.
“Congratulations, Mr. Moanke.”
“Congratulations. You are so lucky to marry Heavenly Punishment’s heir.”
“Thank you.”
After the guests exchanged a few pleasantries with them, they were ushered into the elevator.
A young man in a suit was walking through the entrance into the lobby of Metropole Hotel.
He had a smile on his face, his suit perfectly pressed. He possessed a noble aura, as if this aura was inborn.
When the young man came in front of Moanke, Moanke frowned.
There were many distinguished guests here, but he had no impression of this young man in front of him.
“Hello, Mr. Moanke, congratulations.”
The muscles on Moanke’s face twitched. His years of experience in society had taught him never to offend anyone he did not know.
So he smiled politely. “Thank you.”
But after he said that he felt it was strange to say ‘thank you.’
So, Moanke asked, “What is your name, young man?”
“Me? Call me Kota.”
The young man returned a polite smile.
Moanke nodded but was still none the wiser.
He had a lot of experience and knew many people. Probably this young man was the son of one of his old friends.
So he did not give it a second thought.
Kota walked past Moanke and walked straight to the elevator.
The party would start in half an hour.
The banquet hall on the sixth floor was full of people, almost a hundred of them.
Kota found a seat and sat at the table at the back, waiting quietly.
In a room of the Metropole Hotel, a beautiful face could be seen in the mirror of the dressing table.
Her skin was snow-white, and there was a hint of coldness in her expression that kept people away from her.
Catherine was wearing a red slim dress with a golden phoenix rim embroidered on it. It looked festive.
However, the festive dress did not match her current mood.
“Miss, the makeup has been done. Do you see anything that you are not satisfied with?” The female makeup artist behind Catherine asked.
“Thank you, that’s good enough,” Catherine replied, “I will leave you to it now.”
It was not after the female makeup artist packed her suitcase and walked out of the room did Catherine speak. “Sikal, I’m a little nervous.”
Sikal sat on the bed behind Catherine. She was deep in thought. No one knew who she was thinking about.
Sikal came out of her thoughts when she heard Catherine calling her name.
“Relax. I’m here.”
She walked over and put her hands on Catherine’s shoulders while looking at her in the mirror. “For a woman like you, born into a wealthy family, there are some things that you have to face.”
Catherine wanted to say something, but it never came out of her mouth.
Sikal only knew that Catherine was going to expose Coster as a traitor at the cocktail party, but she did not know that Catherine was also going to announce in public that she was to cancel the engagement.
“Young Lady, the party is about to begin. Mr. Moanke is waiting for you.
There was a knock on the door.
“I know,” Catherine replied, and then said to Sikal as if she had decided on something:
“No matter what happens later, Sikal, stay with me, okay?”
“Okay, silly girl.” Sikal was stunned at first, and then immediately agreed.
She really thought that Catherine was nervous because of Coster.
“Are you ready, Young Lady?” Someone hurried her again outside the door.
Catherine took a deep breath and stood up from the chair. She put away all her emotions and became a reserved, icy beauty again.
“Let’s go.”
